With Vincent Tolhuis' new PAL WR at MMF flap, there are now 3 non-shortcut tracks where Michael Jongerius doesn't have the World Record. In the PAL non-shortcut rankings 2 players made their entrance: Zoran Tintor and Marvin Mester. Zoran Tintor, Maurice Fleer and Patrick Hewson were the main climbers in the PAL Shortcut rankings. The NTSC charts didn't show much change.

Vincent Tolhuis got a PAL WR on MMF flap. It's the first system WR in 2007. Zoran Tintor doesn't show any signs of slowing down after reaching Legend. This week he reached Legend D with a 0.418 ARR cut.Maurice Fleer also had another ranking promotion (King C) and on top of that, he broke into the top 100 in Avg Finish. King C player Matt Nissenbaum was also active. No spectacular jumps like Zoran and Maurice did. However, Matt seems to be more the type of player that just keeps climbing the ranks by improving slowly but steadily. He has been active almost every single week for the past 6 months (except for christmas break). Elite C players Patrick Hewson and Thomas van Leeuwen both improved around 0.3 ARR points. It will be interesting to see if Patrick can stay ahead of Thomas in the next few weeks. Patrick also had a nice 1.5 point ARR cut in shortcuts. Two of the newer member reached the Elite ranks this week: Cole Gilbert and Ben O'Brien. Both are ranked Elite F now. Pat Flor jumped 34 places on the AvgFin rankings, from Semi-Pro B to Pro B. New member Martin Rudmarker (who's also known from the MKDD and MKDS site and plays MK64 on the Wii) is right behind Pat, at Pro C. Timothy Klebetz improved from Advanced C to Advanced B. John Kenny got 18 new PRs which brought him from Intermediate F to Intermediate A.

In the King rivalry, both Matt Nissenbaum and George Dimitriou returned with a bit of activity, but neither was able to make a rivalry AF cut because of the continued improvements of Maurice Fleer. Matt worked mostly on times he already had the records for though, and he did successfully protect those. In the Legend rivalry, Zoran Tintor sent in a bunch of new PRs that sent him past Vincent van der Fluit and Robert Szabo and into third place. He still hasn't been able to get a rivalry record there yet, but if he keeps karting I'm sure that will come soon. In the Universal rivalry, Vincent Tolhuis submitted a couple new PRs, most notably a MMF flap that beats MJ!

The only activity this week was in the King rivalry. Maurice Fleer has quickly taken the top spot in his rivalry, grabbing 11 new rivalry records in just a few days. So far his rivals haven't been very active, although George Dimitriou recently came back with a shortcut PR, so hopefully he'll play some non-sc as well and give Maurice a bit of a fight!

Maurice Fleer and Thomas van Leeuwen were the fastest climbers this week. Not much activity in the Legend ranks. However, a good thing to see is that we have 4 new members: Pat Flor, Josh Handeland, Timothy Klebetz and James Redmond. And also Cole Gilbert and Matt Ellis submitted the first Wii times to the site.

- Mario Kart 64 on Wii Virtual Console -
|
|
by Michael at 5:02 pm

As you know a Wii VC version of Mario Kart 64 has been released last week. After some preliminary testing done by community members, we conclude that the new VC MK64 version is most likely 100% identical to the original N64 version of MK64 (apart from the fact that you can't save ghost since there's no memory pack). We want all MK64 players to compete in our time trial competition. So, we made this decision: From now on you are allowed to submit MK64 time trial times that were driven on the Wii VC. There's one important thing you need to know though. We will consider the first few weeks of this rule a testing phase. More testing with the VC will be done. If we discover at some point that the gameplay of VC MK64 is actually different from the original MK64, we will remove the Wii times again (and probably place them in a separate category). Please keep this possibility in mind when you compete with Wii times. One last rule: When you submit your times, please state clearly in your submission that you drove your times on a Wii VC.

- Player's List Updated -

Well they said it wasn't possible, but it has been done. I updated the players list, and I added a few new players to it. Keith Spreckels, John Kenny, Rhianna Lombe Brendan Sinnott and Ben O'Brien have been added to it. The colors still aren't working right, but were looking into that. However, the list looks how it should look. It's back to the pre-april fools look. Either way, enjoy the players list working semi-right again. I'll start busting out news with players list updates hopefully soon. Those colors sure help that along.
