Saturday, September 29, 2001 - PL+Links+POW updated - by Kevin at 5:00 pm
Ok, I have corrected some links that I messed up on, so most of the links should be correct now. If any aren't, you know how to contact me, and they will get done next update. Josh Hawkins has been added as a new member, and we give welcome to yet another Sydney Karter. Will he be another Penev?

Some Link changes this time around as well. The new message boards we are using are from Mario Kart Elite (our affiliates from the first person shooter sites), and Gamefaqs Kart 64 section. I felt since our MB was fairly dead, that I better bring you guys to some that are fairly active.

Anyhow, POW is updated, and SOMEBODY has finally gotten recognition for his great karting. If you want to know, you know where to go!

- Top 100s, ARR & AvgFins Updated - by Michael at 10:34 am
Ruokai Chen and Brent Wingert had a good share of PRs again. Both players moved up on the lists. On the overall it looks like Wingert has increased his lead on Chen a little. His ARR score has reached Elite C, and he would even have passed Eise Smit on the ARR list with that. However, since Eise didn't want to get passed, he also started playing again. And he made some great progress. He reached Elite B, and went from #48 to #43 on the AvgFin ranking, passing Patrick Wessels and Ben Gorman. Another active Elite player was Kelly Malo. He's now very close to reaching the Elite A ranks.

David Tran improved his Rainbow Road time even more, and tied Milo for #32 on the AvgFin rankings.
In the lower ranks, we see Dunkel gaining some space on Wingler again. Fairbourn showed great potential by moving from #119 to #101 on the nonSC avgfin rankings.
New member Josh Hawkins entered in the Intermediate ranks, just in front of Nick Mulder, who joined earlier this week.

Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - Players List Updated - by Kevin at 9:59 pm
Ok, I should have the correct links for David Tran, Bobby Yu, and Brent Wingert posted. If any other links are not working properly, please let me know.

Anyhow, emails are starting to pick up, and you will see there is some major activity on and just below the Elite Rankings. Take a look!

Also, welcome to the site Nick and Ingeborg Mulder. This brother and sister combo should be flying up the charts in no time!

Tuesday, September 25, 2001 - Top 100s, ARR & AvgFins Updated - by Michael at 5:23 pm
Welcome to Nick and Ingeborg Mulder. They're friends of Beau Fairbourn. They enter the Avg Fin lists at #138 and #146, with ARR scores that give them Intermediate C and Apprentice D ranks for the Player List. Beau Fairbourn himself jumped from #129 to #119 on the Avg Fin list.

Andrew Wingler has gotten very close to Dunkel now. 2 places behind him on the ARR list, and only 1 spot behind on the Avg Fin list.

Ruokai Chen was the biggest climber of this update. He climbed from #62 to #55 on the ARR list, passing Michael Jongerius. His ARR score is enough to give him the Elite rank. Congrats! Next target seems to be Brent Wingert. This could become a very interesting battle...

In the King ranks, David Tran made his return to kart. A very fast Rainbow Road 3lap time (#19 in the world) and other PRs made him pass Milo in ARR.

Sunday, September 23, 2001 - A little Something Just In Case.... - by Kevin at 12:23 pm
At the players list, Liem and I have worked on a rundown on how we rate players with this new automated system. One of these important changes is at

http://kevinbooth.20m.com/kart64/ranksys.html

Anyhow, the only thing that really has changed is not the values you assign to each course, but the letter grade you get at the end. An example of this is, Legend + is 0.650 and not 0.500, and Legend A is 1.499 and not 1.000. You'll also see some balance changes for Elite and Master that will help our lower ranked friends. As I said before, this does NOT change the values you initially assign to each course, for those that like to keep track of that on your own. God=0, and there is no Legend + standards list, so no Legend + value, than it just goes 1 for LA and down 1 from there til Kart fan of 61.

For SC, same program, only we cut it off at Elite F as usual, and Non-elite times are a value of 17, while if you have never even landed the SC (just the 10 original ones), you get a value of 20. You divide by 20 even if you have a KD SC or not, cause KD SC cannot be rated, cause there are no standards for it, as you know.

