Movement
A bit quiet at the top, with the first four players losing a bit of ground in AF due to new WRs being set. #1 Rapha set one new PRs (see lower), which bumped his ARR to within 2 standards from Myth A. #5 Vincent van der Fluit is within 0.3 of catching Marius Mollenhauer, who I'm sure he'd like reach (but he's got the advantage of the Dutch air, which is in greater supply than German beer).
#9 Fernando Moritz dos Santos had a 4-PR week, but two of those PRs were Myth +, which rank very high and helped him to 0.8 AF and 0.25 ARR cuts. His closest enemy is #8 Rene Bauer, who is slightly over 1 AF point ahead. He'll need to find a new controller, first.
#16 Cedric Willo lost a WR, but gained another. He only made 3 PRs, but the 0.7 AF cut was enough to push him ahead of #17 Andreas Rudmarker. Countryman #15 Trystan Eyma is 0.6 AF pts ahead.
#40 Jean-Christophe Lacastaignerate move ahead of 5 players, including 3 fellow Frenchies (Foog, Chu, Boisiaud). He also passed #41 Martin Rudmarker, and is only 0.4 from #39 Bart Janssen-Bouwmeester.
The Heroic Europeans and Canadian Gansta (HRS) are duking it out between each other, but their rivalry is helping plenty overall. Currently #57 Thomas van Leeuwen leads #56 Aron Langerak in the rivalry by just 0.03, even though Aron holds twice as many rivalry records. #64 Benoit Boudreau is next in the rivalry, and has the fastest lap total (as well as 6 lap records). #69 Ivo van der Stap and #73 Jonas Natanaelsson are staying in it, playing catch-up; both scoring a handful of PRs. Jonas safely reached Hero B.
In the overall ladder, Aron is ahead of Thomas by 0.5 AF pts, and had a larger cut for the week (6.2 vs 1.4). He passed about 11 guys with that one, actually, which is pretty good! He's playing 50Hz, and the other guys are teasing him =) Despite the small AF drop, Thomas beat half his PRs and is keeping active.
#60 Nathan Cromwell is beastier than we thought, continuing his rampage into a second week and moving up another 18 spots. The 16 pt AF cut says enough... he bested 3/4s of his PRs (incl. an unsually strong Titan+ in BP). He must be thinking crazy thoughts, like getting POM, or something. The 1.4 ARR cut helped, seeing him jump straight to Hero A. He also managed to pass Benoit for the Canada crown! Represent. But maybe that's because Benoit was busy focusing on his rivals. Let's see who has the longer mini-turbo. Benoit also reached Hero A, but that rank has a special name for him.
Looks like #81 Kristopher Will has returned. He wanted his times removed some months ago due to some trust issues, but now he's sent a new set of 32 PRs. They rank worse than before (his RR time is 517th), but he'll probably fly right back up the chart, since we know he knows how to play.
Some old PRs from #90 Benjamin Toudic have surfaced. He went missing about 20 months ago, but apparently the PRs are from a year ago. Ben gained a few places with them, but you have to admit, he hasn't lost much ground for being gone for almost 2 years (he was still in the top 100).
#94 Alejandro Laflamme seem to be getting back into the game, scoring 15 PRs after being MIA for 4 months. Not quite as bad as Benjamin. Alejandro cut a huge 40 pts on AF, wich saw him make it into the top 100 right away. He plays for Spain, but I think he lived in Germany. Maybe he's getting some coaching?
#137 Julien Galtier came back with 23 PRs, having gone missing after his first week here back in early Jan. He left off at 151st spot, so it's good that he's returned to make it past the barrier. Meanwhile, #156 Stacy Needham is approaching that barrier himself, with a decent 9 pt cut, and an Exp B title to boot. Another 6 pts will do it.
#172 Kenny Cott thought he found a new rival in one of the newcomers, but his 17 pt AF cut, which moved up him 31 positions (top 200), seems like it's more suitable to chase Stacy. He's 24 pts behind, so the distance between 156th and 172nd is larger than between 172nd and 200... got some work ahead of him.
