Saturday, November 26, 2005 - Rivalry Update - by Robin at 8:50 pm
The rivalries have been updated.

In the Legend+ Rivalry, Trystan Pugh, Eddie Taylor, and Greg Lewis were all active, and each of them took something from the one who wasn't active, Jamie White. Greg took a Rivalry Record from Jamie at BB flap. Eddie improved his RRd 3lap time by enough to make his Total 3lap Time dip below Jamie's. And Trystan got a GOD time at BC 3lap to pass Jamie in ARR. Trystan only has 5 GOD times left to get.

In the Legend B rivalry, only Jesse Hristovski was active. He once again lowered his ARR but made no rivalry improvements.

In the Legend F rivalry, Vincent Tolhuis and Josh Layne were active. Josh cut his KTB 3lap time down to GOD and took the Rivalry Record from Vincent. Vincent fought back and tried to take it back, and even though he also reached GOD at this course he couldn't get his record back. He did take one from Josh at SL flap instead though.

In the King rivalry, John Santamaria and Willi Rossberg were active. John made huge cuts at MMF, changing it from one of his worst courses to one he really likes and getting Legend times there. He already had the 3lap record, and he took the flap one from Willi. He also took the LR 3lap record from Karl Makatenas. Willi was active on many courses, getting his worst times stronger and easily passing Karl for 4th place in the rivalry.

Pages are updated with times from 24th november.
We had 20 active players this update, including 2 new members.
Lots of players from all different kinds ranks made some solid ARR and AvgFin cuts this update. No one really stood out in particularly though.
John Santamaria and Willi Rossberg had ranking promotions to King C. Jonathan Rolandez had a pretty good shortcut improvement from King C to King B. Hedley Hichens finally got a complete set of non-shortcut times together. He achieved a Pro C rank with that.
New member Ryan Meade from Canada entered as #275 (Expert A). Fabio Ferreira, from Brazil, entered as #350 (Advanced C). Ryan and Fabio also have some good shortcut times and are close to the top 100. It seems that we have exactly 100 shortcut players that are ranked Elite F or higher this update.

The rivalries have been updated.

In the King rivalry, three karters were active, and one new one, Matthew Little, was added. Craig Lubbers took back (again!) the Royal Raceway records from Willi Rossberg. John Santamaria made big cuts in his MMF times, taking them both from 5th place to 2nd place in the rivalry, and also improved his TT flap record. Willi was also active, but the loss of his RRy records caused him to fall behind Karl Makatenas down to 5th place.

In the Legend F rivalry, Vincent Tolhuis made a couple PRs, including taking the RRy flap record from Josh Layne. Everyone loves RRy these days.

In the Legend+ rivalry, Eddie Taylor improved his already strong DK times, including getting his DK 3lap below 1'52. He wasn't able to pass anyone's times in the rivalry though.

3 players had a great four days and reached a new kartrank: Josh Layne (Legend F), Kyle Smith (King F) and Stephen Meakings (Elite D). Another great mover was Andre Hermanny who cut 1.7 points off his ARR score.

The rivalries have been updated.

The King D rivalry was VERY active this update. Karl Makatenas got four rivalry records: LR 3lap and SL flap from John Santamaria, KD 3lap from Willi Rossberg, and KD flap from Craig Lubbers. His PRs brought him up to 3rd place in the rivalry, passing Willi. Willi then responded by getting four new records for himself, taking RRo flap, FS 3lap, and RRy 3lap from Craig as well as tying Karl's new KD flap record. These helped Willi repass Karl and also pass John to move into 2nd place! Craig then four records of his own, taking back his RRy 3lap record from Willi along with WS 3lap and DK flap, and also grabbing BC 3lap from Karl. This pushed Willi back into 4th place, but Willi came back and took the RRy 3lap back AGAIN, and passed Karl again to finish in 3rd. The gap between John, Willi, and Karl is still very small, so just a couple PRs decides who has 2nd place, while Craig increased his lead in 1st place.

The High King rivalry has now evolved into the Legend F rivalry, with Josh Layne successfully entering the Legend ranks. He moved into 2nd place in the rivalry, passing both inactive rivals, Sean Sullivan and David Taylor. Vincent Tolhuis also moved up to Legend D, and took both BC records from Josh and both RRy records from Sean. Josh also increased his record count, taking Vincent's TT 3lap and also his new RRy flap record, and taking WS 3lap and SL flap records from David. The gap in rivalry AF between Vincent and Josh was cut in half, from .87 to .40. If Josh keeps this up he could soon be in first.

The higher Legends were all quiet, with the exception of Jesse Hristovski who had one PR which gained him an ARR point but did not help him in the rivalry.

- WR Page Update - by Pier-Yves at 11:00 am
Sorry for not updating for such a really long time I've been really busy lately and since I received a mail from Liem I've been doing a few things each day to get it back to date. I might have missed some WRs since I couldn't really check all those mails... great activity. Anyway on to the update.