(That was mouthful! Any questions, you know how to contact me... Email at KevinBooth1@home.com or aim me at Glitchman1)

- Players List Updated - by Kevin at 12:17 pm
Brent Wingert has now joined! He is even entering as an Elite, as well. Very good stuff from him. Next update, There will be 2 recruits of Beau's from his hometown. Also, you'll see R.Chen really fly up the ladder with some absolutely crushing times. I think he got tired of getting snubbed for the POW. Oh yes, check the POW stuff out, cause I got that taken care of as well!

Saturday, September 22, 2001 - Top 100s, ARR & AvgFins Updated - by Michael at 6:57 am
Congrats to new member Brent Wingert, who entered the ARR and Avg Finish lists at #52 and #55. He cracked straight into the Elite ranks!

Wednesday, September 19, 2001 - Top 100s, ARR & AvgFins Updated - by Michael at 1:38 pm
Yep, time to check those pages again. I see Kevin also updated the Player List yesterday.
Welcome to new member Beau Fairbourn, who has a nice set of times for a new member. He enters the Average Finish nonSC rankings at #128.
Kelly Malo, Jerome van Wijk, Matt Broderick, and Rob McFarland show that they still like to set PRs occasionally at this game. McFarland might send us even more PRs later this week.

Saturday, September 15, 2001 - Player List Updated - by Kevin at 5:15 pm
Got some great news folks... The COLORS ARE BACK! You now can see active and HOT players back in their respective colors. I know you all wanted that feature back, and I'm glad to be able to deliver on this promise. Once again, Michael Liem was on top of things, and got the job done. All thanx goes to him!

Anyhow, A few players that have been doing great are Derek Clark on his most recent comeback run, Mark Jones, hitting some mad Elite SC numbers, and Andrew Wingler is really showing what a highly motivated player can do. Many other great performers, but I think you should check it out for yourself!

- MK64 News Archives Online - by Michael at 7:01 am
With our new mainpage updating system, we needed a good news archives page, so that you can still check the old news if you missed something.
I just put a new archives page online, that's updated automatically. Go to the menu at the left and click at "Historical" -> "Archived News".

Friday, September 14, 2001 - Top 100s and stat pages updated - by Michael at 4:09 pm
I updated the top100s, AvgFins and ARR page.
Mark Jones made a spectacular move from #53 to #31 on the Shortcut Avg Fin rankings!
In the nonSC stats Michael Jongerius has passed some retired Elite players. So, at next player list update we can expect him to join the Elite ranks.
Andrew Wingler has passed Stanley Jeram in Avg Fin, and he's also getting close to Anthony Dunkel. However, Jeram and Dunkel are also active, so probably it won't happen without a good fight...

- Total Times Up To Date - by Dave at 3:34 pm
I just updated the Total Times page. It's done through Yahoo Group message #3701. The look has been simplified a bit to allow for automated updates. As always, please let me know if any of your totals are incorrect.

Tuesday, September 11, 2001 - America Under Attack - by Kevin at 8:01 pm
Well, as a leader in the gaming community, and a resident of the USA, I felt I should write something on the worst tragedy to hit US soil since Pearl Harbor.

This will be a day all us gamers, and so forth, will remember forever. 9/11/01 is definitely a 911 day! Just like to say that I have seen some of our members online, that are relatively close to all that went down, and they are ok. This includes Twin Galaxies
Referee Robert Mruczek, which lives in Brooklyn, and saw most the action go on with the buildings.

I agree with everyone else that this is a tragedy, and that this was an act of war directed by a faceless coward, using a 4-plane suicide assault on our key buildings. I urge everyone to come together, not just as a gaming community, but as a world. Do not overreact, but don't kid yourself, and think you are invincible to such things.

Lets be strong, and move forward from this, and remember the great individuals that are no longer with us. WE are strong, and events like the one you saw today will prove undoubtedly this.

