POQ
Voting for the Player of the Quarter (the three-month period of Jan, Feb, March this year) is open in the poll page. There were a lot of new karters who had 100+ pt AF cuts, but there were also some high rankings guys chopping off the big percentages. Aron reached #1 in the last few days of the March, but he also got beaten by two girls in the AF % category . Anyway, go vote. |

Movement
#6 Marijn Jongbloed and #7 Jean-Christophe Lacastaignerate both improved a little bit, scoring a couple of PRs each. The cuts were small, but it's good that the players are active. Marijn may pass #5 Vincent van der Fluit by the next update...
#9 Konsta Jukka also made a small AF cut, after scoring 4 PRs (3 God). He passed #10 Raphael Segas for a single-digit position! #7 Jean-Christophe and #8 Marius Mollenhauer are just around the corner.
#15 Bo Garman, #22 Marc Schwartz and #30 Andrew Math all had small improvements, but didn't quite manage to pass new players. Bo did get a new title, however -- Myth B.
#37 Alex Hantson had yet another solid week, this time scoring 9 PRs for a 4.2 AF cut. He passed three players with this (#38 Kyle, #39 Jean, #40 Andre), but he still has some work to do in becoming the best 'Alex', for #27 Alejandro Hernandez is more than 10 AF pts ahead. Alex's PRs included two God times on the 'obvious' levels (BP/PB laps), but also some Myth scores. He became a Titan A, too!
#46 Kevin Borne passed fellow Frenchman Jonathan Eyma and is just one spot behind former champion David Grard. Kevin had a big week of 16 PRs, and his 6.6 pt AF cut got him past 8 players. His victims included #50 Steven Zwartjes, #52 Stefan Baczynsky, #53 Andre Overesch and #54 Martin Rudmarker. Apart from breaking the top-50, Kevin also became Titan B!
#55 Matt Tanzer reported 4 new PRs that included 2x Myth D on Baby Park. He passed three players with his 3.0 AF cut. Matt is now up against the same set of players that Kevin Borne passed, but in order to reach just 50th spot, he will need an even smaller AF cut that he had this week.
Americans #86 Andres Oliveira dos Santos and #90 Scott Abbey are having a small battle in the Hero region. Scott passed Andres in ARR, but Andres put a few players between him and Scott (for now). Scott's latest PRs include a Titan+ lap. Andres prefers consistency and has low Hero times on almost every course. Scott is training himself for goods psych-outs and, noticing this, suggested that Andres drives as fast as a cyclist. We'll see how Andres responds to these allegations.
#95 Kevin Sirman pushed #100 John Hornick back to a 3-digit rank following a 3.3pt AF cut and a passing of 6 players en route to reaching the top-100. Kevin's PRs included his first Titan C score, and he became a Hero B overall.
#137 Andrew Manning passed rival #140 Alessandra Martinelli, and currently has 21 rivalry records to his name. Alessandra still has a faster total time for laps, indicating that Andrew's strength is in course times rather than lap times. Both players are close on rivalry AF and ARR. Alessandra hasn't reported new PRs for 7 days now, and may have some in queue. #153 Andrew Johnson is still well in it, passing 4 players on the ladder.
#262 Ryan Stevens was the big mover of the week, narrowly passing the century with a 104pt AF cut. With 22 PRs in hand, the recently added player made this week count. He started at 399th two weeks ago. He skipped Adv A to go straight to Expert D, and he's already scored his first Hero time. Another player who reached Expert D was #275 Jeremy Garcia, who passed 10 players (including karting powerhouse #276 Sami Cetin).
#355 Mark Engelsman cut one AF pt for each of the 23 players he passed this week. He also made it to Adv B. The other most active player in the region, Canada's #414 Julien Cloutier-Brassard, had a similar 29pt AF cut, passing 27 players.
