Arthur van Dalen had some great times again. This player, who has played time trials since a very long time, despite being relatively new to the site, has finally completed a set of 32 non-shortcut times. It propelled him to a 51st place on nonSC AvgFin, with an Elite B rank! And on top of that he also achieved a Luigi Raceway mylestyle SC hit, which gives him a 5th place overall on LR SC flap!
Stanley Jeram improved a few PRs to pass 2 elite A players on the ARR list. Anton Forsander reached Elite D with 8 nice PRs!
Pro player Michael Linski improved his stats a little with 4 new PRs.
Our newest member Zack Kennedy has shown great activity since last update. 92 PRs in 4 days!! He climbed 23 spots on the nonSC AvgFin rankings for a 148th place. His ARR rank is now 37.094 (Advanced B).
- Shortcut ARR Worldrankings
- Average Finish rankings for Non-Shortcut and Shortcut combined
Enjoy them! In the future they'll get updated together with the top100 updates.
Player news
Michael Liem has reached a great milestone by reaching Legend A! He got 4 more nice PRs and improved his ARR score from 1.563 to 1.469, for a 8th place tie with Jonathan Bernier.
Worldchampion Sami Cetin drove some PRs, improving one ARR point to get an untied 3rd place on the ARR list.
Ruokai Chen and Tom Gaffikin improved a few PRs. Both players tied the person who was ahead of them on the ARR rankings. Chen tied Dave Hines, and Gaffikin tied Yrvin van Wijk.
In the elite ranks, Louis Nebout and Stanley Jeram were active. Both of them climbed a rank on the nonSC AvgFin rankings. Arthur van Dalen made a return to MK64 with some very nice PRs. He climbed from Elite F to Elite D, and on the AvgFin rankings he passed many people to tie Louis Nebout. He still has a lot of potential left, since he doesn't have a non-shortcut time yet on WS and MR 3lap!
Michael Linski climbed 2 spots on the ARR list for #84. Kevin Denis climbed to #128 on that list. Paddy Johannessen improved his 2 weakest times. He climbed to Beginner D on the ARR list. But holidays will start for him now, so we can probably expect more from him soon.
And finally, a new member has joined. Welcome to Zack Kennedy! He's well known at the Mario Kart Super Circuit site, where he's ranked #2. He enters the Mk64 site with an Apprentice D rank, and #174 on ARR.
I also added the Photo Gallery under misc. links
http://www.geocities.com/mariokart64legend/mk64photogallery.htm
If you have photos of yourself you want up there, let either myself or Sami Cetin know.
Tom Gaffikin made some PRs and reached King B! You might remember: Tom wanted to reach King B in the first few days of January. That proved to be too hard for him. But now, 2 months later, he finally reached his goal. Well done, Tom!
Anton Forsander is back again, and he'll be looking to climb higher in the elite ranks. Louis Nebout is also still active.
Pro players Sylvain Coduri and Michael Linski kept improving their PRs. They're still very close to eachother. Kevin Denis climbed 3 spots for #130 on the ARR list.
A new player has joined. Welcome to Paddy Johannessen, from Australia! He hasn't spent much time on the game yet, and starts at a Beginner F rank. But he seems well motivated to improve his times in the future.
POW for the second week of March goes to me (Ruokai Chen). I made a nice run to Legend F this week, becomg Mario Kart's 26th non SC Legend. (What an honor!) Legends know that the final steps from King A to Legend F are particulary difficult, and I certainly accepted the challenge and made my way to Legend. Looking forward to moving further in the future!
Lastly, after 3.5 years of inactivity, Nathan Johnson has returned to Mario Kart 64 Time Trials. He has already scored a new personal best in Luigi Raceway fastlap Non-sc, and is on pace to have a few more, if he can regain the battle scars the active karters get. He also holds the controller like I do, so I know exactly what he's talking about.
More new members to join soon, but I'll talk about those ones they do join.