Ben McElmurry, a karter with taste in RPGs, is moving along nicely. The 36 pt drop (27 PRs) was good enough for almost 40 places, and see him right behind champion(-in-spirit) #260 Finn Berger. He earned Adv B. Similar effort from #275 John Hornick, who also joined recently and also cut 36 pts, thereby entering the top 300. He also earned Adv B. There's just 6 Canadians to go before John reaches Benoit and Nathan, and one of them is sitting one spot ahead (a journey of a thousand miles starts with but a single step, right?)
#290 Marius Hukkelas (hailing from some cold country up North) was bored last week and decided to play this game. Seem like he doesn't hate it, since he improved 50 AF pts and moved up 29 places in his second week. He's another 29 from #160 Finn Berger, and 140 behind Norwegian leader #149 Snorre Hakonsen.
Honourable mentions: #335 John Furtney (newest Advanced), #106 Piet den Dulk (finally Hero).
New Records
Are these scores due to the new quicker SSMT revelation? Raphael Segas beat the Peach Beach course time with a 1'08"439! His time is Myth+, and is 0.09 faster than Hendrik (which is Myth A). He says he missed an MT, but maybe he's just showing off.
Next day, Cedric Willo beat the Mushroom Bridge lap, a track which has been recently played by several top players. Cedric's time of 25"896 is only 0.01 faster than Trystan Pugh's Myth+ time from 10 days earlier, but Cedric is also god?! So far, 5 players have Myth+.
Vincent van der Fluit burnt some rubber on Baby Park, scoring a 1'04"758. It's 0.04 faster then Cedric Willo's old WR from two weeks ago. Vince's time is the only Myth + time. He said he got a lot of 9'2s, and finished with 8'699... not very good, is he?
Vince also played some Mushroom City (which Wario purchased recently). Apparently, Vince was feeling the pressure from Fernando Moritz dos Santos, who raced a 31'3 mid-week. Vince topped that with a 31"255, but it's not like the MCT WR is a stranger to him. Vince and Fernando are the only two here with Myth +.

Movement
Biggest news of the week is that I've finally found out Stacy Needham's gender (a burning question for over 2 years). But I won't tell you guys, so too bad!
At the top of the ladder, #1 Raphael Segas is holding off #2 Hendrik Bunde's advances for another week. Both players are active, but Raphael mained a slight lead in AF drop, to finish the week 0.16 points ahead (that's still only a week's worth, btw). What tricks does Hendrik have for us? And can Raphael reach Myth A?
#11 Paul Maes reported 4 outdated PRs to cut 0.6 back, but unfortunately didn't move up. The gap between him and #10 Paul Tanney is almost one AF point.
#13 Olivier Peruch moved ahead of inactive #14 Mike Hartjens, and is not trailing two Frenchmen - #11 Maes and #12 Yannick Plebani. If he can get past them, he'll battle Tanney (inactive) to earn a top-10 spot.
#30 Alejandro Hernandez is coming up very close to #29 Kyle Clayton, making up 0.5 pts this week. He hit his first Myth time on MCR, which should encourage him to keep the pace this week.
A few places behind, #34 Emmanuel Debenest returned after 3 months away with a PR. Emmanuel is only 0.4pts behind countryman and ex-champion David Grard, so it's a wonder he stopped playing. Will he remain active? Just behind him is #35 Jake Sopcak, whose 5 PRs saw a modest 2.6pt cut and earnt him Titan B! Jake finished just shy of Emmanuel, but claims to be retiring.
#60 Thomas van Leeuwen is leading the charge in the HRS (Hero Rivalry Society), fighting off Dutchies #65 Aron Langerak and #71 Ivo van der Stap, Swede #77 Jonas Natanaelsson, and Canadian #66 Benoit Boudreau. Thomas cut 4pts and moved up 4 places, passing #62 Jeffrey Gutierrez and reaching Hero A in the process. He also scored 3 new Titan times to add to his previous one, and evened out all of his scores to HB or better. Benoit cut 3.6 AF pts himself, extending his lead over Canada's second-placed #70 Simon Laflamme. Aron power through the week woth a 7.7 cut (17 PRs), which let him overtake Benoit by one place. Ivo almost equalled Aron's cut, with 6.9 AF points from his own total (but from only 9 PRs!). Ivo is 3 places behind Dutchie #68 Robert van Zanten, and the other nearest Dutchies are Aron and Thomas. The fifth member of the rivalry, Jonas, cut 6.7pts, so he is keeping up with the pace. Jonas and Ivo are only 5 players apart.
