03 February 2010: "Waka Waka."
Movement

At the top, #11 Timur Ahmad smashed some more times, enough for a 2.1875 AF cut to move himself up three spots. He now sits on the brink of the top ten, and another effort like this week will surely push him in. Possibly his biggest feat this week was his rack up of German records, gaining eight to end the month at fifteen. He is now not far behind Leonardo and Sascha, who have twenty-six and twenty-one German records respectively. The records that he hit this week include RMC1 41"667 + 13"178 Gods, RKB2 42"697 Myth B + 13"299 God, RMB flap 23"292 God, RBB 1'45"526 + 34"837 Gods and RSG flap 21"349 God. Timur has pushed himself pretty close to the next Myth A player, so we can watch to see if he reaches that plateau this month, or maybe even this week? Timur also climbed up two spots on the PRB charts to #19, but he didn't worry about that too much, although some others did.

For the PRB charts, #8 Huwakun made a nice 0.9843 AF cut to move ahead of legends #9 Giulio Centrone and #10 Sascha Brauninger, solidifying his position in the top ten. The next two cutters were really the biggest though. #11 Dylan Gaunt knocked off a huge 4.9219 AF as he tries to make his PRB rank as good as his Non-PRB rank. His three spot jump puts him just outside the top ten, which is about 1.7 AF out of reach for now. With an even bigger cut of 5.0781, #16 Fabio Sacco moved up just a mere spot, but helped to balance out his timeset. Like Dylan, he is possibly trying to make his PRB set as good as his Non-PRB set, meaning he could be hitting some pretty strong times soon.

#14 Nicola Torre, the King of Time Updaters, was active as well with a 0.6250 AF cut, although he lost a spot on the ladder due to Timur's activity. Nicola did hit some very strong time on DS with 1'31"889 Myth C + 29"066 God. Despite losing a spot, Nicola can regain that spot back soon by passing fellow Italian #13 Michele Magnaterra, sitting under 0.4 AF ahead of him. He did at least stay ahead of Timur on the PRB by just 0.1 AF, but it will be hard for him to hold Timur back much longer. #29 Pol Gonzalez was also a bit active with a 0.1563 AF cut, as he inches ever so slowly to his next opponent.

We have to scroll quite a bit down for the other two actives in the top 100, the first one being #69 Marcus Whitley. He chopped off 2.8750 AF to move up three spots, which included passing #72 Jerome Francois. This moves Marcus into the #6 Australia spot, with the #5 spot belonging to #64 Thomas Rielly. The fortress phenom sits just 8 AF points away, so this is a goal Marcus can reach in the near future. Also active again, #82 Stefan Mayr had a strong AF cut of 5.5469, but unfortunately only moved up one spot. He did however become Hero A overall, and could become Titan overall very soon with the way he's been cutting.

Movement outside the top 100 included #145 Pablo Gabriel -9.9530 (Expert B to Expert A), #161 Tanguy Nicolas -7.5150 (Expert C to Expert B), #163 Sophie Steiner -8.7340 (Expert C to Expert B), #218 Tom Mannings -5.2970, #225 Troy Dunbeck -17.5940 (Advanced A to Expert E), #226 Tom van Kessel -2.8440 (Advanced A to Expert E), #344 Christian Wild -102.3900 (Intermediate B to Advanced D) and #414 Andrew Howes -25.9690.

Awards

This player is making strong progress up the charts, and can one day maybe even rise to be a top player. Only time will tell, but for his huge cuts now, Christian Wild wins the POW for the fourth week of January!

His comeback started late last year, but he made his best progress this month. He has moved nearly to the top ten, with absolutely no signs of slowing down. For his great climb towards the top, Timur Ahmad wins the POM for the month of January!
