Welcome to another news update, kart fans! Apologies for the delay of this update; surprisingly, it had nothing to do with MKWii. Well, almost nothing. Actually…I won’t make you wait any longer so let’s get right to it.

Up at the top, Andre Hermanny continued his impressive year and moved into 7th outright, pushing Michael Fried down to 8th. Brazil’s representation in the top 10 looks ever more impressive with karters at 2, 3 and 7; can Andre improve that even further and bridge the gap to William Lacey in 6th? The ever-present John Falls Marshall narrowed the gap to Cooper Lovera in 19th to the smallest possible amount. A gain of a single place on any track will see John tie Cooper, and two will put him ahead. Zoran Tintor was in action again with more good cuts that put him in a tie for 24th with Thomas Grandjean. Last year’s Player of the Year seems determined to keep John in his sights and only 2.5 AF separate the two men. Where would a news update be without some action from Maurice Fleer? He stayed in 34th despite his PRs but is less than an AF point behind both Jason Whalls and Finn Berger, who cut a single ARR point from his total thanks to his RRy exploits. Reports indicate that Finn may have raced a much faster RRy PR so Maurice may have a bit more work to do yet.

John improved his SC standing too, cutting 1.2 from his AF but remaining in 8th thanks to the considerable gap to Alex Penev in 7th. John will need another 4 AF if he wants to pass Alex and move up another place. Matthew Little was on the move, passing Sami Cetin for 21st. Matthias Rustemeyer continued to improve, moving up 15 places to 74th.

The charts were quieter outside the nonSC top 50 but a familiar name from the last few months was PRing again: Marcos Vinicius Alves, up two more places to 88th. Johnny Hengel was also up two, rising to 143rd, while Pat Bertovich went up a place to 149th. Willem Pieters made some good cuts after joining in April, moving up 16 places into 152nd. Matthias couldn’t quite match his SC improvements but still managed to move up a place into 169th here.

Fabio Sacco was one of the biggest movers of the month, slashing over 71 points from his AF to leap up into the top 300 at 292! Toby Hooper made some nice cuts to lower his AF by more than 30 and reach 323rd. Another new player from April doing well was Nicholas Hindes, who cut even more than Fabio from his AF! Nicholas managed a 76 point cut to get himself to 361st. Florian Chollet was our last mover, climbing into 413th.

New players from the first half of May:

Nicholas Harvey – 265 – Pro A - 193 SC
Richard Mathers – 432 – Expert F

And that’s all for the first half of May! Join me again soon for all the action from the second half of the month. I’ll unplug my Wii to make sure I write it.

Welcome to another edition of MK64 news! Action seemed to slow down a bit in the second half of April but there were still many players making some good moves.

The top ten remains as it was in the first half of April but the action started just inside the top 20 as Cooper Lovera defended his top 20 status from John Falls Marshall. Cooper hit several new PRs on RRy, allowing him to pass Alex Penev and move into 19th. Cooper’s move came just in time as John moved past the three other players in the cluster I mentioned last update to reach 20th, less than half an AF point behind Cooper. Zoran Tintor came back with some PRs to cut a couple of points from his AF and move up to 25th. Will Cooper have to defend that top 20 spot again before long? Finn Berger was also playing RRy and made some small cuts to get towards his next target, Jonathan Bernier in 31st.

John kept on moving over on the SC charts too, passing Louis-Philippe Sabbagh for 8th. George Dimitriou made a comeback and cut just over 4 from his AF to reach 48th.

Marcos Vinicius Alves surged past a cluster of players, going from 99th to 90th in the second half of April. Jacob Goldfinger went up a few places into 105th and George replicated Jacob’s cut exactly to rise a couple into 129th. Matthias Rustemeyer added 12 more places to his excellent cuts, moving into 170th. Eric Tapani hit some more PRs but stayed in 241st. Toby Hooper made a massive 97 point AF cut and rocketed up into 356th. New player Nicholas Hindes went up 6 more places after joining, reaching 462nd. Matt Hedding made some small cuts to reach 559th.

New players from the second half of April:

Justin Baldwin – 531 – Apprentice A - 251 SC
Jean-Francois Schepers – 594 – Beginner C

And that’s all for April! Join me again in a couple of weeks to catch up with all the action.
