What's new?
I'm Late, I'm Late, For A Very Important Date.

I forgot to update yesterday
Movement
#2 Hendrik Bunde scored 4 PRs and dropped back below 4.0 on AF, cutting Raphael's lead to below half a point once again. #3 Vincent van der Fluit lost ground on a few levels, and his AF suffered a 0.2 increase. This puts Hendrik also a full AF point ahead of Vince again.
#6 Marius Mollenhauer is attempting a comeback, cutt 0.7 AF points to tie Paul Maes for 6th place. He scored 4 PRs, and they were the first that he has reported for 11 months (maybe he snacked a girl more than he should have, and had to go to the army to prepare for his new role). Jokes aside, most of Marius's scores were new 60Hz records. He must be trying out the new SSMT technique, so expect more PRs.
This is bad news for Olivier, who has been steadily catching up to Marius for some time now. He even got to within one position of him (#6 vs #7), even though he was 3 pts away in AF. Olivier is still doing good, scoring a 0.6 cut in AF himself. It will take another four or so such efforts to catch Paul Maes, before being able to worry about Marius again.
#13 Aron Langerak had a cool week last week to out-cool the week before, and had another cool week this time to equi-cool the one before this. With a cool 10 PRs this time, he didn't gain any positions. Well, it's because the gap between #12 Paul Tanney and #14 Yannick Plebani is over 3pts. But Aron's drop brings him on the closer side to Paul. It's a long way towards the top 10, but maybe he's Aron is setting his sights him. That's pretty cool.
#15 Nathan Cromwell became the third-ranked 60Hz player last week after passing Bo Garman, but #17 Bo has picked up controller again and made up 2 places in reply. Nathan passed #16 Luke Mulders and should pass #14 Yannick Plebani soon, but Bo made a slightly bigger cut to indicate that he's catching up. There's only half an AF pt between them at the moment, so a single week can easily turn things around. And, if you wish to believe it, Nate has reduced his AF to 5.499999999999*, so he's a Myth D. Apparently. Numbers don't lie. (* - I may have added a few extra 9's for hyperbole.)
#25 Alejandro Hernandez is steadily catching up to #24 Gregor Fran, netting a 0.5 AF pt larger cut than Gregor this week. Gregor is now 0.4 behind 60Hz rival Olivier Lavenant, but Alejandro is 0.5 behind Gregor. So somebody is going to be passing somebody soon, and it will be a 60Hz player.
While #31 Jake Sopcak scored the second largest drop from the top-50 players, his effort was eclipsed (at first glance on the ladder, at least) by #30 Jean-Christophe Lacastaignerate's 6.4 AF cut, moving up 6 places. JCL reported 15 new PRs, but we're not sure how long he's been hoarding In any case, JCL is close to breaking into the top 30, and has become the 10th ranked Frenchman (being top-ranked in your country - if you're unlucky enough to live in France - is tough). He cut almost a full rank in ARR, now earning Titan A.
#38 Bart Janssen-Bouwmeester must have realised he's right behind #39 Steven Zwartjes, and scored a few comeback PRs to beat him out by one position on the ladder. He says he's officially back, so we should be expecting more PRs, I guess. Curiously enough, one place ahead of Bart is #37 David Grard, who (IIRC) used to be champ back in Bart's earlier days.
Say hello to the newest Titan, #58 Stacy Needham, who has been scoring daily PRs for a surge towards the top 50. His 7.9 pt AF cut moves him up 6 places. Reaching #50 Jonathan Eyma will require another 9 AF pts. Stacy scored 15 PRs, including a Myth A 8'61 Baby Park lap ranked in the top 20.
#101 Piet den Dulk loves to tease us, and remains on the tip of the top 100. He scored 6 PRs, so at least we have a sign that he's active in multiple courses. A repeat of this week's effort should let him catch up to #99 Arnaud Palierne
#110 John Hornick is coming up on the outside, to hopefully spur Piet into a canter. John's 12 PRs on the back straight and new Hero D title give him tailwind momentum to carry into the bell-lap and reach the top 100 before Piet. But punters shouldn't scratch Piet out just yet, since he's been plodding and not showing us his potential. While Piet has pole position to reach the wire, John's recent mile-rate is higher and he may coast a win. Hmm. Expect a photo finish?
