08 October 2007: "RR WR Battle"
Movement

#5 Cole Gilbert was plenty active this week scoring 15 new PRs. Cole cut 0.75 off of his AF but still trails #4 Sascha Brauninger by about 2 points. Cole tried a new strat on CCB flap, scoring 27"741 God by attempting it on the second lap. He also came .01 away from the YF flap WR with a still very impressive 15"257 God. He also scored great times on RR with 1'58"297 Myth A and 38"752 God. His PRs resulted in a rank promotion cutting 0.4531 off of his ARR to reach 2.4063 Myth B. Cole's AF cuts also helped him on the PRB side, where he cut 0.2812, enough to pass Giulio Centrone for #4.

#6 Ben Stoneman was active this week with just a 0.2031 AF cut on the Non-PRB, but had a nice 1.25 AF cut on the PRB side. His PRB cuts were enough to pass #7 Nick Welch there. Some of his times included SR 1'41"458 Myth E and 32"834 Myth A, MC1 PRB 39"166 and 12"782, and BB 1'47"277 Myth A and 35"216 God.

The next player with an AF cut didn't come until outside the top 20, that person being the always active #21 Michele Magnaterra. His 1.5937 AF cut came from just 7 PRs, which included RR flap 39"353 Titan A and LC1 3lap 1'14"071 Myth E. Michele still has quite a way to go to finally break into the top 20, 3 AF points behind #20 Leonardo Assisi. Leonardo was also a bit active. He didn't have an AF cut but a very tiny ARR cut of 0.0313. That was enough to give him a rank promotion becoming the newest Titan A player at 6.4688.

A few more players in the top 30 were active and those were #24 Matthew Ord -2.0156, #26 Jeff Ferencz-Nagy -2.1562 and #27 Ted Kim -1.2031. Matthew's cut came from 12 PRs, which included F8C 1'15"727 Titan A, MC1 42"205 and 13"359 Dual Gods, and KB2 flap 13"520 Myth E. Jeff hit some great times as well, such as SR flap 33"106 Myth D, PG flap 28"600, and RR 1'59"581 Myth D and 39"282 Myth E. Jeff's cuts also helped him in PRB where he moved up 4 spots to #16. Despite all of their nice cuts, all of them stayed stuck at Titan C.

In the 30's area were some active UKers. #32 James Leare cut only .1718 AF points, but it is enough for now to stay just ahead of #36 Abel Marques and #37 Tim Shelbourne, who cut 0.6094 and 2.2032 respectively. James will need to be a bit more active in coming weeks if he wants to hold onto that #3 UK spot but no pressure of course. They should all be moving up near or into the top 30 soon, being that the #28-#38 range is only seperated by a mere 4 AF points.

The only others active within the top 50 were #41 Marshall LeVett -1.8906 and #46 Chase Peleshaty -1.9219. Both came very close to a rank promotion. Once again, Marshall kept his stake on RR top ten times with 1'59"258 and 39"233 this week. He landed at 9.5781 Titan E and Chase landed in at 10.5000 Hero A. Expect both of them to promote themselves to the next rank granted they are active next week.

Further down the charts were #65 Pol Gonzalez and the MK64 great #70 Iacopo "Almost Legend!" Sorce. They both had minimal cuts, taking off 0.6719 and 0.4062. Iacopo hasn't been active in quite some time, and it would be great for him to move his way up the charts back into the top 30 where he once belonged. Give us some of that NikeXTC skill man!

Finishing off the top 100 was #77 Clement Duchene -3.9062, #87 Tom Webb -3.0469 and #95 Dennis Molina-Yao -5.9070. All three had ranked up this week. Clement cut -0.3437 to reach 13.4375 Hero C, Tom cut -0.2813 to get to 14.3906 Hero D, and finally Dennis reached 15.2188 Hero E with an ARR cut of -0.4687. Besides these three players, only Cole and Leonardo were the others to have a rank promotion within the top 100 this week.

Movement outside the top 100 included #109 Matthieu Van Reet -4.0000 (#3 Belgium, Expert B to Expert A), #112 Pierre Signamarcheix -2.7030 (#17 France), #137 Nies Romain -2.1250 (#21 France), #143 Joe Sebeny -4.4370 (#45 USA), #146 Basile Boffy -9.2340 (#23 France), #169 Vincent Guo -27.0470 (#53 USA, Advanced B to Advanced A), #175 Scott Kaforey -24.3910 (#56 USA, Advanced B to Advanced A), #201 Quinn Allely -42.1560 (#60 USA, Advanced C to Advanced A), #227 Lenny Andreev -23.0000 (#7 Australia, Advanced D to Advanced C), #228 Richard Lim -13.3750 (#8 Australia), #289 Gabriel Wilson -3.2650 (#100 USA), #363 Lucas Herrera -32.1880 (#125 USA, Intermediate D to Intermediate C), #368 Julien Cloutier-Brassard -9.5150 (#24 Canada), #385 Jeremy Lee -16.9680 (#15 Australia, Intermediate D to Intermediate C), #403 Pierre Kirner -3.6100 (#58 France) and #411 Jacob Goldfinger -78.5940 (#146 USA, Beginner C to Intermediate D).

New Records

There were 5 WR's improved this week (blue) and two non-prb times (pink).

BDash was active this week scoring three WR's. First up was his tie breaking run on YF 3lap. Only six thousanths of a second quicker than Thomas and Cole, BDash holds the record at 46"581. YF has been a really busy course WR wise whereas the next two records BDash got broke some month old times. Slightly faster than Fabien, BDash took the PC 3lap with 51"747. Live replays of YF 3lap and PC 3lap can be viewed here. Lastly, BDash beat Thomas' BC2 3lap with 1'32"180, live replay here.

Of course, most of the excitement was on RR where a variety of players took on mastering the pipe sc. The first player to land a RR 3lap with 3/3 sc's was ハトムギ. Not only that, he also got the WR and the first sub 1'57 with a time of 1'56"562. Giulio soon joined the action and beat this time by a little with 1'56"221 and eventually took it down to 1'56"010. Beating everyone to the punch again, ハトムギ also achieved the first sub 1'56 with 1'55"905. After making the video that got a lot of people doing the pipe sc, キノコカービィ finally took the WR for himself beating the previous WR time by a small margin with 1'55"866. After this WR rampage, Giulio decided that it would be the power of the strats to take this time. While doing so, he happened to land the first RR flap with 2/2 sc's getting 36"222. Doing two mt's after the loop made all the difference for Giulio getting the first sub 1'55 with 1'54"571, live replay here. Soon after, Josh Habben used standard rb and landed a 2/2 sc flap himself subbing 36 first with a time of 35"400, live replay here. That was all the RR action from last week, go get those WR's!!!

As for the non-prb records, BDash was the only one not playing RR sc so his YF 3lap 46"581 and BC2 3lap 1'32"180 were the only new ones this week.

Awards

Once again, hitting crazy good pr's and near WR times got him POW. It was another strong week for him cutting more than 10% off his AF and 15% off his ARR to reach Myth B overall. Besides closing in on Sascha in non-prb, he managed to take the #4 spot on the prb charts. In recognition for the great times he submitted this week and eventual climb to the top four on non-prb, Cole Gilbert wins the POW for the first week of October, nice one!!!

Looks like my sc is a good sc afterall!!! LOL ~ ETCH
