15 November 2008: "No pain, No gain"
Movement

As mkds enters it's 4th year of competition, the top players continue to amaze as WR's keep getting pushed to the max. Although #1 Thomas Bolton and #2 Ben Stoneman were active, they did not manage any AF cuts thanks to the the "officially retired" #3 Giulio Cetrone. His recent batch of pr's was enough to pass #4 Fabien Da Silva on non-prb and bring Ben another tenth of a point closer to Thomas. Of course, Giulio's focus was on DS where he took back the records from last week with an insane 1'29"526 and slightly better flap of 28"831!

Also active were #9 Michele Magnaterra, #10 Milan Pacino, and #11 Abel Marques. Michele improved three new times including TTC 3lap and YF to take 0.75 off his AF to close the gap between him and #8 Cole Gilbert. Due to Abel's activity, Milan woke up to keep to defend the non-prb UK crown with 7 new times. Milan beat his CM, CCB, BC2, and LM 3lap records amounting to a 0.5313 AF cut. Although Abel scored the most new times in the group, he only managed to remove 0.4375 AF points. His effort was rewarded though by moving up to #4 on the prb chart! Abel has 52 CR's on prb and 29 on non-prb so unless Milan really gives it a go, there is little to stop the monster pace he has been on lately. They both went sub 3.0 in ARR at Myth C while Michele just missed making Myth B overall at 2.5 overall. Let the war for the top 10 continue!

Farther down is #23 Tim Shelbourne who made good on TTC going sub 1'32 first with his first WR getting 1'31"860! Additionally, he improved his TTC flap to 30"238, DH 3lap 1'13"451 Titan B, and MC flap 30"006 Titan C. Right behind is #24 Lenny Andreev who is starting to get his share of pwnsome times like MC1 non-prb 3lap 41"896 and LC1 prb flap 23"346. Tim cut about a half AF point while Lenny took off one. They are both Myth E overall with Lenny leading in God times with 8 to Tim's 7. Just managing a WR should be enough of an accomplishment for Tim though this week.

Near the top 30, #30 Zach Sterling and #31 Pol Gonzalez did not move anywhere on the non-prb ranks in terms of AF and ARR. Pol however moved up to #28 on prb to defend his title as Spanish Champ there. Despite cutting about an AF point each, it was not enough to dig out of that graveyard just yet. Farther down, #43 Dallas Wilde moved up one spot with new times on DS. #48 Joep van Gelder went up two spots despite a big 4.5 AF cut which helped him reach Titan C overall.

Lastly we have #57 Carlos Munoz, #64 Jay Kreeler and #87 Ben Sackville wrapping up the top 100 again. Carlos almost reached Titan D overall this week but continues to focus on the prb side where he is just 2 AF points away from reaching the #26 spot. After working through his own AF graveyard, he is in a heated battle with Pol for that Spanish Crown. Jay sent in his share of times but was only rewarded on the prb side jumping up a few spots to #65. Ben moved up 3 spots and joined the top 100 on the prb side now. He got his first Myth time on, not surprisingly, KB2 taking his time down to 13"499. He improved some other places like RR and PG which helped him make the move in AF.

Movement outside the top 100 included #105 David Roldan -6.1710, #136 Andrew Mao -9.4210, #140 Marcus Whitley -1.4070, #142 Haddon Power-Cohen -5.3280, #186 Florian Valandina -1.5160, #187 Robert Lee -16.5620, #199 Dimitri Mentali -10.7970, #202 Richard Penkalla -6.3900, #304 Nicholas Harvey -65.4070, #465 Joe Loose -73.5460, #479 Daniel Sampson -0.5000, #488 Toni Leino -16.4380, #497 Kevin Booth -23.0630, #563 Zack Weber -3.2660 and #571 Greg Coffino -8.0470.

New Records

There were 6 WR's improved (blue) and five non-prb times (pink).

Marshall LeVett started things off on CCB again improving the flap six times before ending up with 27"182. He also took the 3lap there with 1'23"835. It was not meant to last though as Thomas Bolton struck back once more with 27"166 and 1'23"709 before taking that down to a shocking 1'23"433. Tim Shelbourne got the first sub 1'32 on TTC with 1'31"860 but Thomas was ready to take that back too with 1'31"699. Ben Stoneman got the MC 3lap with 1'30"101 but fell victim to Thomas' reign of terror as he took that record sub 1'30 for the first time with a historic record of 1'29"913, live replay Lastly, Giulio got the DS records back with 1'29"526 and 28"831. There has been no word if Thomas will fight for these again, or at least very soon.

For nonprb, everything except Thomas' terrific MC 3lap.

Awards

It has definitely been the WR craze lately and without huge jumps below them, the toppies really stood out this week. Coming back to the game and making big improvements is easier said than done. With enough motivation, even the impossible can become a reality. Getting a nice batch of times this week, reclaiming some WR's in a hurry and reaching #3 overall, Giulio Centrone wins the POW for the second week of November.

Happy Birthday! LOL ~ETCH
