Sunday, March 28, 2004 - Quick Update - by Nathan at 1:07 pm
Sorry for having to be so brief, but I have little to no time to submit this. I did my first update to the players list, so some might want to check the list and see if they look correct.

- Top100s & Stats Updated - by Michael at 11:48 am
Highlights of the past 4 days:
- Jeffrey Gutierrez cut over 0.500 points (!) off his ARR score and gets close to Legend D.
- Josh Caudle and Tuomas Dunkel got ranking promotions to King A and King D respectively.
- After his controversial POW award last week, Martin McMullan just kept playing strongly, and reached Elite D.
- Stephen Regat and Tronn Are Johansen both cut over 3 full points off their ARR scores.

If you've been reading the MB lately, you probably know what this is about. I made a major mistake with last week's POW decision, awarding it to McMullan when in fact Ryan Duescher should have won it, becoming the 14th player ever to reach Legend status in shortcut. Michael and I don't want to take back an award that was given to someone else (for obvious reasons), so we believe the "best" solution is to give the award to both of these players, each of them receiving a POW point.

POW - Week 3
He doesn't make the headlines too often, but probably will in the near future if he continues to kart: Martin McMullan has made some great progress since the start of the month, and this week entered the Elite ranks, going from Master C to Elite F and earning his first award since joining the site.

It's been a while but the top 100 pages and statistics are updated again. Check out all activity from the past 10 days. Ryan Duescher reached Legend F in shortcuts!

Tuesday, March 23, 2004 - National records updated - by Tim at 1:03 pm
Some of the continential records are updated as well, but I didn't focus on those or the regional records. There is some intense competition on the Nordic end. Little activity happened by this update- Michael Jongerius sets some Dutch shortcut records, and Tuomas Dunkel wipes out half his Finnish records easily. Finn Berger establishes his stranglehold on Norway, cutting out Marius Hukkelåas' only record. These records are only updated to the latest timesheet update and not the submissions.

Friday, March 19, 2004 - General Stuff - by Kevin at 5:17 pm
I figure it's been awhile, so I'll do bust out some news. I was going to fill in for Steven, and do some PL news, however, I haven't been keeping track of what's been going on scorewise too close lately, so I wouldn't do justice to it. I just know there are a lot of new players on the scene showing their stuff, and that is what Kart is about. It's about the new players stepping it up, as we pass the torch off to them.

Outside of that, I'll be gone from the 25th to the 5th competely. I'll be visiting various people, and attending some business in Spokane, Wa during the end of the trip. I wish everyone the best while I'm gone, and keep karting.

POW - Week 2
Plenty of activity during this week. The most notable achievement was done by Finnish karter Tuomas Dunkel, reaching the King ranks and jumping about 20 places on the AvgFin. He also has a good chance of getting the next POM award if he can keep the pace going, as he was very close to earning last week's award as well.

2 new Legends and 2 new Kings
One week ago, right after my previous update Jeffrey Gutierrez reached Legend F in non-shortcut. One day ago Finn Berger also reached the famous milestone in Mario Kart 64. Jeffrey and Finn are the youngest and oldest Legend players on the site now... Congrats to both of you!
Tuomas Dunkel and Ryan Duescher both entered the King ranks in non-shortcut, with Dunkel having a slight lead over Duescher on both the ARR and AvgFin list.

New rivalries in the pro and semi-pro ranks?
A interesting groups of players to watch: Martin McMullan - Stephen Regat - Sam Hemp - Jeremy Aube. They all climbed more than 25 places on the AvgFin rankings and they're now ranked very close to eachother (with all their ARR score varying between 24.000 and 26.000 points).
Just a few ranks lower there's another interesting group: David Hayter - Kyle Simon - Tronn Are Johansen. They all climbed more than 20 places on the AvgFin rankings, and their ARR scores are all between 29.000 and 30.500.

Nathan Stinson and Jeffrey Gutierrez both became Legend-F, with Stinson ahead by 1 number rank! Ryan Duescher Reached the King ranks. Stephen Regat rushed threw the rest of the Semi-Pro ranks, and is now Semi-Pro A. Jeremy Aube reached Semi-Pro C. Sam Hemp reached Semi-Pro C. New karter Kyle Simon started his big moves allready, reaching Semi Pro-D! Martin McMullan reached Semi-Pro C. Other active players were Richard Keyser, Toumas Dunkel, Josh Caudle, Finn Berger, Pier-Yves Lemire and Ryan Duecher.