Honourable mentions: #200 Jeremy Huang (200th), #244 Patrick Hewson (Exp C), #548 Alvaro Fababu (full timesheet and ladder debut; Int C)

Movement
No changes in the top-10. The one who made the movement was #10 Konsta Jukka, whose 12-PR week got him ahead of #11 Olivier Peruch. He also reached Myth+! Konsta is just 1 AF point away of passing the next 3 players: Raphael, Marius and Jean-Christophe. Marius reported his first PRs (both LC) since December and JSX was active last week. Raphael has been resting since October.
#15 Bo Garman made 4 PRs, two of which were God times (LC and PB laps). He already had a God time in BP lap. The profilers among you will notice that Bo's serial PR killings follow a pattern, and that he'll strike DDD next. On the ladder, Bo passed #16 David Schiering. He would be the top player from an officially-English-speaking country if he passes #14 Jonathan Steel.
#22 Marc Schwartz made a tiny cut from only two PRs in BC. But he became a Myth D with them. He also pulled ahead of #23 Xavier Valentin. Top-20 by May?
#30 Andrew Math passed only one player, but it was fellow countryman #31 Gregor Fran. This puts Andrew into 4th place in the US, trailing #27 Alejandro Hernandez for third. Andrew raced 9 PRs this week, including his second God time.
#41 Thomas van Leeuwen got his first April PRs earlier this week, but he couldn't hold off the attacks of #40 Alex Hantson. Alex's neutrality has always been questioned. The Swiss player's 6pt AF cut pushed him to the front door of the top-40, while passing the likes of #43 Benoit Boudreau and #45 David Grard. Alex's 13 PRs ranged from Myth to Hero, so there's a bit of a consistency issue.
French players #54 Kevin Borne, #55 Thomas Lander and #60 Arnaud Teil are on the move. Kevin passed 3 players, with a highlight time of 1'05"0 in Baby Park. Thomas added a third Myth time to his resume, and passed #56 Alejandro Laflamme. Arnaud, a French veteran, finally passed #61 me. He also passed a mix of French/Dutch players: #62-#66 Julien, Joey, Yoann, Yohann and Ivo. Arnaud has 4 more compatriots in the next six places ahead, so there's little reason to stop now.
#89 Andres Oliveira Dos Santas appears to be back from his month-holiday. He regrettably had to leave the bevy of copacabana bikini models fawning over his kart=chicks tattoo to return to the states and play more kart. He passed two players with his first 6 PRs, but #90 Scott Abbey is stepping on his heels.
Even closer are #100 Cole Gilbert and #101 Kevin Sirman. They were tied last week. Both passed two players. Cole's weekly AF cut was 0.06 better than Kevin's, and Cole is now at 100th place by a mere 0.06. Assuming both players will improve some more, #98 Remi Taroni and #99 John Hornick could soon find themselves back into 3-digits ranks.
#139 Alessandra Martinelli, top girl and top Italian, safely made it into the top-150 with an 11pt AF cut. Although playing catch-up, he rivals #148 Andrew Manning and #157 Andrew Johnson were also active and passed 11 and 5 players, resp.
Dutchie #208 Omar Al-Azhar, presumably a friend of Marijn, raced 5 PRs and made a 23 pt AF cut. He passed Arno Bats and Menno Kos, but has #203 Erik Houke standing in his way to the top-200. Another Dutchie, #236 Enzio Fruijtier, is also making steady progress towards the top-200. He became Expert C and passed 17 players.
#284 Jeremy Garcia, recent recruit, sliced off a chunky 60 AF pts. He beat 26 PRs to achieve that, ultimately passing 57 players. #319 Jeff Lloyd joined slightly after Jeremy, and trails him in the rankings. He reported a 37pt AF cut already, but that was 6 days ago. He's probably got another big submission in the works. Both players reached Adv A.
Still in the top-400, #359 Peter Nonkes is keeping close to #361 Ryan Stevens, with both players cutting nearly 40 AF pts and both reaching Adv B. Peter had 21 PRs. Ryan had 32. Ryan still has some Beginner scores in his timesheet, so he could make some big-cuts-from-few-prs soon.
