02 February 2006: "Prison Break is cool."
Movement

#2 Hendrik Bunde has passed #Jonathan Steel this week, following last week's passing of Marius Mollenhauer. Hendrik ended last week very close to Jonathan, and pulled off 6 more PRs to clinch it. Though Hendrik is ahead in AF, he's 0.06 behind in ARR. He now trails #1 Raphael Segas by only 0.2 in AF! Raphael was last active 3 months ago.

Another tight finish to end the week was #9 Fernando Moritz dos Santos sneaking ahead of #10 Paul Tanney, by just 0.03 in AF. Fernando scored 4 PRs to cut 0.3 overall, but Paul fell by 0.1 so it was just enough. The next player ahead is #8 Rene Bauer, who is almost 3 whole points ahead. He will take some work to reach...

#17 Bo Garman pushed forward one more spot, dropping 2 whole AF pts to place himself with another 2 from #16 Andreas Rudmarker. #18 Cedric Willo reported 8 PRs and landed one spot behind Bo, after passing Rodolphe Gouet and Trystan Pugh. Cedric missed out on hitting Titan+ by two standards.

#38 Jake Sopcak scored a few beneficial PRs as well, cutting 2 AF pts with only 5 of them. Not far behind, #47 Jean-Christophe Lacastaignerate had a good previous week, but managed to get overtaken by countryman #45 Yoann Seznec. Yoann reported 11 new PRs, after having been away for almost a whole year! Yoann passed some other French players, too, such as #46 Jonathan Eyma and #49 Paul Regeffe.

#64 Thomas van Leeuwen moved up 3 more places, cutting a healthy 4.5 AF pts to pass fellow Dutchie #66 Rob an Zanten. A similar effort next week will see Thomas reach #61 Jeffrey Gutierrez, but this week he can be satisfied with reaching Hero B.

Canada never looked so tight, with its 3 top players being with 4 places of each other. Although #67 Simon Faflamme and #70 Matt Brown haven't been very active for some time, #68 Benoit "Pimpy" Boudreau moved up 7 places this week, thanks to a big 7.0 AF drop. He scored 15 PRs to make it past Matt, but stopped 3 AF pts behind Simon. Maybe we'll have a new Canadian champ soon...

Recent addition #75 Aron Langerak continued his streak into the new month, cutting a huge 21 AF pts (he made 24 PRs). He moved up 25 places, easily breaking into the top 100 (because he was one spot away last week, haha). Aron had some inconsistent times and very large gaps between his best and worst scores, but he's fixed most of these up. He looks like trouble.

No far behind, #83 Jonas Natanaelsson did some PR-age of his own, scoring 19 PRs and moving up 14 places (the players are pretty close in his region!) All but one of his new PRs were Hero, and Jonas made 95% of the way to reaching Hero C. He'll probably get it with his next submission.

Another recent guy, #111 Marijn Jongbloed is flying up the charts, cutting a huge 55 AF pts in his second week here. He moved up 47 places, and looks like having little trouble in reaching the top 100 soon. People always wondered when MKDD will get a Dutch M Jong... and Marijn is one place ahead of #112 Michael Jongerius, which is a nice coincidence. He's a bit like how Aron was last week - Marijn has some scores in the top 80, but also has some scores outside the top 180! If he fixed those up, he might reach Aron =)

#145 Christophe Cosentino made it to the top 150 after moving up 15 places, thanks to a 17 pt cut. He was inactive for a few months, but returned with 26 new PRs. Christophe is now 6 places behind Belgium's second-ranked, #139 Peter Toch. He reached Exp B this week.

Norway's top player, #157 Snorre Hakonsen, is getting closer to the top 150 as well. There were 19 PRs for him this week, translating to an 11pt cut in AF. Good news is he reached Exp B, but bad news is he only passed 4 players (there's a huge 10-pt gap between #159 and #160, you see.)

We had a comeback from #196 Stacy Needham, reporting a full set of new PRs. Stacy joined the site during the first few months, but went missing all the way back in Jan 2004. The new PRs were enough for a 60-pt cut, redeeming Stacy's old rank by 50 odd positions, back into the top 200 (and made it to Expert D instantly.)

We have some brand new players who did well in their first week, but since they'll probably improve by just as much next time, I can save the mentions until then. Plus, we expect them to destroy their old PRs at first, anyway.

Honourable mentions: #53 Karl Anders (newest Titan!), #101 Arnaud Palierne (newest Hero!), #219 Kenny Cott, #281 Mike Furst, #334 Ben McElmurry.

New Records

Hendrik Bunde makes the first WR for some weeks, this time on Daisy Cruiser with a 1'37"655. This score is less than 1/100th of a second faster than Andreas Rudmarker's time from November. Hendrik and Andreas, as well as Richard and Rodolphe each have a Myth A score on this level.