POW - Week 1
Congrats to Nathan Stinson for earning this week's award. He managed to reach the Legend ranks and cut .4 point off his ARR. It's a good thing he kept on racing a bit after becoming Legend, as that probably pushed the balance in his favour when making the POW decision.

Saturday, March 06, 2004 - PAL & NTSC Rankings Updated - by Michael at 4:47 am
PAL Shortcut
At previous update, Alex Penev and Ben Miller together held all 20 shortcut PAL WRs. Not anymore now... Thomas Grandjean, Olivier Payraud and Michael Jongerius all beat one or more of those times. Jongerius now has 4 shortcut times, of which all 4 are PAL WRs. Olivier Payraud has the YV 3lap PAL WR. Lower on the shortcut rankings, Tron Are Johansen, Tuomas Dunkel and Trystan Pugh made their first entrance on the rankings.

PAL Non-Shortcut
In non-shortcut Finn Berger reached 11th place by passing Alex Tsagouris. Tuomas Dunkel, Trystan Pugh and Sam Hemp also entered the non-shortcut rankings.

NTSC Shortcut
New WRs by champion Steven Gutierrez and by the surprising Ryan Duescher. Ryan Duescher made an amazing jump from 27th place to 11th place on the rankings. Jeffrey Gutierrez was also impressive by going from from #28th to #15.

NTSC Non-Shortcut
Tim Everett passed Jason Whalls for 6th place. The Gutierrez brothers, Nathan Stinson and Josh Caudle all gained some ranks.

Pages are updated with times from one day ago. We can welcome two players to the Legend ranks. Congrats to Nathan Stinson on reaching Legend F in non-shortcut to Jeffrey Gutierrez on becoming Legend in shortcut. Jeffrey is the youngest Mario Kart 64 player ever to reach Legend status. He only missed non-shortcut legend by 1 standard improvement this update. Lots of other players in the King/Elite and lower ranks were active and improving their stats.

Friday, March 05, 2004 - Player list update - by Steven G at 2:28 am
I finally resolved this computer issue I've been having, and finally was able to update the player list. I forgot to make a few changes I was suppose to make (for instance, change Michael Fried's email address), but I will make some of these changes by next update.

Anyways theres been tons of movements since my last update, witch was what seems like, decades ago. So too avoid me frustration and confusion, you can find out yourself this update (smile).

Wednesday, March 03, 2004 - WR/POW/POW points updated - by Thomas at 2:56 pm
World Records
As anyone could have predicted, Michael Jongerius has grabbed a few more shortcut WRs, this time on TT, as he took the course down to 1'31"60* (1'50"14) with laps of 32"73, 29"62 and 29"26. He did manage to get the fastlap WR as well with a 29"07** (34"95) run, but has to share it with Kevin Booth, who holds on to his last remaining WR.

Player of the Season
This is the Winter Award (December-February). The Gutierrez brothers totally dominated the action during that period. Steven did a great job in Non-sc by reaching Legend C from a King C rank back in December, and was even more impressive in SC, ending the season as the 3rd best karter, while Jeffrey wasn't in the top 100 back then and has now reached ranks #37 and #15 in Non-sc and SC, respectively.

Monday, March 01, 2004 - WR/POW/POW points updated - by Thomas at 2:49 pm
World Records
Well we have 2 new WRs this week, both in shortcut and both by players you wouldn't expect to get a shorcut WR. Ryan Duescher is still relatively new to the site, but that didn't prevent him from tying Frappe Snowland's fastlap of 5"40 (6"49). There are now 4 karters holding that WR. As for the 2nd WR, Non-sc World Champion Michael Jongerius decided to try out Mario Raceway's shortcut, and it didn't take long for him to succeed, tying Steven Gutierrez's WR of 15"52 (18"66). If he keeps karting, he'll probably get a few more of these shortcut WRs very soon.

Week 4
A very short week (just 4 days), but some interesting performances nonetheless. This one was between the last 2 POW winners, Tuomas Dunkel and Ryan Duescher. Tuomas got from Elite D to Elite B in Non-sc (#110 to #91), and Ryan from King F to King C in Sc (#32 to #26), as well as earning his 1st WR, as mentionned above.

POM - February
4 players were considered for this one: Steven Gutierrez, who became a strong Legend (LF to LC) and entered the top 25. His younger brother Jeffrey, almost becoming the youngest ever Legend player (in Sc as well as in Non-Sc) and consistently improving his stats during the month. Ryan Duescher, improving his Sc times at a very fast pace. And Tuomas Dunkel, who was way down the rankings at the beginning of the month and can now be found in the top 100.