Honourable mentions: #384 Justin Griffin (top-400, Adv C), #440 Julien Cloutier-Brassard and #448 Joe Anderson (both reached Adv D), #522 John Kenny (became Int B).

A few comebacks/resurrections

Movement
#1 Aron Langerak is enjoying a 0.2 AF pt lead over #2 Hendrik, who remained silent this week. Meanwhile, #3 Richard Karlsson returned after a 3 week absence to report 5 new god times. Richard almost caught Hendrik with that, but not quite. While the ranks didn't change, some titles did. Namely, Aron became the second player (after Hendrik) to reach God status because he reached an ARR score of -0.003.
#6 Marijn Jongbloed may become Aron's main Dutch rival sooner than expected, following a 6PR week and cutting of 0.9 AF pts. He has left the neighbourhood of #8 Jean-Christophe Lacastaignerate and is within 0.7 pts of reaching #5 Vincent van der Fluit. Vincent leads 17-15 in head to head.
#23 Marc Schwartz managed to pass countryman #26 Luke Mulders, although he should have done so last week. Marc also passed a pair of Frenchman in #25 Yannick Plebani and #24 Cedric Willo. He fell just shy of a rank promotion. Someone not shy of a promotion is #31 Andrew Math, who is now Titan+.
#45 Alex Hantson is back... from somewhere. Or so he says. His 8 PRs over the past couple of days conveniently resulted in an 8 position rank change, including a passing of three Dutchies. Among Alex's PRs were his first trio of Myth times, one of which was all the way down to Myth+ level. Knowing that, I think it's safe to assume that the 'somewhere' Alex is back from is from hiking in some mythical Dutch mountains where the air is purest. As soon as he inhaled, he got infected with TB -- a rare condition that only 46 karters have had.
#57 Kevin Borne and #59 Matt Tanzer were the big movers in the Titan region. Kevin's 4 pt AF cut passed 8 players in a densely populated region. The Frenchman is now among the same company of Frenchies as #55 Thomas Lander recently was. Matt's 6.8 cut worked twice as hard, taking him 13 places up from 72nd. Matt is the 6th US player and has now left #70 Rob Chastain and #71 Jon Prentice in the distance, but the next American up, #31 Andrew Math, is quite some distance ahead. With only a Canadian between them, Matt will have to sashay through Europe for a little while. Both Kevin and Matt became Titan C.
With #62 Joey Michorius slightly edging #65 Ivo van der Stap, Netherlands' most-recent Titan, #75 Jerrol Hoppenbrouwers, should come down and give Joey some homeland competition until the top-50. Jerrol passed two players with a 5 pt cut, which he made from 6 new PRs that ranged from Myth B to Hero C. Jerrol, are you investing disproportionate amounts of time in certain courses, or are you just hiding your Mythical abilities from us?
Passing three more players, #102 Kevin Sirman is just around the corner from the top-100. Next week.
#162 Andrew Johnson had the bigger 18 pt AF cut this week, but #152 Alessandra Martinelli's 13 pt cut still keeps her ahead by 10 places. The rivalry is a little one-sided for now, with Alessandra leading all the stats. She scored a pair of Hero times to end March, and started April with three more. Both Andy and Ali reached Expert A this week, so it's a race to Hero.
#254 Patrick Hewson continues perfecting imperfection, but he passed 3 UK players this week. He's also coming up to the top-250 and should pass coolest.name.ever. Dutchie #253 Enzio Fruijtier and MK64-pre-millennium-veteran #249 Dave Hines.
#340 Brian Smith reported 19 PRs since his last correspondence in December. A 33pt AF cut moves him up about 38 places, though half of that was positions he lost in his absence. Something he couldn't lose was a rank promotion, and Brian reached Adv B. #342 Jeremy Garcia was also a comeback-artist, having been away for a month since joining. He had 28 PRs to report, and a 137 pt AF cut. We're seeing a lot of triple digit cuts from new players this year.
