- Mainpage menu & some new pages -
by Michael at 3:38 pm
I made some adjustments and additions to the menu at the left side. The "interactive" section has been placed a little higher on the menu, so you won't need to scroll that much anymore to go to the messageboard. The messageboard link will also open in the same window now. I added links to Tim's national records page, and to Mark's video page. And you'll find 3 other new links in the menu: "Links", "Various Stuff" and "Mario Kart 64 Tournaments". Check out those links and maybe you'll find some stuff that you hadn't seen before. I hope you'll like these additions/improvements.

by Steven G at 3:24 pm
I updated the lists (Non-SC). David Goodpasture reaches elite B, Kevin Margado reaches elite B, Jonathon Halford reaches pro A and Jared Guemmer reaches semi-pro F. Other active players were Eric Habrich, Tim Everett, Michael Fried, Finn Berger, Steven Gutierrez and Scott Brehm. On SC news I reached King A right below David Wonn. David Goodpasture is now on the SC list and comes in at elite B. Other active players were Michael Fried, and Tim everett. We have two new players on the non-sc list this update. Welcome Lee Reid (Advanced-F) and Corey Thompson (Pro-C). Both are not on the SC list.

David Goodpasture submitted times from the past few weeks/months and improved his ARR score by 2,1 points to reach Elite B. Steven Guttierez got some more strong shortcut times. He reached King A in shortcuts with it. And more people were active, including new members Corey Thompson and Lee Reid.

- Mario Kart Double Dash will have extra unlockable MK64-style cups -
by Mark at 4:41 pm
The scanned magazine article being hosted on mario-kart.net contains a quote from Nintendo MKDD Product Manager Marko Hein saying that "there are two more hidden cups that are a surprise for players. Of course, not the same courses as the N64 version, but new designs. The look and feel is the same, but the courses are absolutely different."So this could mean either two things: 1. That the new tracks will look and feel like new MK64 tracks but the gameplay will still be that of MKDD. or 2. That the new cups are actually MK64 tracks with MK64 gameplay as we all know and love it. Some interesting things to think about...

by Michael at 5:21 am
The PAL World Records from the past 3 weeks by Michael Jongerius and Alex Penev are updated, as well as the NTSC World Records by Eric Habrich. On the world rankings, the top ranks stayed pretty much the same, since Jongerius, Penev and Habrich only strengthened their leads. At non-shortcut NTSC, Tim Everett went from #18 to #13 and Michael Fried went from #31 to #23. In shortcuts, Fernando Moritz dos Santos and Steven Gutierrez stormed into the top 12. At the PAL rankings, Thomas Grandjean passed me and tied Lars Nouwen for 7th place. Charles Tasserit was the biggest climber on both non-shortcut (#29 to #24) and shortcut (#11 to #8).

Steven Gutierrez made a spectacular shortcut improvement. He went from King F to King B (29th to 21st place in AvgFin), thanks to a spiral hit at Rainbow Road and several other fast shortcut times. The #1 and #2 shortcut players, Alex Penev and Ben Miller, were active at Toad's Turnpike shortcut. It resulted in a WR tie and a PAL WR by Penev. Eric Habrich is edging closer to Steven Zwartjes in nonSC AvgFin (5.969 vs 5.844). Thomas Grandjean passes Marcelo Almeida dos Reis in AvgFin. The familiar names of the past few weeks are still steadily improving their times: Tim Everett (Legend C), Michael Fried (Legend F), Finn Berger (King B now), Scott Brehm (King C), Josh Caudle (Elite A) and Kevin Margado (almost Elite B). Dean Barnhart went from Master C to Master B. Ignacio Lezcano went from Pro C to Pro B. Jonathon Halford went from Pro D to Pro B and passed Lezcano. David Hayter improved a few spots. Peter Wolfgang, who joined previous update, improved his stats by climbing 15 places on ARR, reaching Expert B.And finally, we have two new members. Emile Broekhuizen (Netherlands), and Patrick Gustie (USA). Emile joins at Intermediate B non-shortcut, but doesn't have a complete set of non-shortcut times yet, Patrick Gustie joins at semi-pro A.