#136 Andrew Math is calculating his (wait, I think I used that joke already... >_<) own ride towards the top 100, with a ginormous... okay, well it's pretty big... 27 pt AF cut. He collected 24 PRs for a cut this size, but moved up 26 places with it. If he can pull off a similar one next week, he may reach John.
#167 Joey Michorius was a little quiet last week, but he reported 32 new PRs to score a 22 pt AF cut. He was already top 200, but his new batch of times puts him almost 30 places higher, passing B-grade celebrities such as Bill Lacey, Marius Hukkelaas and Dean Barnhart. Joey is still keeping up good pace and not slowing down too much, so he should be able to go a fair bit higher. Like Jongerius.
Newcomer #212 Eric Larson's first week ended up in a nifty 19 pt AF cut. It's no fun going solo, so Eric's movement gave #215 Robert Szabo a bit of a run - Robert made a larger cut of 23pts, but Eric started ahead and finished ahead. Inbetween this duo are #213 Flynn Hoppenbrouwers and #213 Ewan Stephens, both active and moving forward. Two places behind the quartet lies #217 Stanislas Arnoud, who moved up 8 places and passing a few familiar names (Craig Lubbers, Michael Jensen, Michael Campbell). So that makes 5 active players withint 6 consecutive slots. Someone should give Enzio Fruijtier a nudge to make it a sextet. Unfortunately, these guys seem to be improving at different rates, so they may not remain so chummy for very long.
#251 Pat 'call me Hewson' Awesome is pulling off some nice 20-pt cuts as well, scoring 16 PRs - most of them Exp D and Adv A. To his credit, he passed former champion (or something) #270 Mark Jones. Too bad that he stopped so close to top #250. Another PR could do it. #281 Jared Stiefel's 30 PRs resulted in a ginormous...okay, well it's pretty big... 60 pt AF cut, easily cruising past the 300 mark. Supposedly school's out, which gives Jared lots of time to improve his game. He's Adv B now.
#371 Ned Furtney got the highest numerical cut of the week with a 87 pt AF drop. Good news is that his drop was huge and he passed too many people for me to list. And he skipped past two ranks to reach Int A. Bad news is that he ended up just shy of the half-way mark - there's 733 karters who have sent in scores, so 366 would be about the middle. He also needs, like, 2 more PRs to get promoted to Advanced. Brother John is up at #170, so Ned might have been getting some coaching... but he should try to score a few more PRs than what John advises
Honourable mentions: #214 Ewan Stephens (Exp C), #~337 Robert Chastain (Adv C).
New Records
Hendrik Bunde tied Raphael Segas's G+9 overall WR on Baby Park lap, with a 8"544 of his own. They are 0.01 ahead of the next best time.
Three players scored WRs in 60Hz.
Olivier Peruch's Sherbet Land time of 1'14"896 complements his SL lap record from last week, and is 0.11 ahead of Marius. It's a Myth time, and 0.3 behind the overall record.
Nathan Cromwell refuses to let Alan DeLoriea take the 60hz and American BP lap record away, scoring a 8"572 against Alan's 8"576, on the same day. Both scores are G+3, but next two best 60hz times (Bo Garman and Olivier Peruch) are very close behind them (about 0.01 between all four players).
Marius Mollenhauer's comeback includes three new 60Hz records in Mushroom Cup. His new Luigi Circuit lap of 24"485 is GD, and 2nd overall - Raphael is still 0.04 ahead. Marius's new time puts a 0.1 lead over Olivier Peruch for this level. Jake Sopcak and Alejandro Hernandez scored some strong laps on LC at the close of the week, almost beating out Olivier for second spot.
Marius also regained both Peach Beach records, which he had lost to Olivier. His 1'08"288 ranked GD, and is 0.07 faster than Olivier's M+ time from a month ago. His new 21"886 lap on the level beats Olivier by 0.03. It is 3rd overall, and G+2.
The new 60hz records give Marius the lead in the tally over Olivier, with 16 WRs to 12. Nathan is next, with 2 on BP.

Movement
#2 Hendrik Bunde scored three PRs this week to remain steady, while #1 Raphael Segas was inactive and suffered a few defeats. The AF difference between them is now 0.56 AF pts.