In the same neighbourhood, #372 Kiyan Nourain followed up last week's 34pt cut with a 32. Still got movement in those legs. Can't say the same for #394 Peter Nonkes, who despite reaching top-400 and passed #395 Colin Stephens, only cut 15pts compared to last week's 128. He claims to have been too busy to play, so maybe he'll get some more time over the Easter break.
Honourable mentions: #198 Lucas Willand (top-200).
New Records
There were 3 WRs this week, and none from Aron or Hendrik?!
Marijn Jongbloed kicked off the week with his first ever record, a 1'37"866 in Waluigi Stadium. His Myth+ time was 0.1 quicker than Hendrik's record from last month. Aron was active on this level during the week, but settled for fourth place.
Andreas Rudmarker (a future champion, right?) scored his 3rd WR, besting Aron and Vincent van der Fluit's mid-1'34"4x times with a 1'34"414 in Mushroom City. All three players have a G+10 time.
Lastly, Richard Karlsson improved his own Wario Colosseum lap of 57"77 with a 57"633 G+5. His Swedish rival, Andreas, also played some WC and took 2nd place with a 0.25 slower lap. Vince is the other player from the three that have a sub-58 lap.
Aron's WR tally dropped back a bit to 11. Richard and Hendrik have lost some ground, currently on 8 and 6 resp. Andreas ties Vince on 3 WRs, while Marijn made his debut on 1.

A new 'number one conqueror'

Movement
#1 Aron Langerak has taken over the top spot. The crazy Dutchie still continues to score WRs. He got a pair of them this week. #2 Hendrik Bunde answered back with a WR of his own, but his 1 PR wasn't enough to grab back any ground lost in AF. You probably wouldn't have called Aron being the top player by the end of the 1st quarter a month ago. But he did it, so.. yeah. There's an upcoming POQ vote, and Aron's timing is impeccable. The current AF standings are Aron 2.50, Hendrik 2.63, Richard 2.78. In the other stats: Hendrik is still the only God player, if only because Aron has 0.03 to go; Richard and Hendrik are slightly ahead in PRSR; Richard has a 1s lead in combined total times over Hendrik, who in turn is 1s ahead of Aron. Aron's lead certainly isn't big and, historically, the Dutch don't have a good record of keeping the MKDD #1 for long periods of time. Will Aron fall victim to tradition? Maybe. But Aron is in fine form and setting PRs regularly, so we'll wait and see.
#4 Andreas Rudmarker reported a mixed bag of 8 PRs, ranging from G+8 to Myth D. A little inconsistent, perhaps. Some good news for Andreas is that he lowered his AF score below 5. From the 18 people who have had an AF sub-5 in the history of MKDD, 2 were cheaters and only 3 of the rest had not been a champion. So, obviously, the probability that Andreas will be a champ eventually is 81% =)
#6 Marijn Jongbloed built a small lead on #7 Jean-Christophe Lacastaignerate. The Dutchie still has much room to cover to reach #5 Vincent van der Fluit and take the Dutch silver medal. Incidentally, Marijn's most recent records were twin G+7s on Vince's most-favouritestest course, Mush City. Marijn didn't beat Vince in either of those times, but I suppose you should start with some of the hardest ones and then work downhill =) The recent Dutch contributions from Marijn and Aron have put Netherlands at the top of the Country AF charts in 1, 2 and 3 player divisions. And Vince shouldn't feel bad, because he's contributing to the big lead over the French Army in the triple play.
#31 Andrew Math passed four players (#32 Rodolphe, #33 Trystan, #34 Michael D and #35 Stefan v. D) with a respectable 3 pt AF cut. He's now 3 pts behind #30 and USA rival Gregor Fran.
#53 Alex Hantson is on his way to the top-50, no doubt, following a very strong 6 pt AF cut week. The Swiss-American passed 12 reasonably famous MKDD names, including #54 Alejandro Laflamme, #56 Francois 'Paco' Chu, #58 me, and nationality-chameleon #57 Yohan Foog. #55 Thomas Lander passed those same three last names, and looks certain to pass Alejandro very soon. Thomas and Alex are now both Titan c!