So just today Karlo Tomazelli got KD sc 3lap WR down some more by improving his previous time to 1'44"09* with splits of 35"02 / 35"94 / 33"13.

On November 12th Karlo Tomazelli got the WR on KD sc Flap by beating Jeffrey's time and getting the WR down to 31"64*.

On November 9th Eddie Taylor gets another WR! After getting the NTSC WR on TT 3lap he played TT sc 3lap where he improved Steven Gutierrez time. The new WR is 1'31"24* (32"24 / 29"63 / 29"37) great 3rd lap since his 2 first lap were just a bit short of Steven's pace on his WR.

On October 21st Myles Bukrim who's playing on and off improved a WR he was holding the tie on by "13. Considering it is one of the fastest lap of the game it's a very good cut. The time was done on DK sc Flap lowering the 3"73 all the way doen to 3"60*!

On October 9th we saw Greg Lewis get his first WR on MR Flap by tying the previous WR which was said to be close to perfect by some considering it had a mistake at the end... that's a good WR to begin with! So as I said he tied the 23"11** time.

A long time ago which was on September 29th Eddie Taylor got his first WR by beating Michael Jongerius FS 3lap WR by 0"03. The new WR is now 1'40"79* (33"61/33"62/33"56). It seems that he would have gotten a special wall hit on the final lap but it was after making a small mistake so maybe it evened out.

Also I'd like to add a few things about updating that would help me greatly.
If anyone manage a WR: rather then just sending it to yahoo group if you could also send it to me (Pieryo12@hotmail.com) with all the informations (Driver,Splits/Lap,Day it was set and a picture of you if it's your first WR and you want to have a picture) I could then update the WR right when I check my mail every few days and I wouldn't be loosing all that time checking the yahoo group for submissions. Also if I forgot some WR which is possible just send me a mail and I'll be sure to edit everything as fast as I'll be able.

Sorry for taking all that time to update. But hopefully you'll all be able to send me a mail whenever you set a WR.

Sorry yet again,
>Pier-Yves

Pages updated with times from 24 hours ago.
It seems Josh Caudle became Legend B and passed Jesse Hristovski!
Karl Makatenas started beating some strong Legend times, and easily improved his ARR by a full point to 9.000 (King D). He was not the only King player on fire. Craig Lubbers and Jonathan Rolandez did some great improving as well.
New member Roland Wehner joins as a strong Elite C player.

Thursday, November 10, 2005 - Rivalry Update - by Robin at 7:41 am
The rivalries have been updated.

In the Legend+ rivalry, only Trystan Pugh was active. He did a lot of work at MMF and KD, and his work paid off. He took both rivalry records from Martin McMullan at MMF. At KD, he broke his tie with Greg Lewis to take sole possession of the flap record, and took the 3lap record from Jamie White. With these improvements, he passed Martin for 2nd place in the rivalry.

In the Legend B rivalry, Jesse Hristovski was the only active karter. He also made lots of improvements, taking both Rainbow records from Finn Berger, and the FS flap record from Phil McCanna.

In the High King rivalry, Vincent Tolhuis was active, but his rivalry AF still went up because of Josh Layne's larger improvements. Josh cut the AF gap between himself and the rest of his rivals in half, and also took the BC flap record away from David Taylor.

In the Middle King rivalry, three karters were active, but here too only one actually managed an AF cut. John Santamaria was active, improving his already strong BB 3lap record, and Willi Rossberg was active and took both FS records from Craig Lubbers. But it was Craig who managed to cut his AF. He made many strong improvements, including taking back the FS records from Willi. The gap between 1st place Craig and 2nd place John increased from 0.03 AF points to 0.25.

Tuesday, November 08, 2005 - Player List Updated! - by Michael at 3:47 pm
I finally managed to finish the upgrade of the Player List database files. The first update I made with it showed an interesting surprise. We now have two shortcut champions!!

- Top100s & Stats Updated - by Michael at 2:30 pm
25 active players in this first week of November.
Some highlights of this week:
- Jesse Hristovski reached Legend B, however Josh Caudle is chasing him and is only 0.1 ARR point away...
- Willy Rossberg became a King player and Andre Hermanny became an elite player (he even went straight to Elite D)
- Two very strong new players from France joined the site: Marc Pouget and Clement Lafont are friends and have played MK64 time trials for a while. Marc joins as a King D player and Clement is King F.

Monday, November 07, 2005 - Rivalry Update - by Robin at 7:31 pm
The rivalry section has been updated with times from two days ago. All the rivalries have been changed, and one new one has been added. Greg Lewis joined the Legend+ rivalry. Josh Layne joined the High King rivalry. John Santamaria's inactive rivals were swapped for Karl Makatenas, Willi Rossberg, and Craig Lubbers in the Mid King rivalry. And a new rivalry between Finn Berger, Jesse Hristovski, and Phil McCanna was added.