#3 Vincent van der Fluit might be giving Hendrik a scare about now, with a 0.43 AF drop to take him within 0.6 pts of the German in the AF ladder. If Vince can keep this pace for the rest of the month and if the two guys before him don't PR, he'll overtake at least one of them. But that's a lot of "ifs".
#11 Tristan Eyma is continuing his comeback that began last week. He scored 6 PRs ths week, all of them Myth times. Tristan's AF droped by 2.9 AF pts, which places him ahead of #12 Paul Tanney, and within striking distance of #10 Fernando Moritz dos Santos. If he can reach Fernando (0.3 pts ahead), he'll be then after Rene Bauer (another 2 pts ahead). If he wants to reach countryman #8 Olivier Peruch, he'll need yet another 1pt after Rene
Continuing last week's push, #13 Aron Langerak scored 15 more PRs. Most of them were Myth and Titans, but he got a God time in BP. The relatively small 2.12 pt cut (considering how many PRs he got!) was actually very useful, helping him pass 5 players, including fellow Dutchie #15 Luke Mulders. Some bonus good news for Aron is that his 0.5 ARR cut puts him into Myth territory, and he's promoted to Myth D. Nathan Cromwell kept up with Aron last week, but couldn't match Aron's 15 PRs. He scored 9, including one G+2 (also BP), and moved up 3 places. He passed a pair of Frenchman and he took the 60Hz third-spot away from Bo Garman, who slipped one down to #19. This seems to make Nathan the strongest player in the Americas, with the top two 60Hz players (#7 Marius and #8 Olivier) hailing from Europe.
#24 Gregor Fran, #26 Alejandro Hernandez and #31 Jake Sopcak were the next three active 60Hz players, and all are from the US. Jake moved up two spots, thanks to a healthy 8 PRs, and earned Titan A in the process. Alejandro tried to make a move on Gregor, but had to settle for passing #27 Trystan Pugh instead. Gregor slipped a few PRs near the end of the week to extend his lead over Alejandro by another 0.7 (he is currently 1.1 pts ahead). There's just four players between Gregor and Bo Garman, and a couple of them are 60Hz. This may give Gregor sub-goals on his way to catching Bo again.
We've received some old PRs from Yohann Ghignet. They amounted to a 5pt AF cut, which puts Yohann in 48th spot and a part of the top-50. Curiously, we have 5 played on the AF ladder whose names begin with "Y", and 3 of them (Yohan, Yoann and Yohann ) are within five places of each other. All you other "Yohan" players out there, it's almost certain that you belong in the top 50 as well!
#99 Arnaud Palierne is top-100 now, having stopped at 100th last week. His rival buddy #102 Piet den Dulk made a nice 4pt cut to pass two other celebrities (#104 Matt Flees and #103 Lars Nouwen) and catch up to Arnaud. There's barely 3 AF pts separating them now, which Piet can do in a single week. Will Piet finally catch Arnaud and get back in the top 100 by next week? Sure! Maybe...
Some action in the upper 100s indicates that #162 Andrew Math is the quickest mover alongside up-and-comers #161 Dan Walker and #173 Matt Pugh. Andrew's 35 pt AF cut (23 PRs) moved him up 35 places, while Dan's 15 pt cut moved him up 6 places (15 PRs). Both players made large enough cuts in ARR to reach Expert B. They're neck-and-neck for now, but Andrew seems to enjoy SSMTs (apparently) and may invest the extra time to reach the top 150 first. Matt's been away for a couple weeks, but reported 28 PRs for his 31 pt AF cut, which netted an almost 45-position improvement (the pack is packed tightly near the 200-mark). His closest UK rival in front is Dan, so Matt may want to keep up with him. Matt reached Expert C, and should join Andrew and Dan into Expert B next week... if they're still there
While #215 Flynn Hopperbrouwers is showing signs that he can move up another fifteen places by the end of the month (he took a week-long break, but came back with 11 PRs and a 9 pt cut), #198 Luke Henderson's 21 PRs and 21 pt cut helped him break the top 200. Maybe next week for Flynn?
