What's new?
The end of the Quarter is coming up... one more week to make it count.

Movement
60Hz champ Marijn Jongbloed decreased his AF to 1.96, which is almost half that of #2 Hendrik Bunde. Marijn continues to score 60Hz WRs, and now has more than half of them. In the combined Hz chart, #5 Marijn made a small 0.2 cut, but still trails #4 Andreas Rudmarker by 0.9 pts.
#35 Scott Dufault passed continental rival #36 Gregor Fran. Scott is already the top Canadian, but just in case he ever moves to the USA... next up is #31 Alejandro Hernandez. This week Scott became a Titan+.
#59 Arnaud Guepey left behind #62 Arnaud Teil to start heading towards the top-50. He passed Thomas Lander as well this week, and has three more French players between him and #50 Andre Overesch.
#173 Alvin van Asselt, now Expert A, has been challenged by #163 Josh Dufault. But this week Josh only moved up 1 place while Alvin moved up 26 places, and they're 10 places apart. Josh has the advantage of getting training from his high-ranking brother. Alvin is a crazy Dutchie. Is it a fair fight?
#204 Andrew Howes is a step closer to top-200, but #209 Leandro Cavali now has the lead in rivalry records and course totals. Will Andrew still reach 200 first? Two of the other rivals were also active: #222 Alvaro Fababu scored his first Hero time MB, and #228 Karina Villa made a 33 pt AF cut to catch up to the other rivals. The fifth rival, #232 Mark Engelsman, was inactive. He may soon be passed by #238 Paulo Roberto Presotto, who moved up 24 places.
Newcomer #270 Mark Schmidt started well, with a 44 pt cut. First goal would be top-250. After that he will have some active players to chase.
#394 Ian Gee couldn't quite reproduce his cut from last week, but he still managed 80 pts. It's his second full week on the site and we still expected him to play strongly, but it seems he has some other games taking up his time. Nevertheless, he moved up 64 places.
#449 Ben Davis joined last week and is showing a bit more dedication than Ian, making a 118pt cut rather than 'just' 100 Is this the same Ben Davis we know as the 'board donkey'? Perhaps not--it's a common name after all--but maybe he will be just as persistent.
Joining at the same time as Ben was Nick Benson. It was also his first full week here, and he made a 134pt AF cut. Adjusting for the slightly lower ranking, it's about as good as Ben's cut. He conveniently broke the top-500 barrier by reaching #499. This means we have three active players who have made 100pt cuts in the last two weeks... maybe they should be rivals?
Honourable mentions: #108 Terrence Fenner (now a Hero B), #649 Gary Ryan (now Intermediate D).
New Records
Marijn Jongbloed increased his 60Hz WR tally to 17 records, with Aron being the next closest on just 3 records. Marijn's two new records this week were a 27"978 G+2 lap in Dry Dry Desert (the first sub-28 in 60Hz) and 1'27"734 Mario Circuit. The MC course time was only a small win over Marius's old record from 2006.
New Players
No new players this week.

Movement
60Hz #1 Marijn Jongbloed is continuing his rampage unchallenged, reducing his AF to 2.1. A little bit more and he will have a 1.xx finish, which doesn't happen too often in MK games. He is also approaching overall God rank in the combined charts -- he has 0.17 ARR pts to go.
#63 Florian Chollet raced a handful of 50 and 60Hz PRs over the week. He passed #64 Alejandro Laflamme in the rankings, and now has the chance to pass 3 fellow Frenchmen: #62 Arnaud Teil, #61 Arnaud Guepey ('the other Arnaud') and #59 Thomas Lander. The player in between, #60 Alain Studer, plays for the Swiss but that almost counts as France anyway. Passing them would put Florian in the top-20 among the French army.
#73 Prashant Bhoja broke his hattrick and couldn't wait another week to make it a full 3 years of inactivity. He is probably practicing for MKW. But in any case, Prashant scored 4 PRs and passed old rival #75 Paul Regeffe. Prashant and Paul were both here when the site opened (in 2003), and they've lost a lot of places over the years after retiring. Maybe Prashant will try to pass me as well... I'm only 4 places ahead
#84 Chevallier Florian ('the other Florian') moved up 6 places, passing the likes of #85 John Anderson, #88 Andy Johnson and #90 Jeff Gutierrez. He scored his 2nd best time this week, which was a Titan+ on PB.
#164 Joshua Dufault almost reached #161 Nicholas St-Louis. Just a few places away. He did, however, cut 26 AF pts and move up 23 places. And he became an Expert A. Top-150 is a small step away.
#205 Andrew Howes is in a new rivalry and is currently leading in all of the stats. This week he came 6 places closer to the top-200 barrier, and will almost certainly be the first among his rivals to reach it. His closest rivals are #217 Leandro Cavali, who moved up 6 places, and #222 Alvaro Fababu, who moved up 5 places. The fourth rival, #231 Mark Engelsman, became active a little later but is quickly making up on any lost ground. He cut 22 pts this week, and could reach Leandro or even Andrew by next week if he can keep up his momentum.
#347 Chris Kelley raced 8 PRs, including big cuts on his 'worst' track, DDJ. Chris passed 23 players, including #352 Mark Jones and #364 Nathan Stinson, on his way to becoming an Advanced A player.
#457 Ian Gee was expected to play like a pro because of his player id. It's his first week on the site, and he scored 29 PRs, a 100 pt AF cut and moved up 101 places. We dare him to repeat that same effort next week Another recently added player, #671 Gary Ryan, was also busy -- he raced 31 PRs and moved up 34 places. Gary should reach Intermediate D level with his next few PRs.
New Records
Two new records this week, once again by Marijn in 60Hz. He improved the Dry Dry Desert course record to 1'30"158. The old record was 1'30"18 by Aron Langerak, set in January. Marijn also improved the Dino Dino Jungle course record to 1'42"579, which is the first Myth+ time and 0"2 faster than Olivier Peruch.
Marijn now has 15 WRs in 60Hz, almost four times as many as the next player.

