What's new?
It'd better be a good final tonight!

It was a quiet week for the top 10. #1 Hendrik Bunde lost a WR to #3 Andreas and dropped back 0.06 in AF, which puts him within 0.09 AF pts of #2 Aron Langerak. #6 Jean-Christophe Lacastaignerate made a 0.3 cut, which now puts him half a point behind #5 Vince.
#12 Bo Garman said he wouldn't play for a while, but he seems to be back -- and he continued from where he left off, by passing #13 Jonathan Steel and #14 Paul Maes! Another 0.1 to go and he should pass #11 Tristan Eyma, as well! The road to the top 10 would be very difficult, though, because #10 Olivier Peruch is a huge 5 AF pts up.
#18 Andrew Math has broken the top-20, passing #19 Paul Tanney and #20 Olivier Lavenant. He also passed Olivier in 60Hz to reach 8th place. Andrew scored 6 PRs, including 2 God times on Peach Beach. He should be able to get the 60Hz WRs there soon.
#39 Matt Tanzer got his second God time this week, and made it to the top-40 by passing Andre Wachsmuth and Kevin Borne with a 1.8pt AF cut. He's also reached Titan A! But he still has that one single Hero time left that is cramping his style...
#58 Arnaud Teil scored new PRs on DDJ and passed three players, two of them fellow Frenchman. Thomas Lander and Joey Michorius are very narrowly ahead of him. Arnaud says that he didn't have much luck on the other levels. But that's okay for France, because their Army is getting some new recruits. #89 Kevin Sirman cut almost 7pts in AF, and #104 Florian Vaz could make the top-100 by the end of the month. Kevin's 15 PRs including another two Titan C scores (he got one the previous week).
#119 Alessandra Martinelli is narrowly holding #120 Rosalinda Cancino back, with the two top girls being one position apart. Rosalinda says that she's figuring out the A-tech and should improve even more from now on. For now, Alessandra has an 17-15 lead in head-to-head, but Rosalinda has the most wins in the rivalry.
#121 Max Reese reported 10 PRs over the week. His other 22 PRs date to 2005 or 2006, so it's about time he made a comeback. Max has no excuse not to play over the next few weeks: he's only a few standards shy of Hero C, he just got passed by two girls, and his friend Marvin Mester is all the way up at #75.
It's business as usual for #152 Ryan Stevens, with yet another high-flying week (32pt cut) to give himself a good shot at POM. Ryan scored a Myth D time on PB last week, and followed it up this week with a Titan D on the 3lap. He's also made it to Hero D with his new PRs.
#191 Patrick Hewson got his first Hero times this week, racing 2x Hero D on Wario Colosseum. Apart from those, he had 9 more PRs for a 13pt AF cut.
#282 Zach Tabak's 22 PRs and 44pt AF cut were the biggest of the week. The US player passed 39 others. You know that Hero D time he got on Baby Park last week that was top 150? It looks like he improved it once again. Still Hero D, but now his time is 121st in the table. Considering that BP is one of the most played courses, it sounds like Zach's got a whole lot of potential. He's certainly counts as a course-specialist for the moment. He missed out on Expert by two standards... should be rectified within the next few days.
Honourable mentions: #559 Emeric Gosselin (Int C)
New Records
Only two days after Hendrik scored that Daisy Cruiser 1'36"94, Andreas Rudmarker pulled off a 1'36"850. It's a 0.09 lead on Hendrik and 0.14 on Aron, and also a G+3 time.

If you haven't noticed, #3 Richard Karlsson was removed for proof reasons. Rumour has it that he refused to provide any vids for his proof call. Fortunately, rumour also has it that he's going to go to the Norway kart meeting in a couple of months, where lots of cameras will be filming. For now, at least, just about everyone gained one rank for free. This also means that it's harder for me to notice who improved over the week.
#1 Hendrik Bunde... wait, Hendrik? Well, it turns out that Hendrik got a slightly better deal that #2 Aron Langerak when Richard went, gaining a 0.1 cut. He fell just 0.03 short of Aron's crown. But he took advantage of this, scoring 2 new PRs and cutting an extra little bit. It was enough to take back the #1 spot... for now. Aron held it for almost 50 days, which is about twice as long as any other Dutchie had.
#3 Andreas Rudmarker perhaps benefitted the most from Richard's cut, since he was the guy one spot down. With 3 new PRs in tow, Andreas cut over 1 pt in AF. He's now 1.5 pts behind Aron.