Canada's #300 Noah Murad improved all 32 PRs this week, bringing them to about mid-Advanced level. Although just missing out on breaking the top 300, he did register a triple-digit cut (105 pts) for the week, which is nice to see. He didn't have a full set of times when he joined three weeks ago, so the large figure is understandable. Noah passed a few newcomers on his way, but they're doing pretty decent themselves. #327 Adam Peifer overtook #329 Jared Steifel, despite the latter scoring a 20 pt Cut. A third US player, #328 Brian Smith, squeezed in between them. UK's #336 Rhodri Morgan kept within ten places of Adam by equalling Adam's AF cut of 35 pts, and moved up 37 places. Adam and Jared reached Adv C in ARR, while Rhodri was promoted to Adv D.
Honourable mentions: #50 Benoit Boudreau (Titan C), #64 Stacy Needham (Hero A), #233 Robert Szabo (Expert D), #269 Patrick Hewson (Adv A), #394 Ryan DeMaster (top-400, became Int A).
New Records
Just one this week - Hendrik Bunde scored a 21"856 on Peach Beach. It's 0.02 faster than Raphael and 0.04 faster than Maes, qualifying for G+3.
In 60Hz, there were two records. Nathan Cromwell's 1'04"921 on Baby Park, a Myth A time, is 0.02 faster than Olivier Peruch's time from two weeks ago. Nathan tried to steal Olivier's lap, too, but missed out by just 0.002. Meanwhile, Olivier scored a new record on Sherbet Land. His 24"061 lap is 0.08 slower than the overall record, but 0.07 faster than the next 60Hz player (Marius). It's a Myth C time.
New Players

Just a small word of caution: apparently YahooGroups has a temporary problem where some messages don't go through. The MKDS crew has experienced this, and I think MKDD might have similar issues. It's not our fault.
Movement
#3 Vincent van der Fluit scored a bunch of WRs to cut 0.4pts, and has a 0.6 lead over #4 Richard Karlsson. He is currently 1.06 pts behind Hendrik Bunde. Not far behind, #6 Paul Maes is slowly catching up to #5, cutting 0.3 this week to bring his AF to within 0.5pts of Jonathan Steel. Another few good PRs might do it (his PRs lately have been Gods or low Myths, yet Paul still has a few high-Titan times that he could benefit from improving).
We received 6 PRs from Tristam Eyma, the POY-candidate who has been missing for 6 months. Among his PRs were a God and G+1 score on BP lap and PB lap, and all 6 times were in the first three courses - it seems Tristan is trying to improve course by course! (Hmm, where have we seen this recently??) These 6 scores are fresh-in from the 2nd last submission to get through, so for all we know, Tristan is karting right now His PRs were enough for a 4.2pt AF cut, which passed about 8 players (they're all pretty tight in that region)! More good news for Tristan - Myth D! He had just enough to reach it.
Tristan made a good move to pull ahead, since there is a close battle where he used to be, between #=16 Xavier Valentin, #18 Aron Langerak and #19 Nathan Cromwell. All three of these players had almost exactly the same scores last week. This week, Nathan improved 4.0 AF (16 PRs) and two places. Aron improved by 0.3pts more than Nathan (20 PRs), and is 0.25 ahead of him. Xavier improved by 0.2 more than Aron (12 PRs), and is 0.3 ahead of him. Meanwhile, all three of these guys are quite close to passing #=16 Bo Garman and #15 Cedric Willo.
Everyone's favourite Chicago player #33 Jake Sopcak has reported 6 PRs after a month's absence. Good enough for a 1.5pt cut and good enough to make up a couple of positions and get into the news. He's 2 AF pts away from becoming 10th in 60Hz, which is currently held by #32 Kyle Clayton (one position ahead of him). Jake also scored a couple of USA records along the way.
Speaking of USA records, tough break for #67 Alan DeLoriea. The American scored a God time for the US on Baby Park lap (8'597) only to have it beat by US champ Bo Garman the same day, with a 8'596... 0.001! Ah well, cookies crumble. Both players are 0.05 ahead of the next-placed US player, Gregor Fran. Fortunately I have some good news for Alan - his 3.7pt AF cut allows him to pass 3 players. And he's stepping on the heels of two US players (#65 David Lalo and #66 Jeff Gutierrez) and can pass them with only a couple of PRs. He also became Hero A.
