New Worldrecord
Ben Miller has broken the Worldrecord at Moo Moo Farm 3lap. 1'28"11 (1'13"28) is the new WR. An amazing performance for a player who's ranked outside the top10 in non-shortcut.

Arthur van Dalen reaches King
Congrats to Arthur van Dalen for reaching King F. With various PRs he managed to improve the last 0.5 points from his ARR score.

Various players on fire
Beau Fairbourn is having an impressive comeback, and will reach the King C ranks soon. Stanley Jeram is also finding his way up in the King ranks, and he's following closely behind Fairbourn.
Thomas Grandjean got some HUGE improvements at his nonSC stats, and he barely missed King F. But it will be only a matter of time before he gets there.
Zack Kennedy and Daniel Fields entered the Master Ranks this week, and they're almost leaving it again... Zack went from Pro A to Master B, and Daniel went from Pro A to Master A! Daniel also completed his complete set of shortcut times, which makes him the 31st member of the "universal players" club.

Other people with new PRs were Michael Liem, Ruokai Chen, Mark Jones, Anton Forsander, Christian Juarez, Michael Linski and Michael Poelzl.

The POW for the first and second week of April has been decided. Congratulations to Stanley Jeram (Week 1), and Anton Forsander (Week 2). During the first week, Jeram made a historic achievement by making King F. Will he follow Sami Cetin's steps and eventually become the NTSC Champion in Kart 64 too? Stay tuned!

Anton Forsander improved his ranking two(!!) spot during the second week. His big achievement was getting from Elite D to Elite B within the duration of only 7 days! Very impressive, Anton!

3 new members
Welcome to Simon Laflamme (who is the current Super Mario Kart worldchampion on NTSC), Marcelo Almeida dos Reis (our second South-American member) and Geoff Brown!
Geoff Brown has the highest rank of them, and enters at a 125th place at the NonSC ARR list, with a nice Expert B rank. He also has some shortcut times, and is ranked #108 at Shortcut AvgFin.
Simon and Marcelo are both at an equal skill level. Their ARR scores are almost identical (Advanced C rank), and also at AvgFin, they're ranked close to eachother.

Nice Legend activity
Legend+ players Steven Zwartjes and William Lacey cut some time off their PRs at Mario Raceway and Rainbow Road respectively. Ruokai Chen had some PRs, including a nice MMF 3lap time.

Other players
Stanley Jeram passed 3 people for a 41st place nonSC AvgFin. Thomas Grandjean cut 0.5 from his nonSC ARR score to reach Elite A! Arthur van Dalen also improved his stats, and gets closer to reaching King F in nonSC.
Zack Kennedy reached Pro A, and will be entering the Master ranks soon. Master F player Michael Linski improved 3 PRs. Rob Dwyer sent in some improvements at his Frappe Snowland Shortcut times.

New member: Thomas Grandjean
Welcome to Thomas Grandjean, from Switzerland. He has been playing this game for a few months, and just decided to join the site. He entered at an impressive Elite B rank on the nonSC ARR list, just ahead of Anton Forsander.

Legends
In the Legend ranks two players were active. Michael Liem and Ruokai Chen both improved a PR.

Elite & Master
Michael Linski reaches Master F. It's a nice achievement, because at this point the Elite ranks aren't far away anymore. Elite B player Anton Forsander keeps his strong PR run going, and despite being passed by Thomas Grandjean, he managed to climb 5 spots on the ARR list.

Pro - Expert
Eddie Lovins improved his stats significantly. He reached Pro F, and got a little closer to Zack Kennedy, who was also active this update. Robert Sterk set some new times that made him reach Expert D.

- PL+FAQ+Links Updated - by Kevin at 5:57 am
Well it's 6am, but I decided to deliver on my promise and get the FAQ page done right, and linked somewhere on the main page. I also added both of Lacey's recent contributions to the statistics page.

Anyhow, the PL is done, but it only shows progress up to the 16th, so one or 2 players may have moved up a good deal more since that update.

Anton Forsander is having an awesome week. At previous update he reached Elite C. This update he got another rank promotion: Elite B! Michael Linski is the 8th player is history to hit the "Mylestyle" shortcut at Luigi Raceway. So, that gives him an amazing top 10 spot in the top 100 table of that track. Zack Kennedy continued to hit PRs, and climbed a few spots at nonSC AvgFin again.

Sunday, April 14, 2002 - PL Updated - by Kevin at 9:29 pm
Well, a position in the Non-sc's top 10 has changed once again! To see which one, go check out the Non-sc section of the players list. I know it was special for me, when I made this pass, and I imagine it was the same this time around. Even us veterans can't be written off... Remember that :)

Next update, cause the work week will be shorter for me, I'll fix the main page menu, and the faq page.

- PAL & NTSC Rankings updated - by Michael at 9:03 am
The PAL & NTSC top 25 tables and worldrankings have been updated. The ranking pages show all ranking changes of the past few weeks.

I'd also like to remind you that William's stat pages usually get updated shortly after each top100 update. The links will soon be added to the menu on the left, but for now I'll repost the URLs here:

POW of the 3rd week of March goes to Michael Liem, for making a very impressive run to get very close to Legend A. He made some very nice PR's during this period, and to sum up his impressive effort, he did make Legend A during the fourth week.

