Movement
Another week full of action. Near the top, Stefan van Dijke has advanced to 4th place and Titan C, ahead of Marius Mollenhauer and Alex Penev. Mollenhauer, Jonathan Steel, Bart Janssen-Bouwmeester and Jon Prentice were the other active Titans this week, each improving their AF and ARR a little bit.
A little bit lower down, Stephen Meakings just broke into the top 20 with a chunky 2.6 improvement in AF to pass Luke Mulders, Julien Boisiaud and Matt Brown. #16 Prashant Bhoja did slighly better and improved by 3.5 points, securing his top 20 place.
Jonas Pettersson appears to be active one more, with a huge 40% reduction in AF. He improved by over 30 places to 71st. You may remember that Jonas is the artist behind the MKDD logo at the top of this site. We would have considered him for POW, but I'm willing to bet it took a lot longer than one week to got those scores.
Simon Laflamme improved by 4.4 points to skip past 10 people into 41st place, reclaiming his top-50 ranking.
Other players who also made significant (more than 10%) improvements were Edivaldo Vieira, Kristopher Will, Alejandro Hernandez, Matthew Hofstad, Cooper Lovera, Vincent van der Fluit, and Dave Bais.
New Records
Guess what, Prashant Bhoja beat his LC 3lap WR again, and still just missed the the 1'15 barrier. His latest effort was 1'16"052, and his best splits are now 25'7x 24'97 24'97.
Fellow Brit Jonathan Steel beat both Peach WRs quite convincingly - 1'08"905 for the 3lap (WR by .3) and 22"108 for the lap (WR by .04, Jon Prentice achieved a 22"148 on the same day).
Stefan van Dijke took Wario Colosseum down another notch, and broke 2'01 with 2'00"941.
New Players
Some friends/family of current members have just joined us this week, it seems.. Rod Cram, from the UK (Intermediate D, ~250th). William St-Louis, from Canada (Intermediate D, ~230). Gabriel Laflamme, from Canada (Beginner A, ~250th). Marianne Campbell, from UK (Newbie, only has 4 times so far). Lesley Boath, from UK (Newbie, is missing many times as well).

Quick Update

Movement
Lots of people improved by huge margins last week. We had 12 people who improved their AF by 10% or more! The biggest news was Milo Pearson moving into 4th spot, just ahead of Alex Penev. Milo made a huge -2.8 cut on his AF to pass 4 people. We awarded the POW to Paul Maes, who improved to 26th spot with an 8 pts improvement on his AF.
Other players who also made very large improvements were Vincent van der Fluit, Yannick Plebani, Rene Bauer, Andre Wachsmuth, Stephen Meakings, Matthew Hofstad, Izzy Ishizuka, Benjamin Zeller, David Renfro and Iain Havard. They'll all probably improve again this week, hehe.
Milo Pearson, Paul Maes, Stefan van Dijke and Stephen Meakings were also the biggest movers in ARR, reaching Titan D, Hero D, Titan D and Hero C respectively. We now have 11 Titans - the new ones being Bart Janssen-Bouwmeester, Milo Pearson and John Prentice.
New WRs
Prashant Bhoja got oh-so-close to the 1'15 barrier in Luigi Circuit, with 1'16"066. Both of his WRs are really close to some truly difficult barriers! :( Jonathan Steel outplayed David Grard in Peach Beach - 1'09"051. Both David and Jonathan are quite a fair bit ahead of the rest of the pack here...
Fernando Moritz dos Santos beat his Baby Park lap by just 0.001, with a 8.638 :plain: He had us all exciting on the message board, thinking he had broken 8'6s :P
Paul Regeffe played more BC to fend of challenges of Marius Mollenhauer, and made a 2'19"511. Both of Paul's times are ranked God, and both of Marius are Titan A.
Stefan van Dijke made 4 WRs in two courses - firstly a 2'57"901 and 58"485 in Rainbow Road (he already held the 3lap WR, but beat Fernando Moritz's 3-month old lap by 0.07). His other course was Wario Colloseum, with 2'01"193 and 59"781. Both these scores are slightly slower than Raphael Segas (who hasn't joined our community), but I suspect Stefan is just getting warmed up
New Players
Mike Konkoleski from USA (Beginner B, ~290). Kieran Jessell from France (Advanced D, ~180). David Hack from Sweden (Intermediate B, ~220). Kristopher Will from Germany (Advanced D, 177th). Dave Crawford from USA (Beginner A, 246th). Pierre Collier from France (Beginner A, 248th). Francis Lessard from Canada (Beginner C, ~310). Jamie Howie from UK (Beginner D, 267th).

New Poll

Got a new poll going. It's for one of those tricky issues - 50 and 60hz. We just want to get a general opinion, we're not planning to change anything too soon.

A day late

New month begins ... let's see now.
New records Stefan van Dijke broke a milestone barrier on Waluigi Stadium - get this, a 1'39"987:O Also David Shiering, who has recently joined us, seems to have beaten Moritz's flap with a 31"491. WS are definitely David's strongest times. That means both WS god times were broken this week!
Jon Prentice plays some Dino Dino Jungle and snatches the WR with a 33"855, just ahead of Fernando Moritz dos Santos who made a 33"860 on the same day. :( Paul Regeffe returned to Bowser's Castle for some unfinished business, narrowly beating the god standard on the flap with 45"674. He now (once again) has both WRs on BC.
Movement
Slight inactivity in the top 10 this week, so those ranks remain the same. Marius Mollenhauer was the highest ranking player to improve his stats, but didn't quite reach 6th place Stefan Baczynsky - they both have an ARR of 4.0 but Stefan is 0.04 ahead of Marius in AF! Bart-Janssen Bouwmeester gained 4 places in AF to reach 10th position, and we gave him the POW for his efforts.
David Schiering moved up 3 places to 17th, Stephen Meakings passed Michael Fried and Cesar Martin to sneak into the top 25, and Yohann Ghignet made it to the top 50 after passing five or six people. Kyle Clayton, Bo Garman, Gregor Fran, Piet den Dulk, Alejandro Hernandez and Izzy Ishizuka also made sizable improvements.
Keep it up. :D
New guys
Warm welcome to.. David Renfro, from Indiana USA (Advanced B, 136th) David Seroussi, from France (Intermediate A, 183rd). Christian Kuklock from Germany (Advanced A, 112th). Daniel Redgal from Spain (Intermediate B, 195th). Getulio de Almeida Oliveira from Brazil (Intermediate D, 242nd). Yannick Plebani from France (Hero A, 14th!).
New movies
A 2'01"220 Wario Colloseum by Raphael Segas (a guy on the French site). Check it out at Francois Chu's site. BP, DDJ and DDD from Jon Prentice's proof videos, hosted by Paul. David Schiering movies of WS and BP.

Coming Soon:Favourite Karter Contest
Paul @ Wednesday, September 1st [link]
|
People who visit gamefaqs or on the-elite.net have probably seen it before. Together with the Mario Kart 64 players page and the Super Mario Kart players page we're going to host a voting-based contest to find out who's the most popular Kart player in the Mario Kart community. We need your votes for it! A contest website has been created.Visit it to read about the rules. Within the next few days that page will show the list of competitors and the draw for the first round will be released. The first voting round will probably start around next week. We'll announce it again when we're going to start. But until that time, spread the word and let all MKDD members (retired players, etc) know about the contest. So, that as many people as possible can cast their votes when the contest will start.