And this is what happened today:
Player: William Lacey
Date: 20th March 2002, at 1pm with Peach.
Luigi Raceway 3lap: (38"73,40"38,39"53) --> 1'58"64*
Converted to NTSC: (32"21,33"58,32"88) --> 1'38"67*
Definitely a historical performance by Lacey. He got his 27th GOD time with it.
In other news, Lars Nouwen got a very impressive PR on Rainbow Road 3lap, which is 5th place in the world. Michael Liem made a small improvement on TT flap, which puts his ARR score a small step closer to Legend A. Our fresh Legend Ruokai Chen improved some times, to pass Crawford and Hines for 24th place on nonSC AvgFin.
Tom Gaffikin made some PRs to get a little closer to King B level. Louis Nebout got various PRs including a Legend time on Frappe Snowland flap. He reached Elite B with it.
Sylvain Coduri improved 18 PRs, and reached the 88th place on the ARR list, exactly one spot in front of Mike Linski. Kevin Denis also climbed some ranks on the nonSC lists.
Anyhow, there are tons of 3rd links that need to be fixed, but I need to go to each individual page to do this, so please be patient. Once I do get done with that, or THINK I'm done with that, I'll let you know.
As soon as Yahoogroups shows my email, there will be soem corrections that will tkae place by next update, and they have already been reflected at the world records page, so if you see some new faces on those records, you will know why. Basically, I've decided on times that never got proven to our satisfaction, I made appropriate adjustments.
Submissions are starting to slow down, since moving out of the boom, but never fear, cause we are still getting new members all the time, and some of the actives are just on vacation or school is slamming them massively, so they will be back. We probably won't see 300 pace for some time, but I'm sure things will pick up again next month.
Tom Gaffikin had one PR. Stanley Jeram and Louis Nebout made some PRs to climb a little higher in their Elite A and Elite C ranks. Michael Linski, Kevin Denis and Eric Buechler were also active and passed some players.
Ruokai is attempting to pass Sorce and get legend himself. Jeram has returned to try to make it into the kings by shaving 5 ARR a day, so by next PL update, he should be close. Nebout might be Elite C, but he'd like to join the ranks of those other active Elite/King people that sorta left him beind during his inactive period.
Michael Linski and David Runnelid are really gaining steam in the sub-elite catagory, as they pass multiple persons each update.
Many people were active in the King ranks. Yrvin van Wijk, Tom Gaffikin, Michael Jongerius, Chris Rayola and Mike Nardone all set some nice PRs. Tom Gaffikin made the biggest improvements.
Stanley Jeram started playing again. He got some good quality PRs, that brought him a step closer to the King levels. Louis Nebout passed Arnaud Loonis on the nonSC AvgFin rankings. He's now the 2nd ranked player in France there.
Mike Linski has reached Pro D ranks and passed more people on the list. Sylvain Coduri got back his place in the top 100 on AvgFin, together with Jon Barber who submitted some older PRs. Kevin Denis climbed 4 spots on the ARR and the AvgFin list, and climbed from Advanced C to Advanced D.
The ranking pages also give a nice impression of the ranking moves of Lars Nouwen, Ruokai Chen, Chris Rayola, Michael Jongerius, and other active people.
For the first time in nearly eternity, we have a new Non-Shortcut World Champion! This player's name is no other than Sami Cetin! He did it!
With a new World Record on Royal Non-sc lap that beat Stevens already dominant time, he has passed him, dispite his defence by improving the frap lap.
Sami Cetin is now in very rare company, when it comes to Kart. Only him and Whalls have been champions at one point in all 3 kart titles. (Whalls SMK NTSC #1 and Kart 64's shortcut #1 as well as MKSC). Steven Zwartjes and Michael Liem are the only other players that can claim championships in at least 2 of the titles (SZ pal #1 at SMK, ML Pal #1 at Kart 64, NTSC #1 at SMK)
What does does this do? Well finally, the UK has put themselves on the map. Ihantenko did have the SC's #1 at one point, but neither him or Hines ever got the Non-sc #1, so Cetin took care of business.
