- PAL and NTSC World Records Page created - by Michael at 9:13 am
I finally completed the task of recreating the PAL and NTSC MK64 pages. You can now view the World Record lists for PAL and NTSC. Various PAL players (Cetin, Lacey, Jongerius, Miller) have set great new PAL world Records lately.
The Top 25 tables and the World Rankings pages are also brought up to date.

- Top100s, ARRs & AvgFins Updated - by Michael at 8:22 am
Those pages are updated again. Check them out.

Sunday, April 27, 2003 - PAL and NTSC World Rankings are back - by Michael at 8:48 am
I just added the PAL and NTSC Worldrankings to the PAL and NTSC Mario Kart 64 times page. The top25 and top15 tables are also updated, with times from a few days ago.

Friday, April 25, 2003 - Dedicated Vid Server Online - by Mark at 9:12 pm
Ok, so I set up an FTP server on my home computer so that you should now have 24/7 ftp access to all of those awesome karting vids (roughly 200). So how do I download these vids you ask... There are two options. Option 1) Click me to open up the ftp server in the browswer window, or type "ftp://4.60.53.175" manually into your browser address bar. Option 2) Use your favorite FTP client to connect to 4.60.53.175 on port 21. The username is "kart64" and the password is "kart64". A few notes... Since this server is on my computer the download rate won't be great. At best you will get around 15 k/s, and that is if only one person is downloading at a time. Thank my DSL provider for that one. Secondly, if the link doesn't work then either my computer has been turned off (rare) or my IP address has been changed by my DSL provider... in which case I will post the new IP address for you guys. I know this is rough, but hey... it's a start, and it's better than anything we currently have going. So enjoy the vids, and let me know if you have any vids in your collection that I don't have, so I can offer it to the rest of the community. Oh, and warning, a lot of Booth's older vids are uncompressed and like 20 megs, so make sure to check the file sizes before you start downloading. I really should compress them one of these days. Ok, enough rambling... enjoy the vids!

Tuesday, April 22, 2003 - PLAYERS LIST + WORLD RECORD PAGE UPDATED + ANNOUNCEMENT - by Kevin at 12:52 am
First off the players list is updated. It took some troubleshooting, but I think everybody was included. Hopefully everything is fine with it now. Tons of movement, thatis for sure, and the new members Liem talked about are making a statement.

I also updated Sami Cetins WR redeption on Wario Stadium with a 1'12"55!!!!

Lastly, I will be making an individual announement about proof and validation soon. If you are ranked King F or higher, you might be who I'm talking about. If you've never validated yourself at kart 64 players, or it's incomplete, I recommend you pay close attention to my next update. Twin Galaxies has been getting going again, and just in case they will be book ready soon, I want to get everyone validated by the time the book deadline is, so make sure you do your part!

Monday, April 21, 2003 - New PAL and NTSC top 25 tables - by Michael at 11:40 am
Yes, they're finally updated. Some people have waited a long time for it...
First I got rid of the old PAL & NTSC database that was built by Rene "REX" Elsaesser back in 1998. It was a nicely built system, but it had its flaws, and it was not compatible with the database we're using here. That's why updating the PAL and NTSC tables used to be so time-consuming. In the past few days, I re-created a new spreadsheet that will allow me to update the PAL and NTSC top 25 / top 15 tables much easier in the future.
And here's the first result:
http://www.mariokart64.com/PAL-NTSC/mk64wrp.html
http://www.mariokart64.com/PAL-NTSC/mk64wrn.html

Only the Top 25 and Top 15 tables itself are up for now. But in the next few days/weeks, more features will get added, like the PAL/NTSC Worldrankings, and a PAL/NTSC World Records page.

- 7 AWARDS DECIDED - by Kevin at 9:48 am
Yep, the POW 2003 and Points pages have been updated. Some really close decisions, and very hard ones at that, with all that is going on. I have a feeling that starting the 3rd week on, we will be having a new star though :)

- Top100s, ARRs & AvgFins Updated - by Michael at 9:31 am
William Lacey gave the ARR ranking page a different look by getting his ARR score to an insane 0.031. He scored world records at Frappe Snowland 3lap and Wario Stadium fastlap to achieve that. Sami Cetin got a new World Record at Banshee Boardwalk 3lap. Michael Jongerius tied Alex Penev for a 4th place in ARR. Michael Liem got his first PR since a long time, to improve his ARR score a little. Lars Nouwen and especially Thomas Grandjean made more significant cuts to get closer to Marcelo Almeida dos Reis. Marcelo himself also got a PR as well. Brandon Eberly slowly sneaks away from Habrich, and is on his way to passing Ruokai Chen in ARR and AvgFin.

