21 July 2005: "Changes on the Horizon"
It's been almost 2 years now and some of the rules and practices we set into place at the beginning are starting to lose their effectiveness. The system of proof in place has sought to validate *people* more so than specific times. Well, some players have vastly outplayed the quality of proof they once provided, and for the players diligently producing proof videos, this is growing increasingly unfair. Simply put, we're going to look to implement a system that keeps after players, targeting top players as usual. The general goal is that players must provide new proof after a certain period... when that period expires, they will be addressed. A player's activeness will be taken into account, of course. For example, if they did not raise a rank or move more than, say, (x)% up the chart since the last gave proof, they'd be exempt. Lots of ideas are being considered, currently. If after negotiations a player cannot or will not provide proof of their latest stuff, they will be frozen or removed.

I will be passing on the bulk of responsibility to Vincent van der Fluit, our primary scores updater and fellow competitor. The usual suspects will oversee everything; Vincent has been selected to simply enforce the rules. And about these rules... this place is called the Player's Page for a reason. Discussion has been opened on the forum about this topic. Please make your voice heard so we can determine the best way to implement this modification to the existing system. The only thing that's certain is that we want to develop a system that will handle post-validation proof requests, and ideally, stand the test of time.