#6 Jean-Christophe Lacastaignerate made up 0.7pts on #5 Vince van der Fluit, and is now less than 1 AF pt behind. Two of his four PRs were God, and one was a WR. JSX is being followed by #7 Konsta Jukka, who made an equally sizeable 1.4pt cut. Among Konsta's PRs was a sub-8"50 in BP, taking 3rd.
#41 Matt Tanzer's 5.2pt cut helped him pass 6 players, all of whom have strange foreign names that are tricky to pronounce. Among them were Grard, Benoit and TvL, all of whom are reasonably famous MKDD names. Matt's just a couple of PRs away from having 32/32 Titan...
#125 Rosalinda Cancino made another massive jump in the ladder, moving up 21 places. She described her performance as 'lovely', 'sweet', and 'lol'. #123 Alessandra raced 9 PRs earlier in the week in her attempts to get 32/32 Italian records (she is one short), and her cuts were enough to still keep her the #1 girl. Rosalinda's 22 PRs may give her a scare, though. Both girls narrowly missed out on a top-100 PR: Alessandra took 101st in BC, Rosalinda 103rd in WS. In terms of their rivalry, they're tied in Rivalry AF and Rosalinda is 0.03 behind in ARR. Somehow, Alessandra has faster total times in both course and lap, but has only 4 rivalry records to Rosalinda's 14. Rosalinda and #136 Andrew Johnson both became Heroes.
#187 Ryan Stevens continued from where he left off last week and made another nearly-20-pt cut. Safely into the top-200, that guy. Passed the likes of Arto Jarvela, Tuomas Dunkel and Cameron Tangen. He raised a few wtf flags with his Myth time on Peach Beach, which is ranked 42nd. #198 Patrick Hewson had a surprisingly good week, scoring a 21pt AF cut and getting that top-200 position mentioned last week. Both Ryan and Pat got promotions, to Exp A and Exp B, respectively.
#321 Zach Tabak's 29pt cut puts him above site overlord Mark Jones, which is always a humorous thought. Among his 16 PRs was a Hero D time on BP that ranks in the top 150. That's something, eh?
#396 Otto Knigge has outed himself as being secretly a Dutchie--well, at least he has Dutchie blood--and reported a bunch of PRs he made over the past month. There were 32 such PRs, all of them between Adv B-D. Very consistent. He reached Adv C in ARR and beat 50 odd players in AF with his 63pt cut.
#594 Emeric Gosselin reported 24 PRs for a 80pt AF cut. That translates to 60 positions on the ladder. Emeric joined three weeks ago, and this week's breeze him through the low Beg ranks and straight into Int D.
New Records
Jean-Christophe Lacastaignerate already has a WR, and added another: 33"032 G+1 lap in DDJ. Hendrik's old record of 33"099 GD was from September last year.
Hendrik used to have a WR tie (with Olivier Peruch) in DC flap for a long time until Aron beat them both by just 0.004. That was a little over a month ago. Hendrik is once again has the WR, and it's once again tied (now with Aron), at 31"376 G+3.
The last record was also Hendrik's: a 1'36"943 in DC. The previous record, Andreas Rudmarker's 1'36"97, was set earlier this week and lasted for 4 days.
Hendrik's WR tally is 10. Aron leads by 2.

#1 Aron Langerak and #2 Hendrik Bunde both scored one WR each this week, but otherwise remained quiet. Hendrik trails Aron by 0.12 in AF.
#5 Marijn Jongbloed normally wouldn't make the news for scoring a single time during the week (it wasn't even God!), but his Rainbow PR gave him the edge on #6 Vincent van der Fluit to become the second Dutch player.
We received some PRs from #9 Raphael Segas. Six of them, to be precise, five of which were God. I'm not sure how outdated they are, but they give Raphy a 0.4pt AF cut... enough to pass his old borderline rival and enemy #10 Marius Mollenhauer by just 0.03! Raphael still hasn't fulfilled his promise to play lovely 60Hz, so you can be sure that he'll be back some day. If he says otherwise, Marius will cross that border and force him.
Speaking of Marius and Raphael, #8 Konsta Jukka can beat his chest that he's passed two former champions in the one week. Konsta made a tiny 0.2 cut from his 6 PRs, but it was enough. That said, neither is Marius the top German, nor Raphael the top French. So Konsta still has work to do if he wants to push Finland even higher. He is 0.8 AF pts behind #7 Jean-Christophe Lacastaignerate.
#15 Bo Garman had another of here-and-there PRs that bring him ever-closer to #14 Jonathan Steel, but still not quite. Earlier in the week, Bo beat two of Andrew Math's latest times to get 32/32 USA records. He held that only briefly, for Andrew beat two more of Bo's times the next day. I suppose he could pass Jonathan by concentrating on just those two records (he is 0.2 behind in AF), but word is that he may not play for a few weeks.