Saturday, September 08, 2001 - Top 100 update - by Michael at 5:01 pm
The top 100s/AvgFins/ARR are updated again.
Kevin Booth tied Lacey on Average Finish and broke their tie on ARR. Derek Clark managed to beat Horwitz and Nichols in both ARR and AvgFin stats now.

Quite some people are active in the lower King to Semi-pro ranks. Yrvin van Wijk, Michael Jongerius and Mark Jones returned to MK64 after short periods of inactivity. Kelly Malo, Ruokai Chen, Anthony Dunkel and Andrew Wingler continued setting new PRs. Funnily enough, all these active people are separated from an other active player by at least 7 spots on the ranking pages. So, it looks like there are no direct battles going on now. Maybe next update someone will be able to close the gap to the player in front of him?

And finally, new member Afree Baltes debuted at the AvgFin lists at #163 for nonSC, and #141 for SC.

Thursday, September 06, 2001 - 2 new profiles - by William at 3:17 pm
I just finished making up new profiles for our newest members, Lars JJ Coervers and Afree Baltes. Welcome to the community guys and keep sending in those times!

Wednesday, September 05, 2001 - Update On TG Stuff - by Kevin at 7:31 pm
I now have finally gotten the forms in from oversees. Liem and Lacey are now TG ready. I am probably not expecting any more forms in transit, so I'll probably be mailing those tomorrow.

I have finished reviewing Whalls' tape, and pretty much all I would want is on there. I will be working on Nathan Stinsons tonight, so I will let you all know how that goes. He taped many titles, so for those all involved, you will be getting a detailed email based on what I have witnessed.

- Top 100 update - by Michael at 2:51 pm
I just made the first update of this new month for the top 100 page, Average Finish Rankings and ARR page.

Derek Clark passed Nichols on the ARR rankings and is tied with Horwitz. He's also very close to those players on the Avg Fin rankings. Next on the list are Tsagouris and Nouwen, 2 players who recently passed him. Will Derek be able to catch them back?

The other hot players from this update were: Ruokai Chen, Anthony Dunkel and Andrew Wingler. These 3 people are setting constant PRs, and it will be very interesting to see how high they can get on the rankings.

I made a change to the top 100 pages: the new Luigi Raceway Shortcut and the spiral jump on Rainbow Road are now listed as regular shortcuts.

- TG Proof/Forms In! - by Kevin at 12:05 pm
Man, the amount of stuff I'm getting must be really pestering the mailman. I have now seen tapes from Whalls and Stinson, and some forms from Wonn and Clark.

There are 3 more forms in transit, I believe. Hopefully these make it to me very soon, but you know how it goes with the oversees stuff.

Tuesday, September 04, 2001 - Welcome Back Everyone! - by Kevin at 12:52 pm
Hello All! Were indeed back in business, and alot has changed recently. As most of you saw in the mass email, to you all, we now have several people updating the news, instead of just one now, with a news script.
Also, we have now automated the players list and split it up into Non-sc and SC. The formula is gonna consist of influences from Average Finish, Total Times, and The World Records you set. We are still working on the balancing, so specifics may be released later on.

Now that we are going to this method of updating, it is VERY important that everyone gets their submissions in prompty. I prefer once a day, if you get a PR in that given day. If you don't, we are unable to keep the players list totally accurate, cause your scores affect others scores on that list. A prime example is that Gallo passed Penev for Non-sc, cause of scores in transit.

Anyhow, Great Karting Everyone as of late! Lacey has really been showing everyone that Legend Level players can get the job done. Derek Clark and Alex Penev are also doing awesome in their comebacks as well, and I did set those Bowsers Castle Scores. Dunkel, Chen, and Gorman are leading the strong new member movement with insane scores. Malo and other elites have been doing great as well, as they also concentrate their effors in more than one game.

Anyhow, graet to have you all back here, and if any of the other updaters have something to add, I'm sure they will be glad to add something. Good luck all!

Saturday, September 01, 2001 - News from my part - by Michael at 10:14 am
August has ended now. I updated the top 100s, Average Finish rankings and ARR page. The PAL and NTSC top 25/ top 15 tables and worldrankings have also been updated. So check them all out.