Wednesday, November 02, 2005 - News update! - by Vincent v/d F at 5:42 pm
Hi! My name is Vincent van der Fluit. Because Michael has limited time I'm going to write news once in a while about what's going on in the world of mariokart 64. You can find me as an active karter as well, fourth on double dash and almost top 150 on mk64. You'll see me move up the 64 ranks which gives me the right to write about myself in third person - something I've always wanted to do hehe. If you wish to contact me you can find my information in my profile on the messageboards or double dash site. (feedback about the news, questions, personal insults etc)

Anyway let's get on with the news, because boy some unique stuff has happened last month! I'm going to write from top to bottom, so if you want to be the highlight in the news; work your way to the top.

Movement

No prs from #1 Michael Jongerius, giving #2 Karlo Tomazelli to get just a little closer on the nsc avgfin list. However his best cuts came from a shortcut performance, and not without a reason. While he was already GOD in nonsc, he has finally nailed FS 3lap the 28th of october to become the second overall shortcut GOD, but even more importantly also the first universal god! I'd say that's worth a few oh my god's! 52 to be precise ;-) There's one important goal he can still achieve quite easily: shortcut champion. Maybe he won't even have to play for it anymore if some other players are nice to him, he's that close! Last but not least, his universal af dropped to 4,3 which is stupidly low, over 3 points ahead of the #2 here.

#5 William Lacey made the smallest cut possible, ending up with -0.0313 at the end of the month. However because Marcelo was inactive and lost a few places, the gap between them has diminished by 0.25 points, so another month like this and William can pass him!

#11 Trystan Pugh made some nice cuts (like he has been these last months). He didn't pass anyone this month but he's gotten a lot closer to Zwartjes & top 10!

#16, 17, 19 & 21 Eddie Taylor, Greg Lewis, Lucas Oliver and Myles Bukrim all did major damage to the nsc rankings this month. With Eddie, Greg and Myles each holding world records and Lucas making the largest cut out of the 4 of them I doubt we've seen the last of these guys!

Our favorite turtle #30 Finn Berger made some improvements this month, and even though his af actually worsened slightly he did pass #31 Jean-François. He said he wanted to get Legend A before the end of 2006 but changed his goal to end 2005. He broke 4 standards this month and has 8 to go...... yes another two months like october will put him at precisely Legend A! Go Finn!

#37 Jesse "fastest through king" Hristovski has rejoined the site after providing proof, expect a lot to come from him!

#53 Vincent Tolhuis reached Legend F and made some great cuts. In fact he likes mariokart so much he's made a rap about it! Go check it out on the message board if you haven't.

#56 Sean Sullivan also reached Legend, and #58 David Taylor is oh-so-close!

I don't know how #74 Josh Layne did it, but he mowed down his af by roughly 45%..... pure insanity! He drops far into the top 100 from a position that wasn't even that close to top 100 at the start of this month.

#113 Craig Lubbers made a huge cut as well, but he's far from done as his best time is ranked 64th so if he plays every course thourough no doubt he's going to do a similar cut next month.

The same goes for #117 Willi Rossberg, he cut even more, and if he can keep this up he'll be german champ in no time! (currently #64 Florian Eisele holds this title)

#133 Kyle Smith must be suffering the crazy australian pr smash virus (right back at ya, penev! ;) He cut 53% of his af, exactly -160 af and jumped from some low ARR score straight to elite B. Next month top 100?

#162 Vincent van der Fluit didn't manage insane cuts like the individuals mentioned above, but he did manage a King B time (he's still Elite D) showing he's capable of more than elite scores.

Honorable mentions: Frank Chardin (solid af drop), Vincent Bal (because his af dropped nicely and he has a funky first name) Hero Nake (you know what Japanese and videogames means, watch out for this guy)

New Players:
Karl Makatenas ~NTSC (King F!)
Andre Hermanny (Master C)
Jeffrey Botula ~NTSC (Pro C)
Sjoerd Werkhoven ~PAL (Pro D)
Mark Stockdill ~NTSC (Pro F)
Jeffrey van Gelder ~PAL (Adv. F)
Josh Riente (Beg. A)

Quite a long update, but this was a month worth of stuff :-) Happy karting!

PS - If you say I got my writing style from Penev then I will deny everything.

- Top100s & Stats Updated - by Michael at 3:20 pm
Ok, the top100s and the statistics pages are up to date now, with the times from the end of the month october. You will have noticed that there's been a lack of news updates lately. That should change soon though. Our new team member Vincent v/d Fluit will give you an update of latest kart events here soon.

There are 3 things i want to mention now though:

- I created a new chart: the universal ARR rankings

- In that chart something historical happened at exactly the first update: After 8 years of MK64 competition, Karlo Tomazelli became the first person on the site to beat all 52 GOD times in the game, and achieved an overall ARR score of 0.000. This also means he's the 2nd GOD player in shortcuts. Congratulations!

- Jesse Hristovski is back! After his removal from the site a few months ago, he kept playing and focussed on non-shortcut. He kept his promise and returns to the competition now with video proof. It's only non-shortcut proof for now. So, he's only allowed to compete in the non-SC competition. During his absence Jesse improved to a strong Legend player at ARR = 2.750 (Legend C).