POW #70 Stacy Needham continues from last week's great week with a pretty good week this time. The 10pt AF cut helps him to another 9 positions on the ladder. Highlights include a Titan B score on BP lap, which is top-40.
#84 Arnaud Guepey has reported some scores after 1.5 months away. His times include Expert A and Titan A times, so they're a little bit uneven. The 11 PRs amount to a 6.6pt AF cut, and 7 positions. Close behind is #92 Andre Overesch, who pretty much joined last week (though he's obviously had some practice behind closed doors) at 106. So his 8.5pt AF cut in his first official week as part of the community saw him cross over into the top-100. Not bad. He reached Hero C in ARR, too. Andre's movement drops Florian Chollet back to 99th place, while Arnaud Palierne, who cut 2.2pts this week and was about to enter double-digits, is sitting on 100th.
#164 Erik Houke emulated his 29pt cut from last week with a 28pt cut this week. That's another ~25 positions improvement for him. Unfortunately for Erik, there don't seem to be too many active players surrounding him, so he'll have to play without any nearby rivals for a little while. Meanwhile, #189 Derrick Koehler has safely broken into the top-200, having been exactly 200th last week. This also places him ahead of his son, #195 Michael Stokes ;D #194 Joey Michorius was another addition to the top 200. "Jongerius Jr" amassed 23 PRs over the week, which resulted in a 26pt cut. It makes Joey pass a couple of Dutchies (awesomely-named #210 Enzio Fruijtier and #198 Niels Duijvesteijn). There are more of them coming, in the forms of #192 Jamie Tio, #177 Arno Bats and #170 Menno Kos (remember them?). Yet another player who passed the top-200 barrier was #197 Andrew Math. He was already close, so he needed just a little nudge.
#241 Robert Szabo is slowing down quite a bit, halving his previous week's cut to 21 AF pts this week. Good enough for 19 places. But some of us here at Update HQ think he's just toying with you, and pretending to be weak. You'll see... very soon... explosions! And Dutch virii and stuff. Seems like Robert's times are quite evened out Exp C-Adv B, only 3 ranks apart. Maybe he should try to stick to just one track for a while, instead of spreading himself out. Y'know, get the feel and notice all the finer points of the MT in just one track. Then he might have new skills to apply to the other tracks.
As you'd expect, the new players are tearing up the tracks. #341 Adam Peifer is in his first week here, and moved up 50 positions with a 40pt cut. #373 Rhodi Morgan made his first proper/non-initiation submission, scoring 28 PRs for a 57pts and 50 positions cut. #460 Jeff Kottcamp had a massive 63pt cut (31 PRs) for 58 places. Some of these players had equally ridiculous cuts in ARR, but their ranks will probably change by next week
Honourable mentions: #56 Ivo van der Stap (newest Titan!).
New Records
Rampaging Vincent van der Fluit took his total WR tally to 7 this week.
After last week's great WR by Olivier Peruch on Mushroom Bridge (sub 1'19 in 60Hz), Vincent has edged it by 0.13 seconds for a G+2 time of 1'18"845. Vince and Olivier are still the only two with sub-19's, though Paul Maes sneaked into 3rd place with a 1'19'09 earlier in the week.
You may remember Vince beatin Cedric Willo's MB lap by 0.001 and Cedric beating him back by another tiny margin. This week, Vince added a the lap WR of 25"819 to his above course WR. This is also a G+2 time, and is 0.02 faster than Cedric (much larger difference than before!).
Vince really likes Mushrooms, so he also played Mushroom City. Another heated battle here between him and Willo. Vince's new course WR of 1'34"906 is the first sub-1'35 and a G+4. Cedric time from about 2 weeks ago was a 1'35"01, barely missing out. Aron Langerak scored a 1'35"59 here yesterday - not quite enough to scare Vince, but still top-5.
Vince really really likes Mushrooms, so he also played the Mush City lap. 31"045 on it, which is 0.004 faster than Cedric. Both these players are 0.17 faster than anyone else, so these top two times must be really insane. They are both G+5.
But that's not all. Vince also likes Marios, not just Mushrooms. His new WR of 1'28"155 in Mario Circuit is 0.06 faster than Raphael Segas's Myth B time from 360 days ago. There has been some activity on MB in the past month, with 4 of the top 5 times being updated within the previous 30 days. Maybe Vince's WR will incite some more heated activity on this course.