POW of the 4th week of March goes to another Dutch player, Arthur van Dalen! Congrats to him for making his first POW! During this week, his most impressive achievement was hitting the infamous Mylestyle shortcut, becoming one of only 6 or so players to do so. His SC Flap time is currently ranked at #5 in the world. Very impressive, Arthur! He also got sub 1'40 on LR raceway. Many players may think this is not really that great of a feat, but at his level (Elite A), I think that is a fabulous feat to be remembered. I didn't make sub 1'40 LR until I was in the high kings.

POM for March goes to me, mostly for the honor of becoming the 26th Legend Player in Kart history. I also PR'ed a lot during this period of slight inactivity, and reduced my ARR score to below 5.

Last, and most important, is the awarding of the 1st Quarter Seasonal. The award goes to Sami Cetin, for becoming the #1 player in Mario Kart 64!! Congrats to him for toppling Steven Zwartjes's reign of almost 2 years! Sami set many amazing WR's consistently during this period, some of which are very awe-inspiring, like WS 3lap 3'39"99.

- PL updated - by Kevin at 9:42 am
Well, I figured I should get this done before I get into my busy work schedule. I won't be available for any kart related stuff til at least saturday, and most likely sunday, so if you have something to tell me, that can't wait, make sure to email me directly. For those that don't know the email address by now, it's under the E-Mail link on the left side of this page, or of course, you can get it from the players list, by clicking on the AIM/SN area.

Anyhow, I would like to welcome Eddie Lovins to Kart 64 Players. He has proven himself at the GE Elite, by placing 11th in the world overall in that community, so he wishes to carry over the same success at the page that started it all!

Besides that, I hope we get at least 200 submissions this month. We are sorta behind that goal so far, but if times improve a little here, and a little there, the goal of 200 is achievable. Anyhow, things are just heating up, and well see who still has the red flames throught this month!

Congrats to Stanley Jeram for reaching King F! At 5th April he passed the last Elite A players in front of him with 2 big PR improvements. And at 6th April he reached King F, and made some more strong PRs to pass Mark Jones on the non-shortcut ARR and AvgFin list.

Mark Jones himself spent some time on the Shortcut tracks. He climbed from #35 to #30 in the SC AvgFin rankings, and he improved his SC ARR rank from Elite D to Elite B!

Kevin Booth passed 2 people on Frappe Snowland 3lap, and still has potential left. Brandon Eberly improved his ARR and AvgFin stats a little to edge closer to Chris Hames and to the Legend C ranks.

Anton Forsander made a good ARR cut to move closer to Elite C in non-shortcut. Zack Kennedy reached the top 100 of the nonSC AvgFin list. He's ranked 97th there.

Three people submitted new PRs after some time of inactivity. Rob McFarland submitted the times he's gotten in the past few months. He improved 24 places for #104 on the ARR list. Paul Michael completed his set of non-shortcut times and moved from #159 to #153 on the ARR list. Michael Poelzl climbed from #153 to #146. At the Shortcut ARR list he climbed an impressive 30 places an is very close to Elite F.

Friday, April 05, 2002 - 2 new programs written - by William at 12:22 pm
Hey guys, I've been playing around with some cgi scripts lately and I've bashed out these two programs that some of you might find useful.

The first is just a program that will let you view any person's times(in both PAL/NTSC) and will also show you where each time is ranked in the World at the moment. It's here

The second program is an online Matchup Calculator. The program will show you a matchup of any two players you choose. Now these 2 scripts were only just written, so let me know if you find any bugs or glitches in it.

- Top 100s, ARRs & AvgFins updated - by Michael at 11:57 am
The top 100s and statistics pages have been updated.
Active legends were William Lacey, Michael Liem, Ruokai Chen, and Brandon Eberly who made a nice return after a period of inactivity.

In the other ranks Arthur van Dalen did a great job by reaching Elite A in nonSC! Stanley Jeram got a few PRs to edge closer to the King ranks. King player Tom Gaffikin made consistent PRs again. He passed Derek Clark for a 30th place on nonSC AvgFin and ARR rankings.

We have a new member this update: Eddie Lovins. He's ranked #11 in the world at Goldeneye, so the N64 talent is definitely there... He entered the rankings at about the same level as highly active player Zack Kennedy. They're both very close to the top 100 in nonSC Average Finish now. Go check out the non-shortcut matchup between these 2 players on William Lacey's new page if you want to see how close these 2 people are.

Monday, April 01, 2002 - PL + Champions Page + Main Page Links - by Kevin at 10:12 pm
Well hopefully I got everything, but I'm sure I forgot something. The players list is updated with scores up to the end of the month.

I finally broke down my bias on the conversion ruling, and busted out the champion page, and recognized our new non-sc champion, Sami Cetin. It is too bad I didn't keep track of seprate system and method #1's of the past, or I would change the format a bit more. I guess when a method of being #1 is up for debate, instead of fixed, you will run into problems like these. Well as long as were willing to compete on the same ground, it will work. Any suggestions for the champ page is welcome.

Lastly, the 2 stat pages have been added, and I adjusted the order of the other links at the statistics area.
