MKDD Players' Page
 What's new?

We're back!

Alex @ Wednesday, April 28th   [link]

Whoa, so much has happened recently!

New Server:
The old one fell off the face of the planet, but now we've got a much cooler and comfortable home.
Relocating to a new server meant moving squillions of files across, reconfiguring paths, waiting
for DNS updates.. obviously a hassle. But it seems that everything is back as it was.. perhaps bigger
and better :P. People to thank for getting everything back together and up to date include Mark Jones,
Michael Liem and Paul Tanney.

New Site:
New design, new structure. We're now Greymatter, PHP and PostgresSQL powered.. for those
of you who don't know what those terms refer to.. it basically means that most of what
we do is now automated. Even updating of scores has been given a booster shot in the
efficiency department ;)
For you, the players, it means that we can update more frequently. It also means that
we may be more limited in what we can do for you, and what service we offer, but we'll do our best.
We've retained most of the old features:

-> Player's List: Shows all of the players registered (311 and counting; currently alphabetical)
-> Matchups: Compare two players
-> Average Finish: Average of overall positions (must have 32 times)
-> Average Rank: (still to be implemented) Average of standards achieved
-> PRSR Ratios: Average of PR:SR ratio (must have 32 times)
-> Top 100's: Charts for the 32 tracks (no WS SC yet)
-> Total Times: Top 100 lap and course totals

As well as that, I've done my best to simulate William Lacey's ever-useful ‘Times Viewer’. It's
called a ‘Player Profile’ (a.l.a. MK64), and shows an individual's scores (with date updated and
comment fields), total times, PRSR ratio and WR delta. I've heard many requests to show the position of each
score as well. This is a bit tricky to do when you're not using static data, but I'll try.
Meanwhile, clicking the 'red flag' icon for a time will take you to the chart in question, and highlight the score
as well (so you can see its position and those around it). To reach a player's profile, either search for them,
find their name in the player's list, or click the blue (i) image on any of the charts! :hehe:

Other features:
-> PRs are given a date of when they were updated. This can help us work out which players are more active,
when WRs were set, etc. (see your profile).
-> PRs are given comments. This feature is still experimental, and we're not sure how useful it will prove to be;
but, we can now add extra information about each and every score on the site. This should make the profiles
more informative in the future. The comment is valid for the time that the PR was updated, and isn't expected to
change unless the score is overwritten.
-> We've been collecting players' Hertz as we update each submission (extra thanks to Fernando for fishing
many of them out). So far we've collected 216 of them (about 2/3rds).
-> FAQ page, the first stop for new members.
-> Joining Info page, discusses about submitting times (please re-read it).
-> Filtering.. some charts allow you to filter by country and/or hertz, so you can compare yourself against your
fellow countrymen, or your hertz mode.
-> Search page, perhaps less useful for you guys, but quite useful for us updaters.. and it's always cool to have
    a searching feature.
-> Video's, gives you some links to currently active video pages. We will add more as they come.
-> Strategies, so far a bit empty, but it will be filled eventually.
-> Info Page, learn a bit more about the guys running this site.

New Players:
Sorry, but there are too many to list.. we've updated 500 submissions since the downtime, including almost 20
new players! On behalf of everyone, I welcome you to the community. Some of our newest members have proven
to be future title-contenders.. in particular, Fernando Moritz, Matt Flees, John Prentice and David Grard have
achieved some incredible scores in the very short time they have been with us. Keep it up!

New Scores:
Waaaay too many to list.. 2254 (out of 7572) scores currently in the database have been updated since the
downtime. Here's a list of the current-standing WRs set recently..
Alex Penev (DC 32"476, MCT 1'37"580 31"981, RR 2'59"807)
Fernando Moritz dos Santos (BP 8"692, MB 26"389, RR 58"920)
David Grard (DDD 1'33"425, SL 24"469, DKM 1'48"129 35"082),
Cesar Martin (BP 1'05"789)
Stefan Baczynsky (WS 1'41"439, DDJ 1'45"877 34"196),
John Anderson (YC 33"424, MB 1'20"771) and
Paul Regeffe(BC 2'21"133 46"178).

Alex also (just barely) broke the 27 minute total times barrier! Congratulations to all!

And could everyone check their scores and make sure none are missing. If some are, just resubmit to Yahoogroups..

Testing new configurations

Alex @ Thursday, April 22nd   [link]

Hello all,

Just in case you manage to get here before we're finished... we're in the process of
testing and reconfiguring much of the site on this new server :P It's quite possible that
there are some bugs or dead links.. if you run into one (particularly if it's nasty  ), please
report it and we'll try and fix it!

As for the scores, the database is slowly being updated and hopefully will be up-to-date in a few days.

P.S. I wonder what my Avatar looked like..