Last of the overall WRs was a 1'37"614 in Daisy Cruiser, by Paul Maes. It's the first Myth+ time here, leading Hendrik Bunde's MythA time by 0.04.
In 60Hz, Olivier Peruch improved a record he already had - Yoshi Circiut 1'41"520. It's top-5 overall still, and narrowly misses out on beating Raphael Segas. Olivier's time is one position and 0.09 faster than the next best 60Hz time, by Marius Mollenhauer. Olivier's 60Hz WR total is still 16, over Marius' 14.

Movement
If you're one of those people who reads the New Records before the Movement, then you're probably wondering how all those colourful times are affecting Olivier Peruch. He was the only person in the top 20 to have visible signs of improvement... other players were either inactive or very quiet. Olivier averaged around 3 PRs a day until the 28th, and had 16 PRs by the end of the week to reach #8. That's a lot of PRs for a top-10 player. The resulting 3.4pt AF cut helped him mover past #9 Rene Bauer, #10 Fernando Moritz, and #11 Paul Tanney. The good news is that he's now top-10, is now two places behind 60Hz champ #6 Marius Mollenhauer, and reached Myth C. The bad news is that #7 Paul Maes is 4 AFpts ahead, so Olivier needs to do even better that his amazing week to beat Paul within the next 7 days. Also, there is rumour of Marius returning to reclaim his "stolen" 60Hz WRs.
It was a week with several returning players. #11 Paul Tanney made his first PR in 5 months, and #26 Gregor Fran also showed signs of life. #22 Xavier Valentin returned earlier this month after 10-months absence, and he added another 10 PRs to his comeback this week. The newly-crowned Titan+ Frenchman made a 4.5pt AF cut to slide into 22nd, passing 6 players. #23 Aron Langerak is keeping up with Xavier, improving by 5.0 AF pts and also moving up six. He is one place behind Xavier, and trails by 0.7 AF pts. In the same region, #21 Nathan Cromwell scored 5 PRs, which brought him very close to #20 Olivier Lavenant. But Olivier matched Nathan's weekly drop and pulled slightly ahead once more. Both players are approaching the top 20, and #19 Kristopher Will. Cromwell, Lavenant AND Langerak all reached Titan+ in ARR this week... some of them by the skin of their teeth (0.003 for Aron, thanks to having one G+1 score).
#49 Benoit Boudreau has broken into the top 50, moving up 3 places. His AF cut was just 0.4, but the people around him lost enough ground for him to pass them. He's mostly been concentrating on LC this week, and scored him first Myth time (Myth D) with his 24'65 lap. Another player with their first Myth time was #60 Arnau Teil. Arnaud's 17 PRs were his first this year, and resulted in as 12pts AF drop that moved Arnaud passed ten payers. #59 Marijn Jongbloed is trying to restrain Arnaud's streak, by scoring a nice 4pt AF cut himself, and remaining one position ahead. Another active person in the region is #56 Thomas van Leeuwen, who has returned for more MKDD following a stint with Need for Speed. Thomas scored three PRs, his first since March.
For the second week running, #79 Stacy Needham was one of the most active players. His 24 new PRs caused a huge 24.3 AF pt cut, enough to propel Stacy from 105th to 26 positions lower. He added four more Titan times to his exiting pair (in RR) from earlier in the month, and is now playing catch-up with #71 Michael Duerr (who's settling himself into his new home within the top-75). Stacy's 1.37 ARR cut made him Hero C, and only a few PRs away from Hero B.
Several active players near the top-100 mark have been added to a new rivalry. In particular, newcomer #106 Andre Overesch is in the lead, followed by #98 Florian Chollet, who broke into the top 100 this week. Perennial rivals #108 Piet den Dulk and #103 Arnaud Palierne are obviously on the list, since they both always fight and they're both always near the top 100 cutoff. Arnaud is currently a few positions ahead of Piet. Also, Belgian #111 Christophe Cosentino has been added to the rivalry, and is trailing by a little bit. He's recently fixed his TV trouble and may be able to get back into the action, so we expect some PRs from him soon - maybe competitive-enough PRs to make him turn the rivalry around in his favour.
