19 July 2009: "Big summary"
I was away for four weeks* and rarely had easy access to internet, so this update will be a summary of several weeks' worth of stuff.

June summary

#13 Kouider Benarioua was the highest-ranked active player. He made a 4pt AF cut to pass Bo and Tristan in the rankings. His PRs, which included 8 god times, numbered 3 in 60Hz and 18 in 50Hz. He became Myth A during this time.

#126 Christian Wild had the biggest cut of the month of 54%, meaning that he halved his AF. He had recently joined and had a strong first week on the site to reach 192nd, after which he jumped abother 67 places. In ARR he advanced from Expert C to Hero C.

#357 Agustin Berrios, going from Advanced D to Advanced A, had the second biggest AF cuts. He improved his AF by 1/3rd (about 150pts) over the month to reach the top-400.

Two other players made cuts of over 10% -- #180 Jordan Jackson and #354 Ashley O'Hara -- and several others were active but with smaller cuts (David L, Soren, Austin, Luke, David M, Nick and Patrick).

I'll make a POQ poll for April-May-June soon.

July summary

Only the first two weeks of July have passed so far. Most amazingly, the two players who have been champions for the longest number of days both made PRs and changed their ranks. Hendrik Bunde raced two PRs in Daisy Cruiser in the first week to pass Richard Karlsson and take the #1 position. Richard had held onto it for 2.5 months. In the second week, Richard reported a new DKM lap to tie Hendrik overall. So now they are tied (again!) at the #1 place. We can call them both champions, since they are equal. The Past Champs page lists Hendrik as the leader (since he was not beaten) and the AF page shows Richard as the leader. Last time it was Kouider who broke the tie between them by beating one of Hendrik's records... will he be able to do it again?

Speaking of which, #10 Kouider has moved up by another 3 places. He ended the previous month at 13th, but was close to the next few players and needed less to pass them than he needed to pass Bo. Kouider's victims were #13 Olivier Peruch, #12 Raphael Segas and #11 Marius Mollenhauer. Raphael is a former champ and hails from France, but Kouider, who plays for France, still has the current French champ #7 Jean-Christophe Lacastaignerate a fair distance ahead of him. He will need to cut another 4pts to reach JSX, or another 1.5pts to reach the next player up, #9 Andrew Math. Unlike a few of the other players in the top-10, Andrew is still active and may be able to defend his place. In the mean time, even if Kouider doesn't catch Andrew anytime soon, he will at least know that he has just reached the Myth+ level!

#102 Terrence Fenner has decided to make a return, perhaps for long enough to solidify a top-100 position. He will need to beat a girl, women's champ #99 Alessandra Martinelli, to get there. However, #107 Christian Wild may get there before him. Christian has been on a big streak for the past month. He has improved from 126th to 107th in the past two weeks, so he is on course to reach the top-100 soon.

Few would have noticed, but evergreen #114 Piet den Dulk broke the record for biggest gap between a player's oldest and newest PRs. His Baby Park lap was set 4.3 years ago, giving him a difference of 1567 days to his newest PR set earlier this month. Three other players have also reached 1500+ days: Alex Pitera, Marc Carig and Mark Polo. Now Piet just has to make sure not to beat his BP lap, and hope that no other veteran with times dating from 2004 makes a surprise comeback.

#239 Nick Harvey is cruising along in a quiet region of the table, with the next active player being 60 places higher in the table. Not that Nick seems too bothered with the lack of active competition, because he's making PRs. He's raced 19 PRs this month, totaling a 32pt AF cut.

New Records

One new record to report. As mentioned, Hendrik Bunde's scored two Daisy Cruiser times to take the #1. Of these, his 31"257 lap was a record by just 0"004 over Andreas Rudmarker's lap from 2007. Both Andreas and Hendrik have G+6 laps here, while third-placed Richard is 0"02 behind and has G+5.