- Updated Validation Status -
by Kevin at 12:51 pm
PREFACEOk, I'm just not sure how to word all of this, and I don't feel like going through 2-3 hours to find the right words to not make it so harsh, but I just would like to say that I do appreciate everyones efforts in making this a great community, and getting in their proof. A good deal of people have been voluntarily following the guidelines to their best ability or close. However, I just feel that I've been far too soft, and as a result, I've been pretty much stomped on in the past. Right now, I got a lot going on, and I Need to focus on other things, to make money, instead of being on here bugging people for proof, so I have said some things that have needed to be said for quite some time. HERE IT IS
Ok, I tried to the best of my knowlege, completed the validation charts for anyone that is King F in either Non-sc or SC. If you have a V by your name, that means I, or an approved person has your tape, or has seen you demonstrate scores to the level that you are currently at. If you have an A by your name, you still have a chance to get that changed to a V, however, since it is passed September first, that could end without warning, cause it's based on many things, not just twin galaxies, but also when some other things end up happening, because the time will be very soon when I will be gone most the time, cause things are getting a bit tight around here, and I have got to make some $, or I'll be broke, so sorry. As far as other things go, for the future, if you have achieved at least a few King Level Times, you should already be emailing me and saying you have a completed tape, and asking what to do next. While yes, proof is about validation and trust, it's actually way more about respect. Face it, I could have not validated any of my times, since I am the owner of the site, but that wouldn't have allowed anyone to get where they are now, and if you ask me, a King Level World Champion would just be lame, so out of seeing the big picture, I chose to do so, and I hope everyone else voluntarily does the same, in order to preserve the great community we got. Now, if I have never gotten any form of proof from you in the past, I may also require some sort of verification of ID. This I probably won't choose to use much, and probably only in cases in which are severe, but I have had at least a couple instances in the past that could have benefitted from doing that. But ok, Reach King F, send tape or make vid within 60 days, or A. Get Frozen, unless it's a severe case in which B. You get older times replaced, or even C. You get removed. Same goes as you reach Legend F, and then GOD. You get 60 days each time, so make sure you tape all your races. If you don't have a vcr or means to tape your replayed races, just ask around the community, and I am sure somebody will be willing to help you. Excuses don't fly here, and I've been far too soft. Lastly, outside of proof, if a player conducts themselves in any way that would be degrading or would embarrass the kart community as a whole (example: hoarding times in perfect dark elite, or going around the net and pissing people off, and then they come here an flame us) It's just as bad as not proving your times. Anyhow, please check these out, cause I could have made a mistake, and even if there are V's, especially on the PAL side, give me an email at KevinBooth1@comcast.net if any of this is incorrect immmediately.

by Kevin at 10:50 pm

Quite a few new ones up there, and we have a new world record holder on the board. Eric nearly lost his last WR, just before he got his fastlap to WR status, and defended his fastlap WR just before MJ counterattacked it.

- Three to go -

by Tim at 1:09 pm

"Almost complete" is an overstatement; there were five to go. Without a database, typing these by hand is fairly strenuous. Now there are three to go, and I promise to get all three done by next update. You should follow Charles Tasserit's example, stating his records in his submissions. It makes sure for a faster update National Records

Eric Habrich passed Alex Penev on the AvgFin list, and is about halfway to beating Steven Zwartjes now. Tim Everett reached Legend C and shows no signs of slowing down at all. Michael Fried has joined the Legend ranks. Congrats! Many other players were active. We got three new members. Welcome to: Jean Dubreuil, Oscar Lopez Lopez and Buzzy Morrison.

- National Records almost complete -
by Tim at 2:54 pm
For the time being, all nations are now listed. However, the ones with an asterisk* are not in the format of the others; they are links to the top player's times. Those nations essentially have one player dominating. The other records are updated. In the European corner, Charles Tasserit continues an assault on the French times, while in the American corner, Booth begins to win records back. Overall there was little activity. Hopefully that will change, right? Link here
