08 May 2007: "I guess Man U were winners after all..."
Movement

#1 Aron Langerak and #2 Hendrik Bunde both scored one WR each this week, but otherwise remained quiet. Hendrik trails Aron by 0.12 in AF.

#5 Marijn Jongbloed normally wouldn't make the news for scoring a single time during the week (it wasn't even God!), but his Rainbow PR gave him the edge on #6 Vincent van der Fluit to become the second Dutch player.

We received some PRs from #9 Raphael Segas. Six of them, to be precise, five of which were God. I'm not sure how outdated they are, but they give Raphy a 0.4pt AF cut... enough to pass his old borderline rival and enemy #10 Marius Mollenhauer by just 0.03! Raphael still hasn't fulfilled his promise to play lovely 60Hz, so you can be sure that he'll be back some day. If he says otherwise, Marius will cross that border and force him.

Speaking of Marius and Raphael, #8 Konsta Jukka can beat his chest that he's passed two former champions in the one week. Konsta made a tiny 0.2 cut from his 6 PRs, but it was enough. That said, neither is Marius the top German, nor Raphael the top French. So Konsta still has work to do if he wants to push Finland even higher. He is 0.8 AF pts behind #7 Jean-Christophe Lacastaignerate.

#15 Bo Garman had another of here-and-there PRs that bring him ever-closer to #14 Jonathan Steel, but still not quite. Earlier in the week, Bo beat two of Andrew Math's latest times to get 32/32 USA records. He held that only briefly, for Andrew beat two more of Bo's times the next day. I suppose he could pass Jonathan by concentrating on just those two records (he is 0.2 behind in AF), but word is that he may not play for a few weeks.

As mentioned, #21 Andrew Math is still going strong. This week marks the first time Bo and his real-life friend #22 Jake Sopcak have been separated in the charts for a long time. Andrew's 1.3pt AF cut was enough to pass two players this week, one of whom was Jake.

#48 Matt Tanzer narrowly got in front of newcomer #46 Jeremy Malartre last week, but the tables turned against him this time. Jeremy had a strong showing, accumulating a 5.3pt AF cut from 7 PRs. Matt made a 2.3pt cut himself, passing #49 Jonathan Eyma. Jeremy passed the same, as well as #47, and he also reached Titan A.

#57 Joey Michorius, newly crowned Titan C, raced 9 PRs for a 3.9pt cut. It doesn't sound so big, but Joey is in a densely populated region of players and passed 6 players. It's shame he's not French, because four of his victims were. If Joey wants to reach the top-50, he will have to pass three Dutchies in a row -- #50 Koen, #51 Bart and #52 Steven.

Fellow Dutchie #69 Jerrol Hoppenbrouwers is not quite close enough to Joey to give him any headaches just yet, but he's making his way towards #66 Ivo van der Stap. Jerrol passed four well-known MKDDers this week: veterans #70 Paul Regeffe and #71 Pasrtnah Bahjo, and Americans #72 Rob Chastain and #73 Jon Prentice. Not an uneventful week.

#134 Andrew Manning and #140 Andrew Johnson are having a little trouble taming #129 Alessandra Martinelli, who has once against taken a shiny golden lead in her rivalry. She trails AM in course totals, but leads the other stats. Armed with 16 PRs, she passed six players in the charts and broke the 9 minute barrier in lap totals. Despite all that, Andrew does have something big, hard, impressive and desirable that Alessandra doesn't: a top-100 time. He raced a Hero A course time on Mush Bridge that ranks 87th!

More comebacks: #159 Alexandre Vaesken, who has been away since 2005, reported 13 new PRs a few days ago. Crazy long break. He cut 9pts in AF to move up about ten places, but there's no doubt that he's lost a whole big giant bunch of places on the ladder since he went away. Will he make those places up again?

#211 Patrick Hewson cut his distance to reaching the top-200 in half this week. Well, at least in terms of positions. He still needs 20pts in AF to actually get there. One person who did just that is Ryan Stevens, who could last week be found where Patrick is now, and who can this week be found at #200 with a 18pt AF cut and wearing a new 'Expert B' tattoo. #199 Jeremy Huang denied Ryan a top-200 finish, stealing the 199th spot with a single PR this week.

#355 Zach Tabak. 67pt cut. Top-400. Adv B, skipping Adv C. (i.e. he's a new guy.)
On a similar vein, #489 Alvaro Fababu made it into the top-500 and to Intermediate A status.

Honourable mentions: #370 Marco D'Angelo (Adv B)

New Records

There were 2 WRs, both coming from the godly heavens.

Aron beat Hendrik's 27'97 record lap on Dry Dry Desert with a 27"915 G+3. Hendrik's G+2 time was from December.

Hendrik responded by taking back the Yoshi Circuit lap record that Aron had taken from him, beating Aron's 32'28 with a 32"267. Both times are G+3.