While Benoit may be #1 in Canada, #78 Nathan Cromwell is unleashing the beast within, slicing off 1/5th of his AF. Nathan was feeling uneasy about being so close to the Top-100 cut-off, so he got serious and returned to MKDD, cutting 20pts and moving up around 20 places. He's safe from being ousted from the top 100 for a long time now, but will he go for Canada gold?
#109 Marvin Mester returned after almost 3 months away, reporting 14 PRs to cut 12pts and move up 13 places. This means the Leichtenstein title has changed once again, since Marvin pass his friend #118 Max Reese. Marvin became the 104th Hero on the ARR chart, making it to Hero D with no room to spare.
#147 Jan Haye Klijnstra made it into the top 150, passing fellow Dutchie Chiel Peters along the way. But Jan was feeling a bit sour after his good friend (and bitter enemy) #104 Piet den Dulk didn't let him get a win on LC 3lap (Jan races a faster LC lap, though).
#203 Kenny Cott got a new controller and claimed a 10pt AF cut. He finished just outside the top 200... only 3 more pts to go. Similar story with recent-addition #303 John Hornick, who somehow landed just short of the top-300, after cutting a big 51pts (29 PRs). He reached Advanced C, though, skipping past D.
Honourable mentions: #15 Cedric Willo (Titan+), #124 Christophe Cosentino (Exp A).
New Records
Vincent van der Fluit raced a couple of WRs on Wario Stadium (Wario recently purchased it from Waluigi, great discount), his best a 1'38"574. It's 0.2 faster than second-placed Marius Mollenhauer (both Myth B, along with Steel and Karlsson), but Vince insists that this record can do down lower!
The second god time appears to have been hit! The first was Steel's BP flap, and now Raphael Segas, in his title defense, pulled off a 21"976 in Peach Beach! This is 0.05 faster than Marius, who had a Myth+ 22'02 since June last year. Raphael hinted on the MB that he's using some new strat reveal to him by JSX - there are vids in the New Vids topic, and it looks like doing SSMTs without zigzagging as erratically. It seems like it only works for long stretches, so many courses might not be affected.

If you've checked the charts during the week, you may have noticed that #2 Hendrik Bunde became champion, passing #1 Raphael Segas. He cut almost 0.5 off his AF, with two PRs on DKM which rank 2nd and 3rd. Even though Hendrik reaches #1 in the AF, Raphael Segas had slightly better stats in PRSR, total times and ARR. After some words of encouragement, Raphael decided that MKDS is less fun after all, and played some of his weaker scores that were hurting his AF. He also managed two PRs, and made up 0.3 in AF to sneak ahead of Hendrik once again by the end of the week. They are currently 3.56 and 3.65 in AF! A rivalry for the top 5 shows that Raphael is ahead in all the stats, perhaps due to Special Cup domination.
#5 Vincent van der Fluit made a few PRs himself to get within 1 AF pt from #4 Marius Mollenhauer. He's already a whole point clear of Richard Karlsson, but can he catch Marius? #9 Fernando Moritz dos Santos is slowly working his way through the almost-2-pts gap left between him and #8 Rene Bauer, scoring some Myth times this week.
#17 Cedric Willo passed #18 Bo Garman with a 0.3 cut, most notably scoring a WR in the process on BP 3lap! And some bad news... Cedric ended up just one standard short of reaching Titan+!
#35 Jake Sopcak is on a mini-streak, with 9 PRs this week and a commendable 2.5pt AF cut. This puts him ahead of #36 Steven Zwartjes and within striking distance of #33 David Grard and #34 Emmanuel Debenest. Jake is now with 5 places of reaching US #3 player Alejandro Hernandez, who was on a high this week after getting 32/32 Titan (he beat the BC 3lap standard to Titan D by just 0.001).
