03 November 2006: ""
#1 Sascha Brauninger fell back a bit this week after a bunch of AF cuts over the past couple months.

#2 Thomas Bolton hit some PRs (and Site Records) and was able to keep his AF exactly as it was last week. As a result, he's a bit closer to Sascha now (just under a point behind). Thomas hit new Site Records of 42.070 on Mario Circuit 1 and 17.992 on Peach Circuit flap, just barely squeaking under 18 seconds.

#3 Giulio Centrone had an awesome week as he submitted a bunch of PRs to cut his AF by 0.7 points. He seems to have bridged the gap between the top players and the superstars (Sascha and Thomas). Giulio is only 0.7 behind Thomas and has a lead of almost 3 AF points over #4 Lars Stelzig. Giulio also hit a new Donut Plains 1 Site Record of 17.916. Giulio was active all month, passed Lars in the ranks, and cut almost 2 points off his AF score. Giulio is our October 2006 Player of the Month.

For the first time since November 18, 2005 we have a US champion other than Michael Fried. #5 Josh Griffin had a solid week with a 0.64 point AF cut to get him just ahead of #6 Michael Fried. Josh leads by just 0.03 AF points. Josh is our Player of the Week.

#7 Paul Gourdon had a nice week with a 1.0 point AF cut to jump over #8 Milan Pacino by working on some of his weaker courses.

#9 Nick Welch had a 0.7 point AF cut and passed #10 Fabio Sacco. Nick posted his most impressive times yet with a pair of 3rd placed PRs on Mario Circuit. His times are 1:32.634 and 29.916.

Despite a few players being active and cutting points off their AF scores, no one between 11th and 23rd place was able to pass anyone on the AF chart this week.

#13 Fabien Da Silva and #14 Adam Nelson were among those active players and had AF cuts of 0.05 and 0.3 points. Fabien didn't get much reward for his work though, he still trails #12 Brandon Yauch by over a point.

#19 Mark Schmidt might've been sensing he was about to fall out of the top 20 and responded with a solid 1 point AF cut to put him 4 points ahead of #21.

#21 Abdulaziz Alhomaid made up some of the 3.5 point gap between him and #20 Thomas McConville this week with a 1.3 point AF cut. He'll have to have a couple more weeks like that to crack the top 20.

#23 Damien Jeunesse and #24 Nicola Gatti were both active this week with 0.2 point AF cuts. The small AF cut was enough to get Nicola by #25 Robin Mazzucotelli.

#29 Mathieu Lavoux hit a new Site Record of 15.596 on YF flap and had a 0.7 point AF cut to move himself up one spot in the rankings. I wonder if he'll ever show that SR speed on other courses.

#33 Timur Ahmad had a great week with a 16 point AF cut to move him 17 spots up the rankings. He showed off some nice speed with 11th and 9th placed Peach Circuit times of 57.109 and 18.282.

#44 Garo Zero and #51 Nicolas Barco had 4 and 5 point AF cuts this week to continue their move up the ladder, but both of them calmed down some from a week ago. It gets tougher in the top 50!

#55 Steven Ledsworth, #56 Thomas Cronin, and #57 Andrew Jones were all active with AF cuts of 2, 6, and 2 points. Steven and Andrew both stayed put in the rankings despite their efforts.

#60 Chase Peleshaty and #64 Stacy Needham put up matching 2.2969 point AF cuts and Belgian champ #61 Jasper Viskens had a huge week with a 16 point AF cut to climb 14 spots in the rankings.

A couple of country #1's were active this week, but their titles certainly aren't in any danger at the moment. #75 James Cranston, Hong Kong champ, and #88 Sergio Diaz, Spanish champ, had 7 and 4 point AF cuts this week. Maybe they can get their countries into the top 50 this month with a few more weeks like that.

A couple of US players were doing their best to keep their spots in the top 100 this week. #91 Alex Gavronsky and #97 Scott Goodell had 4 and 2 point AF cuts and are more securely on the default AF chart now.

#117 David Chatman and #138 Mark Bessey were active as well with 10 and 19 point AF cuts. David worked on a couple of his top 100 times this week with a 93rd place LM 3lap time of 1:40.850 and a 70th place DH 3lap of 1:17.139. Mark hit his best ranked time this week aith a 62nd palce 30.407 on Peach Gardens.

There were a few players further down the ranks with enourmous AF cuts. #155 Adrian Purvis, #178 Connor Quagliana, #188 Mitchell DeVriendt, and #189 Grant Kuffel had AF cuts of 32, 51, 46, and 25 points. With seconds coming off their PRs with ease, they should be able to continue to shoot up the ranks.

Keep it up everyone!
