26 March 2004: "Status Update"
---
Well the messageboard has been down the last few days because when our hosting company moved our site to a new server a few of the board index files were corrupted and as a result we lost over 10,000 posts from the Mk64 and MKDD boards. Luckily we had backed up the site and messageboard on March 6th. I attempted to upgrade our messageboard in hopes that the upgrade would restore all of our old posts but I was unable to upgrade the board. Consequently, I restored the March 6th index files for the MK64 and MKDD boards and left the other boards alone... so the board is now back up but missing the posts in the MK64 and MKDD topics from March 6th until I took the board down last week. It should be working now so if you have any problems let me know. We dodged a bullet and things could have been a lot worse. In other news the database I have been using to update the site has reached critcal capacity with 297 members (only being able to store 300). As a result Alex Penev and I have been working diligently trying to get his new database and site design up and running on this server (he has been running it in parallel to this site on his own server for the last couple months as he developed and tested it). We hope to get it working very soon and things will run a lot more smoothly when it's in place. I've seen the new design and database features and it's beyond description and I think everyone will like it better to say the least. I have also been listening to those who have voiced their concerns about the 50hz/60hz issue and Alex's new design incorporates a new feature which displays what framerate each person uses for each of their times. For now this will allow people to see what the top players are using for their PRs. I know a lot of people have been asking for split rankings but at this time I don't think that it is necessary to split the rankings. However this is not set in stone and may change in the future if new information comes to light. We might provide secondary split rankings in the future while maintaining the main combined rankings but I haven't talked to Alex about that yet and whether or not he can alter his database to do that. So I thank you for your continued patience during this transitional period as we upgrade the site. You guys are awesome and I thank your for your continued support and understanding.