As mentioned, #21 Andrew Math is still going strong. This week marks the first time Bo and his real-life friend #22 Jake Sopcak have been separated in the charts for a long time. Andrew's 1.3pt AF cut was enough to pass two players this week, one of whom was Jake.
#48 Matt Tanzer narrowly got in front of newcomer #46 Jeremy Malartre last week, but the tables turned against him this time. Jeremy had a strong showing, accumulating a 5.3pt AF cut from 7 PRs. Matt made a 2.3pt cut himself, passing #49 Jonathan Eyma. Jeremy passed the same, as well as #47, and he also reached Titan A.
#57 Joey Michorius, newly crowned Titan C, raced 9 PRs for a 3.9pt cut. It doesn't sound so big, but Joey is in a densely populated region of players and passed 6 players. It's shame he's not French, because four of his victims were. If Joey wants to reach the top-50, he will have to pass three Dutchies in a row -- #50 Koen, #51 Bart and #52 Steven.
Fellow Dutchie #69 Jerrol Hoppenbrouwers is not quite close enough to Joey to give him any headaches just yet, but he's making his way towards #66 Ivo van der Stap. Jerrol passed four well-known MKDDers this week: veterans #70 Paul Regeffe and #71 Pasrtnah Bahjo, and Americans #72 Rob Chastain and #73 Jon Prentice. Not an uneventful week.
#134 Andrew Manning and #140 Andrew Johnson are having a little trouble taming #129 Alessandra Martinelli, who has once against taken a shiny golden lead in her rivalry. She trails AM in course totals, but leads the other stats. Armed with 16 PRs, she passed six players in the charts and broke the 9 minute barrier in lap totals. Despite all that, Andrew does have something big, hard, impressive and desirable that Alessandra doesn't: a top-100 time. He raced a Hero A course time on Mush Bridge that ranks 87th!
Part of the same rivalry, #146 Rosalinda Cancino spent a bit of time making up lost ground. She calls it a 'sweet comeback': a 25 PR week (some of them perhaps set before). That roughly translated to a 30pt AF cut and 32 positions. While the rivalry page doesn't show her with any rivalry wins, you could say that Rosalinda is right back into the action. All 5 players in the rivalry (the other is #139 Kenny Cott) are within 17 places of each other. Go go go!
More comebacks: #159 Alexandre Vaesken, who has been away since 2005, reported 13 new PRs a few days ago. Crazy long break. He cut 9pts in AF to move up about ten places, but there's no doubt that he's lost a whole big giant bunch of places on the ladder since he went away. Will he make those places up again?
#211 Patrick Hewson cut his distance to reaching the top-200 in half this week. Well, at least in terms of positions. He still needs 20pts in AF to actually get there. One person who did just that is Ryan Stevens, who could last week be found where Patrick is now, and who can this week be found at #200 with a 18pt AF cut and wearing a new 'Expert B' tattoo. #199 Jeremy Huang denied Ryan a top-200 finish, stealing the 199th spot with a single PR this week.
#355 Zach Tabak. 67pt cut. Top-400. Adv B, skipping Adv C. (i.e. he's a new guy.) On a similar vein, #489 Alvaro Fababu made it into the top-500 and to Intermediate A status.
Honourable mentions: #370 Marco D'Angelo (Adv B)
New Records
There were 2 WRs, both coming from the godly heavens.
Aron beat Hendrik's 27'97 record lap on Dry Dry Desert with a 27"915 G+3. Hendrik's G+2 time was from December.
Hendrik responded by taking back the Yoshi Circuit lap record that Aron had taken from him, beating Aron's 32'28 with a 32"267. Both times are G+3.

His Royal Dutchiness the First Duke of Dutchland (#1 Aron Langerak) was active this week, scoring 1 WR. Expectedly, #6 Marijn Jongbloed attempted -- but failed -- to slip ahead of #5 Vincent van der Fluit and become the second-in-line to the Dutch duchy's dux. Vince, a nobleman of the House of Fluit, has held that position for some time now. Some people still like to call him 'King Vince', despite no longer being top. We suspect that Vince does not wish to marry Aron to keep his second-in-line safe, while Marijn's has marryaron written all over his name. Expect Marijn to complete the coup by next week.
#7 Jean-Christophe Lacastaignerate made twice as large a cut as Marijn, but is still out by 1.7 AF pts. At least, he is building a lead over #9 Konsta Jukka. Despite already making the top-10, Konsta clearly doesn't wish to spot just yet -- he made 5 PRs this week. Another 0.2 AF pts will take him ahead of #8 Marius Mollenhauer.