So will Cetin be the man to beat from this point on, in Non-sc, or will there be surprises? Will Lacey get back going, and take him out? Will Penev get some time and become a threat for the first time since 1999? Will Zwartjes, Gallo or Simmons even plan a comeback? Time will tell, but one thing is certain. Anything can happen in Kart, and usually does, so stay tuned!
Lars Nouwen has been on fire lately, and he's showing no signs of slowing down at all. He passed Chris Hames on AvgFin and ARR, and has reached Legend C now!
Louis-Phillipe Sabbagh has spent some time on Luigi Raceway SC. He hit the "mylestyle" shortcut several times, and passed many people on 3lap (NTSC WR) and fastlap. Although he isn't satisfied with the results himself, he still managed to pass Jonathan Bernier for 8th place on Shortcut AvgFin.
Ruokai Chen is getting close to Iacopo Sorce in nonSC AvgFin. Michael Jongerius improved his TT times to beat Tom Gaffikin on ARR. However, on the same day, Tom improved 3 of his PRs to get ahead again. Chris Rayola is looking to set a significant improvement on LR SC, which could help him reach the top 20 in shortcuts. Mike Nardone found the time to get some more PRs. He might be King D soon.
Louis Nebout had some good quality PRs to climb 2 spots on nonSC AvgFin.
Michael Linski has solidified his ranks in the nonSC top 100, and he's on his way to the Pro ranks with his regular PR-ing. David Runnelid climbed 11 spots to #120 at nonSC AvgFin. Eric Buechler improved his ARR score a little. And new member Kevin Denis entered the rankings as Advanced D, at #151 in the nonSC Average Finish rankings.
Cetin, to get #1
Lars to pass more Legends
Louis might be grey, but he's still playing :)
Chen to pass Sorce and get Legend
Nardone Heating up
Rayola hitting SCs
And a host of new members, that seem equally as motivated as the base group. What will a few more days give way to? Maybe all these events above, or maybe none of them, and some ones we don't expect! Well, plenty of action going on, so stay tuned!
I won't be working on the other pages for the next 2 days cause of 2 inventories I gotta do, and I'm running on no sleep as of now.
For the rest, Lars Nouwen passed Brandon Eberly for the 18th place on the ARR list. Ruokai Chen kept improving his times, and is approaching Iacopo Sorce, the last player in front of him before the Legend ranks. King F players Mike Nardone and Mark Jones improved some PRs. Jones got ahead of Andy Launspach on AvgFin with that. Louis Nebout reached an ARR score of 14.000.
In the semi-pro ranks we have 3 active people. New member Sylvain Corduri from France joined at a nice 100th place in the ARR ranks, at semi-pro C rank. Michael Linski climbed from #100 to #95 on that list, at semi-pro B. Xavier San Giorgi is ranked #110, at semi-pro F.
Chris Rayola continued his rise on the Shortcut rankings. He passed Sterling Neblett for 21st place on SC Average Finish.
This week many players excelled, and certainly will reign as one of the most competitive weeks in Kart 64. Lars and I had great weeks. I dropped almost a full ARR point to become King A from King B. However, that didn't look like enough to beat out Lars's PR's. He dropped his ARR score 0.5 points to become a Legend D, passing some good players. Congratulations to Lars for an excellent week!
POW- Week 4 of February
Sami Cetin deserves this POW without a doubt. He set 2 new WR's during a 3 day period, an unbelievable feat! He is getting ever so close to the Champion Steven Zwartjes, so tune in for some more action in the next couple of weeks!
February POM
The big award goes to Sami Cetin (again)! February was a blast for all karters, as we set a record number of e-mails in yahoogroups, and have active players all over the player's list. Sami hit some awesome times, including multiple WR's, which I wouldn't need to reiterate.