#67 Benoit Boudreau cut 3 AF points and edged #68 Simon Laflamme by half a point, making him the top-ranked Canadian. Where to next, Benoit? He says he'll be playing a bit less because of studies, but we know he's lying. Today pimpin' Canada, tomorrow the world. Two places behind Benoit is #69 Alan DeLoriea, who is unfortunately not Canadian (otherwise he'd have 3 in a row). Alan raced 8 PRs to start off this month, which was enough to pass three players. One place behind him is #70 Aron Langerak, fresh legs from the Netherlands, who scored 15 PRs to cut 5pts and move up 5 places. Alan, Benoit and Aron all reached Hero B this week, too.
#76 Ivo van der Stap, also Dutch, returned about 10 days ago after having been mising for a few months. This week Ivo cut 6 pts himself, just as Aron was ready to jump ahead again. There's only 5 players between them, so they're still close.
#135 Christophe Cosentino is making a nice push for the top 100, with a 12pt cut this week to move up almost 10 places. Chris passed #140 Peter Toch to became the #2 ranked Belgian, but he's still got some way to go before he can reach #85 Tom Salden.
#176 Stacy Needham continues her (I presume...? Someone correct me!) comeback from last week, moving up another 20 places. Stacy reported 16 new scores, and the timesheet is now very consistent - all 32 scores are Expert. Made it to Expect C overall.
#298 Ben McElmurry, fresh legs from the USA, crashed into the top 300 with a chunky 37pt load off, thanks to 18 new PRs. He's currently making a stop-over and paying his respects to the late #297 Sebastien Husherr, I guess, before departing towards the top 250. Ben gets an extra special mention, not just because he reached Adv C, but because he's a Zelos fan and everyone knows that real men wear pink. Not far behind, #330 Kyle Fraser returned after 2 months absence, and reported 30 new PRs. Kyle cut 36 AF pts and moved up almost 35 places.
Honourable mentions: #79 Jonas Natanaelsson (Hero C and 1337 ARR), #210 Kenny Cott (Expert D), #385 Michael Suzuki (skipped Int C to Int B).
New Records
Two WRs, both from unexpected names. Trystan Pugh fought off Fernando Moritz dos Santos to regain the Mushroom Bridge lap with 25"908, beating it by 0.01. Fernando got a WR here close to New Year's Day, but now Trystan has both the MB WRs again. On the same day as Trystan's WR, Olivier Peruch missed it by 0.03, making it into 4th spot (and Myth +). The God cut-off is 25"900.
Cedric Willo seems to have somehow beaten the record in one of the more annoying races, getting a 1'04"797 in Baby Park. This is less than 0.01 faster than Jonathan Steel's mark from 5 months ago. Both players, as well as Rene Bauer, have a Myth A score. Cedric missed out on M+ by just 0.008.

Proof call
Vince @ Saturday, February 4th [link]
|
Hey everyone, it's about time for the proof call. I've had little time to do it lately and it was more work than I thought but it's here now.
I've made a list of people that have insufficient proof (you can email deaththreats and the likes, email adress is listed later in this post so keep reading!), emails have been sent when you read this. Some people challenge removal if no proof is provided, others who have proven themselves before will get a yellow tick for "trusted" and will have to provide proof if they want to submit new prs ever again.
From now on, anyone will have to prove themselves after achieving the following overall ranks: Titan D, Titan+, Myth B and God. If someone is suspicious he might be called upon as well. The standard requirement for proof is 3 videos of some of your better records (world records if you have any), and a timescroll.
For any information, questions or suggestions, please contact me by email (mkdd.proof@gmail.com) or send me a private message on the message boards. I will post again with the progress next week. Thanks! |
Prison Break is cool.

Movement
#2 Hendrik Bunde has passed #Jonathan Steel this week, following last week's passing of Marius Mollenhauer. Hendrik ended last week very close to Jonathan, and pulled off 6 more PRs to clinch it. Though Hendrik is ahead in AF, he's 0.06 behind in ARR. He now trails #1 Raphael Segas by only 0.2 in AF! Raphael was last active 3 months ago.
Another tight finish to end the week was #9 Fernando Moritz dos Santos sneaking ahead of #10 Paul Tanney, by just 0.03 in AF. Fernando scored 4 PRs to cut 0.3 overall, but Paul fell by 0.1 so it was just enough. The next player ahead is #8 Rene Bauer, who is almost 3 whole points ahead. He will take some work to reach...