Brent Wingert got some PRs, as did Simon Laflamme. Mike Nardone passed 2 players on the ARR list, and tied Steven Gutierrez at an ARR score of 9.250 now. Johan Oldenburg gave us another update of his times, and it appears he jumped from Elite B to King F! Michael Linski went from 10.750 to 10.688 ARR. Elite B players Scott Brehm and Tim Everett got some PRs. Andrew Weatherton returned from inactivity and is might be aiming to re-pass Brehm and Everett soon.

Some of our latest new members were also active. Michael Fried passed a bunch of players and went from Elite D to Elite C in nonSC. He also has a complete set of 20 shortcut times now and joins the universal players list. Jeffrey Gutierrez went from Expert B to Expert A. James Robinson was active but didn't pass any players. Yann Ledrux improved very strongly, from Intermediate B to Semi-pro A, passing 62 players on the AvgFin rankings. Robin Usher improved his rank from Newbie C to Newbie B. And we have one new member: Nathan Brassmassery submitted 2 times that were even strong enough to make the top100 tables. He'll send the rest of his times later, so we can see where he'd rank on those statistics pages.

Sunday, April 20, 2003 - WORLD RECORDS UPDATED - by Kevin at 12:05 am
This is insane. I counted like 20 World Record changes since last update. Marcelo lost his only WR, but Michael Jongerius did get 2 WRs on YV to stick (1 tie that Simmons kept on fastlap), and a 3rd one that he previously had taken back by Cetin. Besides that, Miller improved MMF, and Cetin/Lacey have been trading back WRs like mad. Gallo is now down to one last world record in CM 3lap, but that could change with the hot PAL players, as well as some validation surprises to come.

Updating the WR page on a grass smokers easter (4/20), I must be insane. Well no more insane than the karters that set these times. Check it out! I'll update the WR points another day.

Thursday, April 17, 2003 - Top100s, ARRs & AvgFins Updated - by Michael at 3:17 pm
Those pages are updated with all the times through 16th April (yahoogroups message 7212). I've been busy upgrading my databases, so i'll save my time for that. Check out all the updated track rankings and stats pages.

Sunday, April 13, 2003 - Players List Updated - by Kevin at 11:14 pm
Yep, I finally did it. The list is as of action up to the 12th of this month. There are some good battles at the Low Legend level, and now we got Cetin and Lacey #1 and #2 on the list. Pretty soon, it appears the PAL players are going to sweep the top 5 in NON-sc with Jongerius moving passed Simmons for 6th.

Anyhow, as Liem said, we got tons of new members too, so check it out.

- Top100s, ARRs & AvgFins Updated - by Michael at 6:32 am
Legends
Beau Fairbourn got some more PRs and reached the famous milestone in ones Mario Kart 64 career: Congrats to him on achieving Legend F status!
Thomas Grandjean reached Legend B and passed Lars Nouwen (who was also active)! Are they both on their way to repassing Marcelo Almeida dos Reis?
Top players Cetin, Lacey and Jongerius all three got one PR. Sami's PR was an awesome World Record at DK's Jungle Parkway 3lap. Brandon Eberly improved his stats a little, making the gap with Habrich larger. Brent Wingert got some nonSC and SC PRs.

Other
Steven Gutierrez reached King D. Michael Linski got 2 PRs. Elite B players Tim Everett and Scott Brehm improved their stats. Philippe Leclerc cut an impressive 1.4 points from his ARR score, reaching the Elite B ranks as well. Dan O'Keefe cut an even more impressive 2.8 points from his ARR score to reach Elite D (and very close to Elite C).

Two new members
Welcome to Robin Usher, our first member from Japan. He's ranked #261 in AvgFin, at Newbie F. Michael Farmer from Missouri, USA, joins us at #210 (Intermediate B). I wish both of you good luck and hope you'll have a lot of fun while improving your times.