#62 Ivo van der Stap is still trying to run from #64 Joey Michorius, but the young Dutch player bounced back and scored 3x the size of Ivo's AF cut. Joey is 0.2 pts behind his countryman now. And speaking is small country rivalries, France's #66 Florian Chollet passed #67 Paul Regeffe this week, as well as four others. Florian's work is hardly over, seeing as he has 9 more French players to catch on the way to the top-50. #72 Matt Tanzer won't be feeling left out from national rivalries. He has USA players #69 Rob Chastain and #70 Jon Prentice in his radar.
#77 Jerrol Hoppenbrouwers passed a few players. Namely, Ben Zeller and Dan Sloggett. But he gets his newsworthy mention for becoming the newest Titan player (Titan D), and for getting 32/32 Hero or better.
#105 Kevin Sirman looks to be a powerhouse player, scoring a 20 pt cut. He passed 20 players, which was 1/6th of his ranking. Kevin narrowly missed out on the top-100 this week, but it would be foolish to bet against him making it by next week. He became Hero C as well, but who knows how long that's going to last...
#161 Alessandra Martinelli is back with 26 PRs and a big 24 pt AF cut. She once again took over the #1 girl position from #176 Rosalinda Cancino. Strangely enough, Alessandra's times are split evenly between Exp A and Exp B (16 of each), while Rosalinda is already starting a collection of Hero times. Despite being a few places behind #158 Andrew Manning, Alessandra's won the lead in her rivalry. Should should be Exp A very soon.
Speaking of Italians, #359 Nicola Gatti, Italy's 6th ranked player, may soon pass #350 Iacopo Sorce. Among his victims this week were Rachel Fanta, Kevin Booth and Nathan Stinson. #357 Jeff Lloyd is visiting Nicola's neighbourhood, scoring a 37 pt cut from 22 PRs (we expected him to get 35 pts...), including an Exp C in BC lap. Both Nicola and Jeff reached Adv B overall.
#396 Kiyan Nourain made that top-400 spot that we expected him to, but he 'only' did it with a 34 pt AF cut. We expected over a hundred! The US player raced 17 PRs on his way to becoming Adv C, and has almost caught up to countryman #392 Colin Stephens. Colin made a small cut to keep a three-player lead on Kiyan. Both of these players should listen for the doppler blur of #402 Peter Nonkes, whose 128 pt AF cut was... well, that number says enough. He's a Dutchie, so it's no surprise to PR Smash all 32 of your times in a week. Peter also became Adv C. The interesting thing is that there were two triple-digiters this week, for #442 Otto Knigge produced a 116 pt AF cut. With a name like 'Otto', he might pass off as a Dutchie. But he's actually playing for the USA! (Maybe his great grandfather was a Dutchie and he inherited some good genes?) Otto joined last week and has already moved up over 100 places... but this week was a long week, so it may be ambitious to expect anything as huge next week. In any case, Otto became the newest Advanced player (Adv D). On a related note, #491 Joe Anderson (Int A) also jumped over the top-500 fence.
New Records
Olivier Peruch's excellent record (60Hz!) on Daisy Cruiser has fallen. Olivier's 31"380, from Sept last year, and was tied by Hendrik in December. Aron's brand new record of 31"376 is 0.004 quicker. Not much in it. All three players have a G+3 time.
Aron also beat Hendrik's 32"32 on Yoshi Circuit with a 32"289, also claiming the G+3 barrier in the process. Hendrik's record was from two months ago. Aron felt his lap was very fluid, and his 0.03 lead over YC dynamo Hendrik suggests that Aron's lap, after all, a pretty good race.
Not to be outdone so easily, Hendrik scored an excellent WR of his own -- on the very first course, even. A 24"296 for the German is the first G+5 score, and beats his old record by 0.04. Richard is 0.04 behind Hendrik's new score, and Aron double that.
