Marijn Jongbloed became the new 60Hz champion, passing #2 Hendrik Bunde and #3 Marius Mollenhauer this week. He scored a few more WRs this week to give him a 0.6 AF cut. Currently he leads the two German players by 0.25 and 0.35 pts in AF, which isn't a huge lead but is enough to make them have to play if they want to pass him. Although he's ahead in AF, he's still 3rd in 60Hz ARR. But he did reach the Myth+ level (he already had Myth+ in 50Hz) as a small bonus.
Andrew Math was active. Didn't pass anyone, but finally became a Myth A player. He increased his lead over USA #2 Bo Garman to 0.7 pts.
#42 Scott Dufault still hasn't reached Canadian rival #45 Benoit Boudreau in ARR, but is right behind him and needs one more PR. He passed Thomas van Leeuwen and Andre Wachsmuth in AF, both of whom now lie between himself and Benoit.
#88 Andrew Johnson passed 7 players, including his two closest rivals, Alessandra and Rosalinda. Andrew has now taken the lead in the rivalry, and became a Hero A in the process. He has 8 Titan times so far, so that could be the next goal.
#229 Andrew Howes made up ground on #227 Alvaro Fababu and #230 Leandro Cavali, and now all three players are within 4 positions of each other. They should all get a new title by next week, but I think the race-to-200 will still be on during March.
#558 Pete Crawford scored 22 PRs for a 30 pt AF cut, moving up thirty places. He also reached Intermediate B. #591 Mark Polo, a player from the early days of MKDD competition, sent in 18 PRs in preparation for MK-Wii. The Canadian made a 34pt AF cut.
Honourable mentions: #275 Paulo Roberto Presotto (Exp C).
New Records
Four new records. Again, they are all in 60Hz and belong to the top Dutch players.
Aron improved the Baby Park 60Hz record to 1'04"222 G+3, which is 0"2 faster than Marijn and Hendrik. This time is 5th place in the combined charts, and Aron is the only player with a 1'03. On the same course, Marijn set a new lap record of 8"476. He's the only player to have under 8"500 in 60Hz, and this lap is slightly faster than what he has in 50Hz.
Daisy Cruiser. Marijn already had the record, but beat it with a 1'37"165. It's a G+1 time, and 0"4 ahead of second place, which is Olivier Peruch's Myth+1 time from back in 2006.
One more new record for Marijn: Sherbet Land 23"975. He's the first player to get 23s in 60Hz. The old record was Olivier's 24"009 from 2006.
Marijn's new records bring him to a total of 9 WRs in 60Hz, reducing Olivier to 6 (Marius has 5 and Aron has 4).

The top spots in the combined ladder were steady this week. Not much action taking place there.
However, the 60Hz ladder got another shake-up with #3 Marijn Jongbloed cutting 1.3 AF pts, reducing his AF to 4.0. This means he passed #4 Olivier Peruch and is only 0.4 away from becoming 60Hz champ. Marijn raced 10 PRs this week, so it doesn't seem like he's run out of tracks to improve.
Last week #15 Alex Hantson passed #14 Tristan Eyma, but this week we received some undated PRs from the French player. He gets his old place back (and becomes a Myth A before Andrew Math), forcing Alex to have to do a little bit more work. Alex is within 2 AF pts of the next three players ahead: Tristan, Bo and Andrew. In the same region on the 60Hz ladder, #18 Marc Swartz is pulling away from #19 Trystan Pugh and almost caught up to Tristan.
#44 Scott Dufault passed #45 Benoit Boudreau to become to top-ranked Canadian. Not the best of birthday gifts for Benoit, but all the more reason for him to make a return--Scott has been slowing down a little lately and we're not sure how much juice he has left. Round 2, fight? No? Oh, come on Benny...
#95 Andrew Johnson has been lingering around the top-100 barrier for a long time. He gave it a more convincing shot this week, passing 5 players. He's got the most wins in his rivalry now, but still trails the two dolls, Rosalinda and Alessandra. However, they're only 3 positions ahead of him on the ladder...
