| Awards You can now vote for the Player of the Year 2009. There's info on lots of players who made big cuts, but I've reduced the choices to only two. So whose is the coolest: Kouider or Christian? Kouider improved from 43rd to 6th, scoring a few WRs along the way and passing a lot of the top players. Christian missed the first half of the year (he joined in May), but made the most of it by improving from 282nd to 23rd. It's a tough decision! (And it also can't be bought with pictures, so please stop sending me photos, Andrew Math.) Movement #6 Kouider Benarioua is perhaps taking up the challenge of trying to catch #5 Marijn. He player only WS this week, but improved both of his scores several times. He even improved them enough to take one of Marijn's records, increasing his WR tally to 4. #18 David Schiering broke 1'05 in BP to get his first sub there. David says that he's finding some motivation back and might even keep playing for the next month or so. This week he reduced his AF score to 19.9. His next target, #17 Paul Maes, is only 0.3 ahead. #40 Ryan Stevens reached the top-40 after scoring 5 PRs. It's been some time since the two Tr*stans were split apart in 60Hz, but Ryan passed Trystan Pugh to take 25th place and couldn't quite pass Tristan Eyma. If they stay split up for too long the universe may asplode, so we need to force Ryan to improve some more PRs. And get that rank promotion. #57 Alain Studer decided to send us some old records, but when he switched on his GCN, he found out that his memory card had been blanked and his records were gone! Let that be a lesson to all the other hoarders who don't submit on time. Alain felt pretty bad about losing his times since he didn't write them down, so he decided to play some kart and try to get some new times instead. He didn't get many yet, but it was enough to pass Jonathan Eyma. #136 Flynn Hoppenbrouwers moved up 5 places. He's now one place behind all-kart leader Michael Fried. A worthy trophy to have on your wall. #228 Xenio Chan raced 10 records, his first reported PRs in a long time. He moved up 17 places. #366 McHenry Carlson made an even bigger cut this week than during the Christmas break, cutting 60 pts in AF. That put him on the good side of 400, but there's still a long way to go. His corresponding 48 pt cut in 60Hz pushed him up to 275th. Lower down, #521 Matt Jacob jumped 41 positions and left the Intermediate ranks for good by reaching Advanced D level, #726 Zack Weber moved up 10 places, and new guy #778 Kristopher Lamp made a 20pt cut and asked for some time trial advice. Since he's using the Green Fire, the most helpful thing would be first unlock the Barrel Train. It handles differently to most of the other vehicles, so there's no point getting used to snaking in a slow car until you first unlock the fastest car. New Records Kouider set a new lap record on Waluigi Stadium of 30"685. It beats the lovely Hz lap of 30"69 set by Marijn in 2008. Kouider, Marijn and Aron each have a G+3 time here and are only 0"01 apart. New Players No new players. |