Some of the new names are getting into the sprit of competition. #177 Dan Walker cut 15 AF pts in his first week to instantly break into the top 200 (he was only 202nd before). Dan's times are very consistent, all in the Exp A-C region. #191 Erik Houke also made it into the top 200, with an even bigger cut of 29 pts. Erik has also been sharing his time between all tracks to maintain an even sheet, and all his times are Exp B-D (and he reached Exp C overall this week).
Family duo #194 Michael Stokes and father #200 Derrick Koehler are also looking to be top-200 players together. Michael's 7pt cut was enough, which Derrick doubled that for a 15pt cut and landed exactly on 200th. Also a new addition, #201 Andrew Math didn't anticipate Derrick's drop and miscalculated his huge 63pt AF drop to leave him at 201st place at the end of the month. We expect him to break the barrier any day now. #211 Matt Pugh, who submits a handful of PRs every 7 days like clockwork, is also expected to break into the top 200 by the end of this week. Andrew, Michael and #197 Jivago Pacheco da Silva all reached Exp C in ARR, while Derrick is just a few standards short.
MKDS recruit and Adv A player #260 Robert Szabo started off well last week, but couldn't maintain the triple-digit pace. Nevertheless, his 52pt AF cut saw him improve almost fifty places. Assuming he can do something similar next week, he may reach #228 Joey Michorous soon. Joey became the most recent Expert player (Exp D), and produced 24 PRs for a 20pt AF cut. A similar effort next week will see him push the towards the top 200.
Honourable mentions: #128 John Hornick, #307 Greg Teppic (Adv B), #344 Jared Steifel (Adv D), #418 Ryan DeMaster (Int B).
New Records
Cedric Willo made some Mushroom City records last week, and improved his lap record by another 0.02. His new 31"049 is G+5 and 0.06 faster the Vincent van der Fluit.
Cedric also ran some Mushroom Bridge laps last week, and this week his countryman Olivier Peruch scored a G+1 on the course time. Olivier's 1'18"972 is the first score under 1'19 and is 0.12 faster than Vincent van der Fluit's GD time from 4 weeks ago.
In another little twist, Olivier scored a second overall WR, this time 31"509 lap in Daisy Cruiser. His time is yet another 60Hz God standard, and beat Richard Karlsson's 31"64 from Nov last year.
Can't get enough Olivier? Well, those ones were overall record. He also made a bunch of 60Hz-only records. Take a deep breath now... LC 1'15"694 24"588, PB 1'08"350, BP 1'04"943 8"583, YC 1'41"607 32"615, DDJ 33"333. Let's see them in a bit more detail.... The Luigi Circuit is ranked 5th overall, 0.5 behind the WR. It's Myth B, which leads Marius Mollenhauer by 2 standards and 5 places on this track. The LC lap was a lucky break for Olivier, beating Marius by just 1 position, 1 standard, and 0.01. The Peach Beach course time is Myth+, top-5 overall, and leads Marius and Alejandro Hernandez by almost 0.5 seconds (both Myth C). As for the lap... Olivier already got it last week In Baby Park, Nathan Cromwell and Olivier are the two 60Hzers with a sub-1'05. Nathan scored his "986 (Myth B) earlier this week, but Olivier's "943 (also Myth B) was 0.04 faster. The lap was also very close between these two - Olivier's 8"588 narrowly beat Nathan's 8"592 from earlier in the week. Lucky for Olivier, his time scraped by the standard barrier to claim G+2, while Nathan settled for a G+1. Nate and Ollie are followed by Olivier Lavenant at 8"61, which you may remember was the 60Hz record a few weeks ago. Olivier got another lucky break over Marius in Yoshi Circuit, with his course time being only 0'010 faster. While not a very convincing win (Marius's time is 11 months old), Olivier did gain the 5th best time overall. Olivier's lap was also 5th overall, leading Marius by 0.04 and reaching a new standard. Finally, the Dino Dino lap is 2nd and 0.1 behind the overall WR, but it's 0.1 quicker than Marius. Marius was already very strong in this track, though (his 10-month old time is still 4th place). Both time are Myth A. Overall, a lot of WRs swapper their ownership from Marius to Olivier, and now Olivier has 16 of the 60Hz WRs (Marius has 14, while Regeffe and Pugh have 1 each).
