Tuesday, November 27, 2001 - 3 LINKS CHANGED (2 pages updated) - by Kevin at 1:18 am
Just like to say that Dave Crawfords Standards page has changed links, so update your bookmarks.

Plus, the 2 WR pages (WR and WR points) have been moved AND updated, for the first time in many months. Jason Whalls and Mike Simmons really took a hit, and William Lacey and Ben Miller join the board freshly. Also, Louis-Philippe Sabbagh is a casualty of the WS SC lap WR of Wonns. Anyhow, I have alot of information missing or incorrect, so if you are a world record holder, PLEASE check what I have, and let me know if anything is out of order.

Sunday, November 25, 2001 - PL and POW UPDATED - by Kevin at 3:27 pm
As Liem and I have stated, just purely INSANE stuff going on with all the active players. Elite and King ranks are becoming very contested, cause of the latest action.

Sadly, I am the only active Legend so far, and only in shortcuts, but hopefully that will change with the latest talent smashing projections hourly.

6 POW awards have been decided, so go check it out. Alot of tough picks, but I tried to recognize some new faces this time around.

I will actually update the world records later tonight, cause it has been months! I think I have not got them all up there, but well see!

- Total Times Updated / Updating help needed - by Michael at 12:44 pm
It's been a while since the total times were updated. Dave Crawford has stepped down from updating the total times page, because of some things happening in his life recently, and because of problems with his Internet Connection. Dave has been a very important team member in the past. We wish him good luck with everything he's going to do in the future.

This opened up a new job at our site: Total times keeper. Some help from you would be really appreciated. If you're willing to help us with the total times page, you'll get access to our database, which should allow you to update the page by spending only a small amount of time on it. You'll also get the privilege of posting your news at this mainpage.
If anyone is interested in this job, or if you have any other questions, please let me know.

For now, I've put up a temporary replacement of the total times page here. Check it out, and if you notice any errors, please let us know.

- PAL & NTSC Rankings updated - by Michael at 7:04 am
If you check those ranking pages, you can see the progress people made in the last 4 weeks.
Congrats go to Alexandru Balahura for reaching an amazing 5th (!!!) place in the PAL Shortcut rankings.
On the NTSC rankings we see Steven Foy, Brent Wingert and Ruokai Chen, 3 people who started their highscore career at the Perfect Dark/Goldeneye site, marching up on the nonSC rankings.

Friday, November 23, 2001 - Top100s, ARRs & AvgFins Updated - by Michael at 12:46 pm
And here's a new top100 update. I double-checked some times in our database. Things should be correct now. If you still notice any errors in your stats, please let me know.

Like Kevin said, there's great activity in the King and Elite ranks. In previous updates we saw Foy, Wingert and Balahura (shortcut), reaching King levels.

This update, most impressive progress was made by Alexandru Balahura. He improved his non-shortcut ARR score from Elite F to Elite B level! Looks like he will be King in both nonSC and SC soon.

Other players also improved their times. Beau Fairbourn and Louis Nebout are 2 people who demonstrate that perseverance can get you very far in this game. These players were relatively quiet in the beginning days of their MK64 career. But now, after many weeks of patiently improving their PRs, they're really starting to hit the higher kart standards. Nebout has reached Master F, and Fairbourn has reached Elite C. And they don't show any signs of slowing down yet. Who knows where their runs will end?

Thursday, November 22, 2001 - Nothing Yet But - by Kevin at 1:16 am
Just a couple things real quick. Firstly, I got rundowns from most of you, and corrected some mistakes in the database. I did find an instance from each of you where I had a faster time than you claimed, so I kept the faster time, for now. If you find the time I got down is definitely slower, I shall change it on next update. Secondly, I would like to welcome 2 members to Kart 64 Players. Jeff Fetzer from Painesville, OH. seems very anxious about learning from the best. Matt Wladyka from Reading, MA has actually played alot of kart, but is just getting his feet wet as far as strong times go. Anyhow, welcome to the site you 2, and keep on karting!

Tuesday, November 20, 2001 - PL UPDATED (nov 17th data) - by Kevin at 11:22 pm
Just wanted to say I have updated the players list finally with that november 17th data. Anyhow, remind me that I should wear undergarments before updating, cause the success I have seen lately out of the kings and below is nothing short of amazing. HOLY CRAP!

Anyhow, I decided to take it on my own to get one legend active by nailing LR SC Myle Style with 22"67! This is good for a 3rd place time from 12th, and my 20th god time.

Kings are getting strong. Examples are Lars Nouwen challenging Sorce in the KA area. Steven Foy is flying in the king ranks, and is looking to beat Steven Zwartjes record of King to Legend in 5 weeks. Brent Wingert has made King with his consistent improvements. He has not been a member too long, and he is already making a massive impact on things. Congratulations goes out to him. Also on the SC side Alexandru Balahura hit some amazing times.

Elites are very good too, and alot of future talent. DK Jungle specialist Chen is consistently improving. We got Fairbourn catching up, and Alexandru Balahura got his base times in, and achieved elite too!

Tom Gaffikin and Louis Nebout will be future elites. In fact, Tom is probably an elite now, but it won't be final til the next players list update. I shall talk about some of our new members and other kewl stuff next update. I might even bust out some of those POW awards I have put off for awhile.

Those pages are updated. Check them out!

Wednesday, November 07, 2001 - PL Update - by Kevin at 11:32 am
Just a quick update, cause I got some plans to work out for the weekend, and I'm considering busting out some stuff for a related site (MKSC). Anyhow, results as of Nov. 4th are posted, and since there was a jump of activity at kart 64 players, I probably will get a fresh PL update in the next couple days, well see.

Oh yes, if any exe or alike files show up at yahoogroups, delete them immediately! I think I'm going to ban attachments perminentally, cause of the viruses going around.

Monday, November 05, 2001 - Top 100s, ARRs & AvgFins Updated - by Michael at 1:36 pm
Steven Foy has been crushing King standards all over the place. He's ranked at King D now. If he continues to set PRs this fast, nobody will be safe for him...
Other big news is the comeback of Lars Nouwen. He'll be trying to reach Legend soon.
Other people were active as well. Check the orange and red colored players on ARR and Avg Fin pages, to see who were all active.

Thursday, November 01, 2001 - End of month update - by Michael at 12:58 am
The top 100s and stat pages have been updated with all times from October 2001.
Alexandru Balahura made lots of SC improvements this week. His best time is Wario Stadium 3lap SC: His 19"08 (15"86 on NTSC) is a #2 ranked time on PAL, and #8 in the world on PAL and NTSC combined! He moved from #52 to #30 on the Shortcut AvgFin list. So, at next Player List update he will have reached the elite ranks in SC.
Michael Liem improved his Toad Turnpike times significantly, to tie Bukrim for 9th place in Avg Finish.
Tom Gaffikin is another hot Player. With a massive PR streak he's really racing through the Pro ranks. If he keeps that up, he could reach Master and Elite very soon. Pier-Yves Lemire got passed by Gaffikin, but he's still following closely with some nice PRs.
In the Elite ranks, Christian Juarez and Ruokai Chen are continuing their battle. Juarez repassed Chen on ARR, but thanks to some great Rainbow Road times, Chen still has a lead on Avg Finish. Other people with PRs are: Kelly Malo, Louis Nebout and Matt Broderick.
Marius Ancuta from Rumania is a new player who enters at #149 in ARR and #151 in AvgFin.