#17 Bo Garman pushed forward one more spot, dropping 2 whole AF pts to place himself with another 2 from #16 Andreas Rudmarker. #18 Cedric Willo reported 8 PRs and landed one spot behind Bo, after passing Rodolphe Gouet and Trystan Pugh. Cedric missed out on hitting Titan+ by two standards.
#38 Jake Sopcak scored a few beneficial PRs as well, cutting 2 AF pts with only 5 of them. Not far behind, #47 Jean-Christophe Lacastaignerate had a good previous week, but managed to get overtaken by countryman #45 Yoann Seznec. Yoann reported 11 new PRs, after having been away for almost a whole year! Yoann passed some other French players, too, such as #46 Jonathan Eyma and #49 Paul Regeffe.
#64 Thomas van Leeuwen moved up 3 more places, cutting a healthy 4.5 AF pts to pass fellow Dutchie #66 Rob an Zanten. A similar effort next week will see Thomas reach #61 Jeffrey Gutierrez, but this week he can be satisfied with reaching Hero B.
Canada never looked so tight, with its 3 top players being with 4 places of each other. Although #67 Simon Faflamme and #70 Matt Brown haven't been very active for some time, #68 Benoit "Pimpy" Boudreau moved up 7 places this week, thanks to a big 7.0 AF drop. He scored 15 PRs to make it past Matt, but stopped 3 AF pts behind Simon. Maybe we'll have a new Canadian champ soon...
Recent addition #75 Aron Langerak continued his streak into the new month, cutting a huge 21 AF pts (he made 24 PRs). He moved up 25 places, easily breaking into the top 100 (because he was one spot away last week, haha). Aron had some inconsistent times and very large gaps between his best and worst scores, but he's fixed most of these up. He looks like trouble.
No far behind, #83 Jonas Natanaelsson did some PR-age of his own, scoring 19 PRs and moving up 14 places (the players are pretty close in his region!) All but one of his new PRs were Hero, and Jonas made 95% of the way to reaching Hero C. He'll probably get it with his next submission.
Another recent guy, #111 Marijn Jongbloed is flying up the charts, cutting a huge 55 AF pts in his second week here. He moved up 47 places, and looks like having little trouble in reaching the top 100 soon. People always wondered when MKDD will get a Dutch M Jong... and Marijn is one place ahead of #112 Michael Jongerius, which is a nice coincidence. He's a bit like how Aron was last week - Marijn has some scores in the top 80, but also has some scores outside the top 180! If he fixed those up, he might reach Aron =)
#145 Christophe Cosentino made it to the top 150 after moving up 15 places, thanks to a 17 pt cut. He was inactive for a few months, but returned with 26 new PRs. Christophe is now 6 places behind Belgium's second-ranked, #139 Peter Toch. He reached Exp B this week.
Norway's top player, #157 Snorre Hakonsen, is getting closer to the top 150 as well. There were 19 PRs for him this week, translating to an 11pt cut in AF. Good news is he reached Exp B, but bad news is he only passed 4 players (there's a huge 10-pt gap between #159 and #160, you see.)
We had a comeback from #196 Stacy Needham, reporting a full set of new PRs. Stacy joined the site during the first few months, but went missing all the way back in Jan 2004. The new PRs were enough for a 60-pt cut, redeeming Stacy's old rank by 50 odd positions, back into the top 200 (and made it to Expert D instantly.)
We have some brand new players who did well in their first week, but since they'll probably improve by just as much next time, I can save the mentions until then. Plus, we expect them to destroy their old PRs at first, anyway.
Honourable mentions: #53 Karl Anders (newest Titan!), #101 Arnaud Palierne (newest Hero!), #219 Kenny Cott, #281 Mike Furst, #334 Ben McElmurry.
New Records
Hendrik Bunde makes the first WR for some weeks, this time on Daisy Cruiser with a 1'37"655. This score is less than 1/100th of a second faster than Andreas Rudmarker's time from November. Hendrik and Andreas, as well as Richard and Rodolphe each have a Myth A score on this level.