#117 Terrence Fenner passed 8 players with a 9pt AF cut. He needs another... well, it should be no problem for Terrence to calculate what he needs because #100 Marcel Felix has an AF of 100.0000 and Terrence has 119.8.
The top-200 barrier will have some visitors soon, with several candidates hoping to be first arrivals. #242 Sam Keene is playing catch-up for now. He made it into the top-250 this week, passing 11 players. #234 Andrew Howes made a similar cut to get away from Sam, passing 12 players. #228 Alvaro Fababu also made a similar cut, getting away from Andrew. The surprise party guest was #232 Leandro Cavali, sending in several weeks' worth of PRs (29 of them) for a big 56pt AF cut.
#276 Mark Engelsman and #292 Karina Villa are both continuing their quests to get ranks in MKDD as high as in other kart games. Mark represents Holland, so he could get some tips from the top players. Karina represents El Salvador, and is probably the only person there who plays MKDD. Anyway, about halfway between them (skill-wise and geography-wise) is Brazil, and its representative in the region is #278 Paulo Roberto Presotto. Paulo's 71pt AF reflects the 20 PRs he made in the past few weeks. There's another 3 Brazilians between Paulo and the top-200.
#453 Joe Sebeny is getting into some action again for the first time this year. He cut 36pts and moved up 38 places. #588 Pete Crawford had a similar 41pt cut, moving past 39 players.
New Records
One new record this week.
Marijn Jongbloed's 1'34"816 in Mushroom City was a near 60Hz record by 0"04. It beat Olivier Peruch's record from 2 years ago. This now means that both players have 7 60Hz records each.

Movement
Even though 60Hz #1 Marius Mollenhauer hasn't played in a year, he got his 1st spot back from countryman #2 Hendrik Bunde. Hendrik wasn't active either... it was #4 Marijn Jongbloed that was doing the damage from a few places back, and Marius's AF dropped to 3.62 (Hendrik's dropped to 3.65!). Marijn improved 15 more PRs to cut 3.9 AF pts. His AF was only 9.2 before, so this is a huge cut. He moved up from 11th to 4th. Marijn narrowly passed Aron and is now the top Dutchie in 60Hz. If he wants to pass #3 Olivier Peruch, he will need another 1.0 AF pts. If he wants to be champ... well, he's 10-22 against Marius in head-to-head matchup, so he should aim for another 6 wins to make it even.
In the combined ladder, #14 Alex Hantson passed #15 Trystan Eyma. USA #1 and #2 Andrew Math and Bo Garman are next in line, but Alex's main rival, #18 Matt Tanzer, is busy playing other games for a bit.
#47 Scott Dufault raced 5 PRs, giving him the needed ARR cut to become a Titan B. Top Canadian #44 Benoit is a few positions ahead.
#87 Sebastien Legay jumped 8 more places on the ladder, passing a few countrymen, a few girls and #88 Jeffrey Gutierrez. Improving another 8 places will be much harder because there's a few big gaps between the players in the ~80 region, but we would at least expect Sebastien to reach Titan soon.
#245 Andrew Howes reached the top-250, moving up 14 spots. #231 Alvaro Fababu, who was in Andrew's place last week, moved up another 13 spots. Both players are approaching #229 Jeff Tsang, who looks like he could use some action.
#309 Karina Villa passed recent newcomer #319 Joost Coenen, scoring 6x as many PRs. Joost and Karina both scored an Exp C time last month, but this week Karina scored her first Exp B time and became an Expert D overall. Next up, Hero?
#588 Jacob Goldfinger disappeared for the past couple of months. This week he reported 32 new PRs, making a 140pt AF cut and moving up quite a lot of positions (I'm not going to count). He easily made it to Intermediate level, landing on Int C.
Honourable mention: #515 Bram Koppenaal (Int A).
New Records
Two more 60Hz WRs for Marijn this week: Daisy Cruiser 1'37"542 was a tiny bit faster than Olivier Peruch's time from 2006, but it made the Myth+ standard and they're the only two players to have achieved that. The second record was Mushroom City 31"059 G+4, about 0"02 faster than Olivier and Aron.
Marijn moves up to 6 WRs in 60Hz, which is 2nd place: Olivier has 8 and Marius has 5.