Movement
60Hz #1 Marijn Jongbloed cut another 0.5 AF pts. Didn't get any places, obviously, but has extended his lead over #2 Hendrik Bunde to more than 1.1 AF pt. Marijn now has 13 WRs, compared to the next best of 4 (by Aron and Marius).
#36 Scott Dufault's already reached the top spot in his country of Canada, but he could still aim for continental positions. He's currently 8th in the Americas, and gaining ground on 7th place and #35 Gregor Fran. Scott passed 3 players this week: Rodolphe, Trystan and Stefan.
Scott's brother #187 Joshua Dufault was closest to the top-200 barrier from the active players. He continued his comeback this week, gaining 20 places and easily making the barrier. Before Josh takes over the continent he could try to catch up to his brother in their own country. He's currently 9th in Canada, with the next player up being #161 Nicholas St-Louis.
#211 Andrew Howes will likely be next over the 200 barrier. This week he scored double-Hero on Peach Beach. It must be his best course because it's the only one he has Hero times on. His lap, in particular, is ranked 122nd. #227 Alvaro Fababu is still active (as usual) and moving along, but hasn't had a big burst of PRs in a while. He will likely not beat Andrew to 200, but should eventually get there.
#253 Mark Engelsman disappeared for a couple of weeks, but he sent in 18 new PRs to start off this month. The Dutch top-100-in-training cut 21 AF pts, narrowly missing out on top-250. He did, however, become Expert C this week.
#318 Nicola Gatti's comeback continues this week, jumping another 57 places thanks to 18 new PRs. He reached Advanced A level and should be an Expert with a few more PRs. Countryman #305 Dario Magni is not far ahead.
New Records
Two more records for Marijn Jongbloed in 60Hz. Both were in Mushroom Bridge. Marijn's 1'18"667 course time was G+4, 0"2 quicker than Olivier Peruch's and Marius Mollenhauer's G+2 times from 18 months ago. A 25"780 lap was a smaller 0"02 lead over those same two players, but achieved the same G+2 standard as them.

Movement
60Hz champion Marijn Jongbloed is still charging ahead, making 5 PRs and cutting another 0.47 AF pts to lower his AF to 2.97. #2 Hendrik Bunde was also active and cut 0.16 in AF. This gives him a 0.4 lead over #3 Marius Mollenhauer but he still trails Marijn by half a point.
#39 Scott Dufault moved past 3 more players to enter the top-40 countdown. In 60Hz he also passed 3 players to reach 20th place. Now that he's become a Titan A, Scott can either aim for Titan+ or top-30. He still has a handful of Hero times left over, so there is potential to improve more.
#94 Marcel Felix has renewed his interest in the game after 1.5 years break (maybe MKWii has something to do with this?). Marcel raced 6 PRs in the past week, giving him back a top-100 spot that he had lost by slipping down due to inactivity. He also became a Hero A player, which he can't lose from inactivity. In the same region, #87 Andrew Johnson and #89 Chevallier Florian were active and both moved up a little bit.
#149 Jivago Pacheco da Silva got ahead of 7 players to reach the top-150. The Brazilian has been focusing on Dry Dry Desert lately, where he got both of his times in the top-100. His most recent PR is his best time so far: a Titan C on DDD 3lap ranked 62nd. Maybe Jivago is showing us some untapped potential here, since this is much better than his other scores and DDD is a difficult level. Overall Jivago became a Hero D player.
The top-200 barrier is getting closer and closer for several players. #215 Andrew Howes moved up 14 places, reducing his distance in half. #223 Leandro Cavali moved up 7 places, and both became Expert B players. #228 Alvaro Fababu says he is very busy these days with other things, but still managed to make some PRs. When he has more time we expect him to also make way for 200. The closest active player to 200, however, is #207 Joshua Dufault. He's making a new comeback after some months way. He needs 6 AF pts to reach #200 Peter Toch.
#374 Chris Kelley made a quick comeback, jumping back almost 30 places. We hadn't heard from Chris since October last year. Unfortunately he says he's got exams coming up and his comeback may be short-lived. Another player on a comeback was #375 Nicola Gatti. After a year away, the Italian MKDS guru moved up 24 places.
#434 Joe Sebeny became an Advanced C player, also moving up 21 places. There are no active players very close to him, although #470 Timothy Jay could change that. Tim scored 27 PRs during the past few days to move up more than 40 places. #504 Pete Crawford reduced his AF by 56pts for one of the bigger cuts of the week. Just a few more PRs should take him to top-500 and Advanced level.
New Records
There were 2 records this week. You guessed it -- by Marijn in 60Hz.
Marijn's first record was 27"850 G+2 in Mario Circuit, or 0"06 faster then Olivier Peruch's time from the end of last year. His other record was 45"065 G+2 in Bowser's Castle, which was 0"02 ahead of Marius Mollenhauer's record from 2006.
Marijn now has 11 WRs in 60Hz compared to Olivier's total of 5.