On the western front, #15 Bo Garman seems to be the only active Myth A-D player, but #14 Jonathan Steel continues to elude him. He won't be from now on, because #23 Andrew Math has now reached Myth D. Andrew passed a hurdle in #28 Alejandro Hernandez, a player who joined slightly before Bo and who has been inactive since December. With this, Andrew has become the #3 player in the USA, and replaces Jake as the owner of the the only records Bo doesn't have. He currently trails Bo (of course), and Bo's Chicago training buddy, #21 Jake Sopcak. Andrew scored 18 PRs that ranged from Myth+ to Titan D. That's a big range, so he may have untapped potential in some courses. Bo improved 5 PRs, hitting two god times.
The second-half of the top-50 had some good action, starting with #32 Alex Hantson tying #32 Michael Duerr in AF. Alex passed #34-37 Rodolphe, Trystan, Stefan and Stephen with his 11 PRs and 4.1pt AF cut. Also also made it to Titan+, while Michael needs just two more standards. About ten steps behind, #41 Kevin Borne made an equally nice 4.8pt AF cut to pass 5 players, including #42 Thomas van Leeuwen, #43 Benoit Boudreau and #46 David Grard. These three players would have had bigger cuts had it not been for the introduction of #50 Jeremy Malartre, a French player who has supposedly been following the site for some but avoided officially joining. #48 Matt Tanzer sent in a handful of PRs in the final days of the month to pass Jeremy's high debut and ensure a safe placement in the top-50. Matt also reached Titan B.
#82 Scott Abbey lost a rival in Andres dos Santos because he was suspected of being a JCM faker. Scott seems to have made the most of it, scoring 8 PRs for a 6pt AF cut. He moved up 8 places and passed three fellow Americans, with the next ones located at #71-72: Rob Chastain and Jon Prentice. #73 Jerrol Hoppenbrouwers joined the top-75 this week, and should be able pass those two particular players, himself.
#112 Florian Vaz continues his comeback from last week, this time scoring a 6pt AF cut. It's not very big, but he's warming up. Florian is one position behind fellow Frenchman and former world champ, #111 Cesar Martin. Another player on a possible comeback track is #120 Dan Furst. Apart from his 13 new PRs this week, his others date to mid-2006. He passed 8 players, including countryman #125 Matt Flees.
The rivalry between the girl(s) and guys is still quite active. #148 Andrew Johnson made it to the top-150 and may soon reach Hero in ARR. #134 Andrew Manning couldn't run very far from #135 Alessandra Martinelli, who made up 3 positions on him. But they both made it to Hero D!
#139 Kenny Cott feels reborn after a 9 month break from the game, and came out with some big PRs within 30 minutes of picking up his controller (or so he says). Kenny didn't specify the stimulus, but it's possible that he didn't like a girl reaching Hero (Heroine?) while he was still Expert A. Kenny narrowly missed out on the rank promotion, but should get it with his next few PRs. Whether he will keep up with Alessandra is a different story: she's beaten up lots of men. Kenny's 13 PRs included his strongest time so far, a Hero A top-100 lap in Mush Bridge.
#223 Patrick Hewson is picking up a little bit of pace. He's PRing almost every day now, and gathered 12 PRs over the week. They were enough for an 18pt AF cut, or about 21 places in the ranks. He's yet to score his first Hero time, but he wasn't far from it with his twin Exp A in Wario Colosseum. Pat should be able to get to the top-200 within two weeks if he maintains the pace of daily PRs, but he will probably not get there before #210 Ryan Stevens. Ryan made a huge 48 pt cut to end the month, almost pulling himself into the top-200. Ryan's highlight PR was a Titan B lap in Peach Beach that ranks 71st on the charts. Ryan promises to make a movie of it soon.
#273 Mark Engelsman became the latest Expert, skipping Adv A entirely to jump into Exp D. His 1.8pt ARR cut was big, but his 79pt AF cut puts his week into better perspective. He moved up from being over 350th last week, and tripled his AF cut. Being a Dutchie, you never know how long he will keep up such a crazy PR smashing pace. Mark scored 30 PRs, twenty of which were Expert level. No Hero times yet, but you can tell they're coming.
Honourable mentions: #401 Julien Cloutier-Brassard (Adv C), #423 Jacob McMillin (Adv D), #514 Alvaro Fababu (Int B).
New Records
There was 1 record this week. Aron beat his own 27"79 lap of Mario Circuit with a 27"781. It's still a G+4 time, but makes a 0.02 lead on Richard.