It's Player Of The Year time again. The big vote. The one Obama wishes he was even in the running for. So, the question is... who was the coolest dude during 2007? Oh, right. Sorry, but no, I'm not in this one. I mean, who was the coolest karter of 2007? The guy you were cheering for the loudest while you were eating popcorn from the sidelines? Or, if you were actively karting yourself, the guy who kept annoying you with his awesome PRs and you wished you could outplay him? Who deserves those precious 10 points in the Award pages?
The poll is open. Go vote.
Movement
60Hz #4 Aron Langerak scored 12 new 60Hz times, including a handful of records. He moved up from 6th to 4th. Andrew Math moved up from 7th to 5th, passing Bo Garman and Richard Karlsson. #11 Marijn Jongbloed, Aron's partner in crime, also scored a handful of 60Hz WRs. Last week he was only 0.03 behind #12 Olivier Lavenant, and he made a 4.5 AF cut from 15 PRs. All that work just to pass a player that he needed only 0.04 to pass? Well, another way to look at it is that Marijn dropped his AF below 10, and the next three players might be in trouble.
In the Combined ladder, #12 Andrew Math become US champ by passing #13 Bo Garman. Bo's been champ since forever, but hasn't been as active lately. Bo's reaction was congratulatory, although he is certain he can do better himself if he makes a comeback. Meanwhile, #15 Alex Hantson passed two retired players -- Jonathan Steel and Paul Maes -- and Andrew looks to be within his grasp.
#50 Scott Dufault finally reached 50th place. Perhaps not very surprisingly, since he makes PRs all the time. He moved up 5 places this week, and his country's top player, #44 Benoit Boudreau, doesn't look so far away now.
#100 Andrew Johnson squeezed ahead of rival #101 Andrew Manning, but missed out on a double-digit rank. Slightly ahead of him, #95 Sebastien Legay became a Hero A and passed two French rivals in Kevin Sirman and Florian Vaz.
#173 Kevin Smith had no problems clearing the top-200 barrier. Apart from passing thiry players, he also became Expert A. His nearby rival #188 Josh House was quiet this week.
#245 Alvaro Fababu beat #252 Sam Keene to reaching the top-250 first, scoring 13 PRs and gaining 8 places. Sam's 23pt AF cut was only a point shy from giving him a top-250 place, so it should happen next week. In the mean time, Sam became a Expert C.
#285 Mark Engelsman isn't new to kart, but he's only recently starter planning to get serious in MKDD. He says he's aiming for top-100. Being Dutchie, he might end up, oh, around #10 by next week. Anyone taking bets?
#322 Karina Villa made a nice 65pt cut. She must be really getting into MKDD because she made 28 PRs. Karina caught up to #321 Joost Coenen, who is still warming up.
Honourable mentions: #343 Alencar Faria (reached Adv A), #614 Ian Broom (Int C), #626 Pete Crawford (Int D).
New Records
Lots of records. All of them in 60Hz, with Aron and Marijn both being very active.
Aron's 1'15"177 Luigi Circuit G+2 time was 0"04 faster than Andrew Math's score from earlier this month. However, Andrew improved the lap record to 24"393 G+2. Konsta and Marijn were both active on this course recently, but not yet threatening the records.
Aron and Marijn both raced for the Peach Beach record as well, with Marijn taking it down to 1'07"877 compared to Aron's "922. The old record was Andrew's 1'07"94 from October.
Aron's 1'30"184 G+2 on Dry Dry Desert was a good lead on the old record, Marius's 1'30"41 from 1.5 years ago. Aron's final record was on Yoshi Circuit, with a 1'40"911 beating Hendrik's 1'41"17 from a year ago. Marijn also joined in, with a 1'40"94.
Marijn's other two records were Waluigi Stadium 1'37"191 (almost a second ahead of second place!), and a 32"415 lap in Yoshi Circuit to lead Aron and Hendrik by 0"06.
The 60Hz WR tally is now Olivier Peruch 10, Marius 5, Aron/Marijn on 4, Andreas/Hendrik on 2, and Andrew/Bo/Konsta/Matt/Richard on 1.