Wednesday, April 09, 2003 - Top100s, ARRs & AvgFins Updated - by Michael at 10:46 am
Highlights: William Lacey got his nonSC ARR down to 0.094 (!) after a great world record at Mario Raceway fastlap. Eric Habrich improved his ARR score from 3.750 (Legend D) to 3.281 (Legend C) in nonSC. Brent Wingert went from 5.450 to 4.850 in Shortcut ARR. And Johan Oldenburg went from #84 in nonSC AvgFin to #69 (from Elite D to Elite B).
Other active players were: Cetin, Jongerius, Grandjean, Nouwen, Wingert, Brehm, O'Keefe, S.Gutierrez, Linski, Everett, Laflamme, Worcester.
And we can welcome one new member: Finn Berger. And he's not your average new Mario Kart 64 member... Firstly, he's the first player from Norway to join our site. And secondly: as far as I know, with his 50 years of age, he's the oldest member of the whole community! And he's a good karter as well: #105 in nonSC AvgFin, with a Pro A rank.

Saturday, April 05, 2003 - Top100s, ARRs & AvgFins Updated - by Michael at 6:44 am
Once again, great Legend activity from: Sami Cetin, William Lacey (his ARR is 0.125 now), Ben Miller, Michael Jongerius, Marcelo Almeida dos Reis, Lars Nouwen (yes he's back!), Brandon Eberly, Eric Habrich and last but not least: Brent Wingert our new shortcut Legend! Great new World Records were set at Moo Moo Farm 3lap & flap (Ben Miller) and Yoshi Valley 3lap & flap (Michael Jongerius).

Other karters were in the minority this time... But nevertheless good playing from Beau Fairbourn (almost Legend F), Simon Laflamme (almost King B), Mark Jones (reaches top25 in SC AvgFin and ARR), Steven Gutierrez, Scott Brehm, and Tim Everett.

Wednesday, April 02, 2003 - Player's List Updated - by Kevin at 10:43 am
Yep, I finally quit slacking and got it out. It reflects end of the month results. Quite a few interesting developments, especially in the top positions, and quite a few in the other spots as well. However, tons has happened since this update, so you know that next month is going to have even bigger surprises! Anyhow, check it out.

Tuesday, April 01, 2003 - Top100s, ARRs & AvgFins Updated - by Michael at 10:58 am
My pages are updated with all times from the end of March 2003.

Rainbow Wars
Highlights of the last few days were undoubtedly the spectacular World Records at Rainbow Road 3lap by Michael Jongerius and Sami Cetin. At 30th March, Michael Jongerius continued his great record cutting at Rainbow Road as of late by getting his first overall World Record ever of 5:56.57* (4.56.55*). With that time he managed to beat Sami's historical World Record, that was considered almost unbeatable by many people. However, Sami Cetin didn't let that WR go without a fight. Only one day later, at 31st March, he hit back with another new world record of 5'56"24* (4'56"27*).

More Legend activity
Ben Miller returned to defend his MMF flap WR that he lost to Almeida. He didn't get the chance to PR there yet. However, he did manage to improve his own World Record at MMF 3lap to 1'27"93* (1'13"13*).
Marcelo Almeida dos Reis showed his fantastic potential by setting GOD times at Banshee Boardwalk 3lap and flap that were close to NTSC WRs. Legend C player Brandon Eberly chopped some time off his Rainbow Road flap time to improve his stats a little. In the Dubreuil vs Habrich battle, it was Dubreuil's turn to take the lead again... He got his ARR score down from 4.406 to 4.000, just in front of Habrich.

Kings
Brent Wingert made a succesful return to Mario Kart 64. His shortcut statistics are quickly nearing the Legend ranks. Todd Worcester got a few PRs to get close to Ryan Wiley and Simon Laflamme. Steven Gutierrez broke into the King F ranks in non-shortcut. Congrats!

Other players
Scott Brehm (Elite B) and Tim Everett (Elite C) got a few PRs. Johan Oldenburg breaks into the top 100 in ARR and Avgfin, and went from Master D to Elite D in nonSC! Malcolm Young improved both his nonSC and SC statistics. He's ranked 37th in shortcut AvgFin now.

New member
And finally, we have one new member. Welcome to Dan O'Keefe from Australia. He's been playing Mario Kart 64 for a long time, and he joins us now at #102 in non-shortcut AvgFin, with a Master C rank.
